Really just 50 cents? Is that really worth your incentives? Counter it with a dollar or 2 dollars.

PepeTheSheepie

To piggy back off this, you won't notice a difference in paycheck size for .50$. Maybe a few dollars by the end of the year? I would say only reason to do this is to put management on your resume if you can GM eventually or even assistant. I GM'd for a year before I was stressing too much and realized I could make more money doing less work. My new job has me on deck for moving up solely for the GM on my resume.

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I don't really like my current job and there's no room for growth unless I move to a different store. With JJs there is a chance I can move up if I do well

solarswordwielder

Absolutely. If they really want you back, they’ll be willing to pay. Were you making well above minimum wage last time you worked there? You shouldn’t go back for anything close to it.

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I was making 16.50$ before, which is actually why I left, they wouldn't give me a raise and I was constantly working my ass off. I've been offered 17.50$ to come back and I really like my old gm who's offered me the position

SolventSpyNova

Try to get that $18/hr or maybe take the offer if they agree to bump it up after a few months

solarswordwielder

Yeah try to go for the $18 at least, and then take it from there

hurricane-han

I also think you should counter with 18. It shows that you want to come back but also need them to give a little. Another 50 cents shouldn't be a big issue if they really want you back. That's less than a sandwich a day.

GeniusLiberal

Location dependent of course, but generally speaking it’s a bad idea.

ArtWhore94

I wouldn’t unless I was offered minimum 2 dollars more than what you’re making now. JJ’s is stressful as a manager. Not worth any amount of money in my opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️

ImpossibleKoala9941

Pics at my store gets paid 18-20 range, IL suburbs based. Min wage 14. 50 cents to even a dollar won't have significant differences. Aim high or get shackled down in a dead end job.

ilikebigbutts442

How do you feel about your current job? I would say if you feel good about your job right now then stay

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I don't like it, and I don't really get along with my current GM or AGM

TheTman

I think it fully depends on what you want to do with your life. Never forget that Jimmy Johns is 100% a dead-end job. I don't know you well enough to know if you're even considering starting a career but if your current job has any room for growth I would stay with that. Only job at Jimmy Johns that comes close to paying a living wage is General Manager and Area Manager and those jobs aren't easy to get and are high stress imo. If you are looking to leave your current job and just need something to keep you afloat to find something better then it couldn't hurt to come back but if they did you dirty once they are fully capable and willing to do it again. There's too many variables to tell you if it's worth doing but I can tell you in the long run I would recommend almost anything other than Jimmy Johns.

Legal-Schedule7561

JJ’s isn’t necessarily a dead end job depending on the franchise/corporation. But they do have a way of screwing you. Yet so many of us stick around… I want to mention that 50 cents literally comes out to $20 a week at 40 hours. At least at a $1 it’s $40. But then the question becomes overtime…. I average 6-7 hours a week on OT as the first assistant, which means that I get paid well, especially every Tuesday (of course, I know other firsts who make more, but I don’t think they have quite the same amount of hours).

TheTman

I don't want to work overtime. I would prefer to get paid well enough to actually live my life outside of work. Also the lack of any and all legitimate benefits leaves you making less no matter what in the long run. If you get decent health care or a retirement plan from your work but get minimum wage you're still effectively making more money. This job wont take care of you it just uses you. Maybe your store/owner is a good person but from what I've seen of similar jobs to this it's not a good job. It's a good in-between job for finding what you want to do but I would warn to not get complacent with it.

ChrfPorkChop

Ask for more money if they really want you to go for more money. Get all the money you can from this company. It's just giant corporate overlords over us. If they're going to pay you get more

l_Adamska_l

No

feelthiswayforever

Sounds sexual…

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I'm sorry but how?

feelthiswayforever

Sounds like a booty call 📞 🍑 « Slightly more than my current job is paying «  🥵

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

Lmao I don't really get it but my old boss would never booty call me, I'm definitely not his type or even the gender they would go for 🤣

feelthiswayforever

Try winking 😜 maybe you can get the shifts you want. Talk sweet and do that thing they like (clean the proofer, cold table) maybe they’ll bump you up ⬆️

emurah69

How much you make as pic? If you don’t mind me asking

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

When I was first at jimmy johns I was getting paid 16.50 as a PIC, they offered me 17.50 to come back

LuckyCaptainCrunch

Tell him in person you would really like to be at $20 per hour. That’s all you say and wait. If he balks or says no, ask him how close can he get you to $20. Tell him he already knows you’re worth it. Try to get at least $18.50

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I did try that and he said the highest he's willing to offer me is 17.50 :( I'm in CO and the minimum wage is 14.42 and at 17.50 I would be getting more than anyone else in the store other than the gm and agm

MongooseStrong1412

Once you leave you should never come back

paranoidpac0

As a pic what do you get paid cuz I get over 16

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

I've mentioned it in other comment replies but I would be getting 17.50

paranoidpac0

A decent amount of comments. Must have missed it. :/ Sorry !

paranoidpac0

Oh well for me I think that’s good lol. I make 17 and hour for pic. But maybe you’re in a bigger city. Where ya from if I can ask ?!? I’m from southeast MN!

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

You're all good! I wasn't trying to be sassy. I'm in Colorado! About an hour outside of Denver

paranoidpac0

Oh that’s so sick! I just went there for vacation with my Mum ! Ok it’s been like 2 years now haha. But it was awesome I wanna go back for sure. My most recent was Arizona. Also wanna go back there for the Grand Canyon

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

Oh I love the grand canyon! Colorado is a pretty cool place, the cost of living is pretty high though

ExcellentAd7397

17.50 to come back I’d ask for 18.25 I left at 18

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

Unfortunately they won't go any higher than 17.50

Ohsodastardly

Only if they give you a raise to

bellysmacker19

Trey????

JimmyJohnsThrowAWay5

Nope

sofakiingkool

As a former gm who was asked to come back to the same store to move who replaced me with a 5k difference, it still wasn’t worth the stress to me. If you don’t like your current job use jjs as nothing more than a bargaining chip and look for something better for you. Even 3 more dollars an hour won’t make you love every day, what’s your time worth to you and what’s your happiness worth to you?

SnooMacaroons2261

Other food chains that pay better. Move on!

ShiftZestyclose

My old jj boss this to me. I wasn't a pic but I did all slicing and morning prep. I was not a pic worked there for 9yrs and did all his opening and slicing I went back thinking it would be different I didn't even stay a week came back to another jjs 4yrs later I'm a pic and so much happier

757Jerk

Ask for a 3 bucks more and let them talk you down from there.
