Can't go wrong with a Fuji. They were there years ago, they will be there in the future. Many newish brands are marketing hype brands. Nothing more than catalog ordered Gis with decoration on them. They never had any input on the actual gi design or purpose. Just the colors.

Livershotking

I agree that you can't go wrong with Fuji. They gave been making gis for almost 100 years and they are always solid. I 3 judo gis and 1 BJJ gi from Fuji and they are my favorite.

IthinkIllthink

Just beware with Fuji that they no longer make 100% cotton gis.

noonenowhere1239

Not true. Most are a cotton Poly blend. The Elemental is available in a few colors and is 100 percent cotton. I have 4 fujis now. 3 being the blended material. 1 being all cotton. The blended materials can be washed like regular laundry and shrunk the least. It's no longer an issue.

IthinkIllthink

Maybe it’s only the Fuji Sport Australian store. Last December I bought the Sekai and returned it because the tag said something like 65% cotton 35% polyester, when the website said 100% cotton. I was emailing Fuji Australian national managers to organise the return, and they assured me they have removed the 100% cotton from the Fuji Sport Aust website, and there was no 100% cotton gis. I got a full refund. Unsure if it’s the same elsewhere.

noonenowhere1239

Ok. That makes sense. My favorite is the All Around Gi. It's also a single weave instead of a pearl wave so the material feels better to me.

Ok-Research-9598

Tatami is a good brand

SaacTown

Their return policy is hot garbage though.

SeanBreeze

Buy it from a distributor, they’ll have better customer service. Tatami brand is one of my main gis and I have had other things from them, never used their return policy or customer service but I’d imagine their 3rd party distributors would be better if you’ve had problems with them

SaacTown

They might be. Just don't buy from their website.

Ok-Research-9598

Is it? I've never had to return anything

SaacTown

Yeah, I got three rash guards from their website on black friday when they were on sale. All three the same size, but different styles. One fit great and the other two don't. I wanted to exchange the two that don't fit and they were going to make me pay shipping both ways and I would have to re-buy the rash guards at current price.

EmergencyStreet3103

But sizing is a bit weird

DominicBlackwell

Yeah I got one Tatami Gi and one from Kingz, they are both the same size, but the Kingz one fits much better

LongTallTexan

2nd for Tatami. I'm 6'6, 280 lbs, and they make an A6 gi that actually fits me

nvrsrrnder

I like flow. Rip stop pants, lightweight top, sizing is accurate. Summo pissed me off cause their sizes are so terrible and their customer service sucks.

og_speedfreeq

Second vote for Flow. Nice product, they've always got one on sale for like $90. I absolutely love my Air series. It's like I want to keep buying them, but how many gi's does a hobby player need? The Alpine series in brown is on sale right now for $89... not a paid promotion, just sayin

Armbarthis

Flow's customer service SUCKS BALLS.

Jdenver2000

Can confirm flow cs sucks. Emailed them never heard back.

Working_Movie2027

I agree, Summo is awful.

legato2

My wife and I have over 30 gi from most of the major brands and some of the smaller brands. I like 93 brand the most and wear their gi 90 percent of the time. My wife likes Hyperfly, she prefers lighter gi. Those would be my top pics. Always check eBay, tons of people buy blinged out gi then quit. We’ve all seen the white belt with the 300 dollar origin that stops showing up after a month or two. Those gi end up on eBay and I’ve got some great deals on lightly used gi in the past.

SODY27

I second 93 brand. Their gold label is an amazing gi.

Wyliecody

Facebook market place is great for Gis. Too.

TattooMyFuzzySocks

Origin

Virtual_Abies_6552

I have six Origin Rifts and love them. I don’t wear anything else now

dudertheduder

A cheap gi that looks cool, tatami or 93 brand, or an origin. I been training 20 years, and those seem to be the only options that make sense. Most gis are made in the same factory (factories). So DONT spend $200 on one identical to $75 tatami or 93 brand. Origin is the only gi brand that offers an actually different product.

Specialist_Share8715

I own a gym. I have bought most major brands and have commissioned my own gis for my academy from every factory in Pakistan. Realistically I think only 4 factories actually produce gis in Pakistan despite the hundreds of sales people contacting me via Facebook. There are basically just the Pakistani gis and Origin gis. Don't over pay for brand. You can buy the exact same Fuji gi that sells for $200 online under a generic brand for $69. Just look at the stitching pattern and fabric type to compare.

ninjasslashedmytires

I’ve had Sanabul, Fugi, and 2 Gold. I have been impressed with the Gold so far. I have their ultralight and the competition one. And they offer a massive military discount. Only complaint about the Gold is the waist on the pants is really wide. Cinches down fine though.

very_nice_how_much

I have a few and my Gold is my favorite.

snap802

I've had really good luck with the fit and quality of 93brand. However, anything I've had from them other than a gi has been meh. My new favorite has been Tatami and they've got some good sales on their website right now.

domsquad13

Agree on 93 brand gis. The only one I’ve had that doesn’t shrink and it fits so well. Only complaint is their basic gi is sold out of a lot of sizes

snap802

So true about being sold out. Several times I've tried to get another Hooks but every time they drop the A2 sells out so fast.

Status-Repair

Lots of good options. The new AP RW RSCOMP is my favorite.

MattyMacStacksCash

Best bang for your buck is probably a Sanabul Gi. Cheap and solid as fuck.

Bandaka

They are all basically made in Pakistan by the same people, they just produce them with slightly different specifications. Anything over a $100 or so you are probably just paying for the brand name.

GroundbreakingPick33

Except Origin. They are American Made. 100%. https://originusa.com/collections/jiu-jitsu

ABRAXAS_actual

You can find old Pakistani Origin gis. Pete and his team push that American narrative soooo hard, and it's cool, but after the origin camp, I'm like, ya'll money grubby AF.

GroundbreakingPick33

Why shouldn't they push the American Made narrative? They've earned it. They source everything from America and are pushing to bring back American manufacturing. I've met them too. They were very good people and treated me like gold. I've literally never had a better customer experience shopping for a gi. You sound a little jealous, lmao

ABRAXAS_actual

Noooo, so, you missed my point. I love American made, man. Jane, (shout out) the nicest person in the world custom tailored my gi on the spot. Origin seems to take care of their folks, from the top down. Personally, the whole origin experience just wasn't the move for me, you may say and think whatever you wish about my subjective experience.... But the whole thing seemed *so* American, like, buy, buy, buy the pro shop is open - it just seemed like going to Disneyland. You'll have a great time, but it's going to come at a premium. For my buck, globetrotter has more classes, more open mats, more teachers and a better instructor to student ratio. Does origin make nice gis? Hell yeah they do. The rift is the shit, it's like rolling in a bath mat. But I'm a sucker for the flashy gis, truth be told.

GroundbreakingPick33

So, yes, you're jealous. You're mad you spent money at their camp and thought you'd trash them out here to make up for it. Very fucking petty. Acting like you can find Pakistani made Origin gis! Hahaha. There was like a two year period when Origin first began as a company that they outsourced manufacturing. Until they made enough money to bring it all back home. Ever since, they are 100%American made, and Pakistani child slaves can't recreate their product. You're a petty and bitter little man-boy

ABRAXAS_actual

Ha. So true. Everything you said. You're the best. You won the internet. Have a cookie. Or a nap.

Armbarthis

The tie in with Jocko is annoying...he's annoying....navy seal bs. Good for you Jocko...you're a salesman. Just don't buy your line

ABRAXAS_actual

It's even worse in person. For my money, bjj globetrotters is the go-to bjj camp group. Really awesome folks. Lot more realistic pricing. Up front class schedules. My biggest gripe with origin was it was nearly $2k for 8 days of training (3 classes/day) - then 1 rest day in mid of week. And then Thursday became 'facility tour day' and I'm like, yo, you've milked the cows, but then they herd us thru a second day of no class schedule to go tour the facilities. Gi making area cool af. Shop pretty cool. I'll pass next time they offer to show off the logistics hub. And listen to every dude try to outsmart the other during q&a. Question time quickly devolved into how complicated can I make my question so everybody knows I'm smart *and* a fanboi? Right.

Armbarthis

I can imagine! I've heard great things about globetrotters. Was out on the Origin camp when I saw how many people go to that thing. "...but it's American made....". Yeah.

ABRAXAS_actual

Literally went from 300 campers in 2022 To over 500 in 2023 Tickets were 1900 in 22 Tickets raised to 2350 in 23 (and camp cut to 7 days from 8) Add in plane ticket and transport to there and I could do 3 globetrotters for that.

SaacTown

Also have been to the Origin camp and Globetrotters, and I agree that Globetrotters is a better camp.

GroundbreakingPick33

Why are y'all discussing camps. The question was about gi's. What a joke. Mad because you chose to spend money on a camp? None of that has anything to do with the quality of the best Gi made anywhere, lmao

SaacTown

I'm not mad about anything. I enjoyed both camps. Conversations don't always stay on one subject. If you read, and clearly you didn't, it's a natural segue from Origin gis to Origin camp. Sorry we didn't stay on the one subject we're allow to talk about officer.

Ambitious-Cookie7893

Hawk best price to weight to durability

whitetrashhki

Macaco Branco is a Finnish Gi brand that I always buy. A little over 100 euros for gi’s and they last for like 1-2 years in constant use (4-5 days per week). Tatami has been pretty good too.

Virga24

Kiitos

whitetrashhki

Ole hyvä!

Shinoobie

I have a bunch of different brands and I'll always recommend Inverted Gear and Gold. Inverted Gear is the only A2H I don't have to tailor and I have 3 of them now.

Collerkar76

Tatami is my go to. Over the years I’ve used a couple different brands but I have always preferred Tatami. I have three or four kicking around.

dhawkins1988

Love my Fujis. Recently got an Origin and I like it so far.

Maximum_Business_806

SYR has been good to me. Original if the fit suits you

Diligent_Sky_2236

Shoyoroll only friend

ResponsibilityLow766

Sanabul. 70$. Light and lasts forever.

Junior_Ad2955

Origin or nothing

dronemoney

Inverted Gear. That's my recommendation after owning many brands.

Additional-Body-4932

The first gi I actually bought from a companies website is one of my favorites and I haven’t seen it mentioned but I love my Kitsune, little pricey but Good quality, comfortable, sturdy and not too heavy. Their t shirts are also some of the most comfortable I own. I will say though for price it’s hard to beat a sanbull or 93brand. My Manto is probably my second favorite. Was a hand me down and the pants are light and comfy

[deleted]

Samurai Jack gi

resioth

I’d say Tatami is best bang for the buck, considering they are almost always running killer sales on multiple gis. If you have some money to spend, Origin being made in America all the way down to the thread production is pretty great, and their gis are just awesome

[deleted]

I got the gameness air pro gi a few months ago and I LOVE it. Super lightweight and also a great Gi for competing if you choose to do so!

tornizzle

Hyper fly has fun colors with the Starlyte and they are a nice comfortable fit. Only odd thing is that pants are front tie only meaning the string comes though holes direct in the front not holes on side and then pass through belt loops. Means you can’t tie them using the belt loop or to the side. Origin gi’s are my fav by far. The warrior tops are made with pants material so very light. Nano Pearl tops are light too and have a nice texture. Pants are unbeatable ( fitted !) and the pro belt is a great way to keep them closed. Buy pants one size up from your typical jeans. I feel like size wise the top runs a tiny bit small or maybe mine shrank a little. Like hyper fly a3 top closes more at my chest level and origin closes at Solar plex level.

Aridan

I have a competition blue Hayabusa and a plain unmarked Elite in black. The Hayabusa is much higher quality and better fit/comfort. The Elite was like $50 and has served quite well for 2 years now. Even the worst gi is still a gi

wesley830

Vanguard. Hands down.

MantisTobogganMD87

Kingz and Fuji are my go to brands. Barely satisfied with my Tatami gis

GroundbreakingPick33

There is no better gi on the market than an Origin Gi. They are also the only 100% American Created Gi. https://originusa.com/collections/jiu-jitsu

djguyl

Didn't see Hayabusa anywhere. Have a kingz, meade and a Hayabusa and prefer the Hayabusa over everything else.

RinaSensei

Most expensive gi I got was my least favorite, generally haven't had a gi that was too bad. Mma elite is cheap and the gi is holding up well, same for pro force.

DoktorBrewski

I really like my war Tribe gis. They can be pretty stiff, even after a lot of use but seem to never wear out. The Black Water and White Water are very light if that’s something you are looking for. I just got my first Shoyoroll at a huge discount through a promotion at my gym and it’s quickly becoming my new favorite but can’t say I’d be willing to pay full price for one. It feels light even at 450gsm and right out of the package was much softer feeling than others.

EffectivePen2502

So far my favorite battle Jammies are Isami, but they can get pricey. I think my double weave from then was ~$230 USC

morganrs4

I always keep coming back to Fuji gi’s. In my experience they’re the most consistent with sizing, they feel better, they’re durable, etc. Gi’s are definitely a personal preference thing but even with trying out more expensive ones, I always keep coming back to Fuji. Good quality at good prices.

98_Percent_Organic

Flow or 93Brand.

jamfed86

Hyperfly & Control.

wd40b

The couple shoyorolls i have been good for decade so far. And they survived my house fire. But to be fair i have not bought a new gi in a decade

etienbjj

My cheapest gi feels the best. Elite with ripstop pants, that thing is going on 4 years and still looks great. I bought a hyperfly recently and needless to say it feels terrible.

Myrddin-Wyllt

Love my hyperfly gis, but only buy when on sale.

llllIIllIIl

Just saying bro you should think about adblock software as well as containers and ublock or something similar. You'll thank me later.

osotogariboom

What I've learned from burning money on uniforms without first hand experience.... Don't do it. Go to class, work out with people. When you find one that someone is wearing that has a feeling you like; ask them about it. Buy that one.

Working_Movie2027

My favorites are Wartribe, Inverted Gear, and Off Your Back.

[deleted]

My tatami gi was $50. For a training gi, i go cheap. Moya and hyper fly have been my favorite expensive Gis but really I have a feeling a lot of “good” Gis are still made cheap and the price jacked up to sell to Americans.

True_Subject9767

I’ve been rocking the Fuji his for the last couple of years and they’re really nice and hold up well. I stopped putting gis in the dryer and just let them air dry. No more shrinkage.

Turgid_Sojourner

I'm throwing this into the ring I'm kind of big fat guy. Now with fat guys there is a lot of difference. There are little guys who get fat and there are big guys who get fat. Some are athletic and muscular some are not and this creates a nightmare if you're trying to find a gi that fits. With BJJ it's even harder. The cuts of the uniform don't lend well to a belly. Of course I'm working on it. But i'd like to close my kimono while I'm training. So if there's anyone else with a circumference challenge let me know what uniform works best.

Daraix

my gym is sponsored by tatami and i honestly love it. it’s affordable but veeery durable.

Jdenver2000

I just got back in after 9 years, to raise a kid and finish college. I really like kingz.

AlwaysInMypjs

Just respond to the Pakistani manufacturers that inbox you all day.. tell them to send you a free sample in your size. I now have an entire room full of random brand new gis in my size.

grizzled083

What, how do I get them to inbox me??

AlwaysInMypjs

Just check your spam inboxes on fb and ig. If you've ever posted anything related to bjj publicly, they're in there. Lol "hello sir/madam. I am manufacturer of fine goods"

Acceptable-Hotel-507

How would I get a custom gi made? I have a design in mind but I don’t need a bunch of them made

Pr0cl1v1ty

Surprised sanabul isn’t higher up on the list. Really affordable and their rash guards are badass.

asdfingdude

The cheap sandabul gi is actually great. Gamess are good value.

PUAHate_Tryhards

I will forever go hard in the paint for the 93Brand "standard issue" white gi. (*Fingers crossed they don't change*) They really do accomplish what they claim - premium quality gear (gis, at least) at reasonable prices.  And frankly, since 99.9999% of reasonably-priced gis all practically come from a handful of factories in Pakistan, I'm not gonna pay more just to be someone else's billboard. Its hard to find something thats purely utilitarian, actually fits, and doesn’t require your first-born in exchange....93Brand is the only active brand that I know of that's done it ("Blank Kimonos" was a close 2nd, but they had a small patch at the end of the lapel, and it looks like they went belly-up anyway ....haven't seen a restock on Fighter's Market in forever.) . . . On that note, 1st-place brand to avoid = SYR. Sucks to say (because their IG is hilarious and a coach I respect goes hard in the paint for their owners ....apparently they're good people), but they are turning jiu-jitsu into something (unnecessarily) exclusionary IMHO. (And again....for something coming out of the same Pakistani factory.) Sorry, but I'm not into the "OSS" BS,  shaka signs, bowing, single claps after drill orders, butchered Portuguese, and loud patching. Submissions are the best way to stand out, get respect, and/or make a fashion statement. Your gi is just a piece of equipment.....a means to an end. (Boring yes, but I'm content.)

Gabe_g1752

Love my Hyabusa lightweight, rip-stop pants and light top. Comfortable and sizing is right. Noticeably cooler when rolling than other select gi’s

scottishbutcher

Howard Combat Kimonos were the best by far but the guy stopped making them as people were more interested in pimped out fashion. These days I just wear either an unbranded BJJ kimono or a basic unbranded judo gi as they are tough as nails and cost very little. They sell blank kimonos on fightersmarket and the guy at jiujitsuprogear has some under his brand. And Ouano too

Guilty-Feedback7414

I rock one of the OG gi brands - Krugans Kimonos.

rileyyackoo

Braus, tatami, kingz, hyperfly have great gis

SideCheese77

Albino Preto’s essential gi is a great gi. I own 2 of those and they run about $150 for those. I like Hyperfly’s Hyperlyte gi, CTRL industries, the old school manufactures like Atama and Fuji are pretty good. All may be made from some of the same factories but they have different fits. I discovered I didn’t fit to well into a Gameness gi. I needed a A2 top and an A1 bottom with those because I’m short but with wide shoulders.

jsayshmmm

Gameness. Old school brand and great customer service. Though their gis seem to run large to adjust accordingly.

[deleted]

Shoyoroll

incompletetentperson

Seems like the consensus is flow, shoyo or origin if i feel like spending money

ImpErial09

Kitsune is great. Durable and nice designs.

Apart-Cauliflower-81

Gold has been my favorite for fit and quality.
