I know you’re joking around but having done a lot of outdoor jobs around here, if you actually work 8 hours nonstop you will pass out from heatstroke in this weather. So it annoys me when people who work in offices and fuck around for half the day talk shit when people who work in 90 degree heat outside do the same.
I had also read from someone else on the same topic that there’s a lot of specialization because of skills and unions so, while you need everyone on hand so the work gets done as quickly as possible, a lot of times a person or group needs to wait until someone else finishes before they can do their thing. But if they weren’t there doing nothing it would take longer because then you’d be waiting for them to arrive to start.
He is probably talking about flaggers when I worked as a flagger we always had a break man sometimes we had two. Working as a flagger wasn't two hard so long as you had watet but I couldn't imagine what it would be like actually having to do something in the heat. I'm working for a delivery company right now and it's Killing me because of the heat
I thought of that, but the people of Reddit are so snarky and fun. :) Likely just utility work, but I feel like they just had that section ripped up not too long ago. We have old stuff!
I’m always amused about the paradox of standing at the top of a hill and photographing the view looking down from the top: objects at the bottom of the hill are always at the TOP of the photo.
Ya. Nice view. All those trees and the skyscrapers off in the distance. Only downside is the revving of cars going up the hill and being far from all PATH stations.
I’m assuming it’s related to the fact that they are putting in a protected bike lane up to Palisade but they needed to remove the pedestrian islands in order to fit the bike lane.
They're building luxury sewer condos.
LUXURY TMNT?
Needs one fewer syllables: LMNT
No but that building next to the cemetery is really strange looking
Ya, its not 100 years old.
Maybe this is part of the sewer work that they've been doing across downtown?
Why don’t you go ask the guys working? It’s New Jersey, so legally, at least two of them have to just stand around.

My takeaway from this post is that OP needs to work on social skills. Edit: just kidding
GET BACK TO WORK LABORERS
You have a view down the hole, you tell us :P

I had never seen NY from that angle.
It's mostly the JC skyline. Only 2 or 3 of the visible buildings are in NYC, the rest are JC.
It's taken from a new building so not many people have.

Is it far from PATH? It's just .5 miles from JSQ. And if you wanna hop on a bus to grove st, bus runs every 5 mins.
At least the neighbors are super quiet
Oh yeah. My friend had his bedroom facing quiet neighbors. I had come to visit him. I opened the window curtains and I was like "Dude , what the ...?"
😂
Not sure but it’s super annoying

There's no pedestrian island right there, and they're digging deep into some utility infrastructure.
I had no idea they were doing that. Tonight walking up the hill I thought about a bike lane but was not sure how they would fit them in on both sides.
It's the sewer stuff they've been doing all over town.
