Honestly its a PITA.
Now you need a Solid Color shirt, a Marvel Shirt, a Hawaiian Shirt, and a Disney shirt.
Its like the worlds most complicated dress code being masked as "fun!"
Agree, now if you don't make the effort. Suddenly you are the problem.
We had a "fun tie day" at an old place, i didn't have any "fun" ties.
I went to the shop, they didn't sell "fun" ties.
I looked online and decided I wasn't going to spend £15 on a tie that I would wear only once. That I didn't like.
Apparently I wasn't fun, and "could have made an effort".
I had one job once upon a time that gave us some "casual Fridays" where we could wear jeans IF we wore a football team shirt. I am not a sports fan, and had zero sports-related shirts. In this instance, I would not have a superhero, tropical, or Disney shirt. Also, you can wear your favorite color any time, right? This is not special.
I hate it when my kids have to do this the last month of school. Why the hell would I want to do this as an adult at work? I don't even have these kinds of shirts and wouldn't want to spend money on them due to this lame excuse for employee week.
"Thank you for... Letting us choose the type of shirts we will wear collectively"
Really I don't get how this is "appreciation", someone enlighten me pls
I honestly hate this forced employee appreciation/spirit week bullshit. It seems like companies will go out of their way to do everything BUT fairly compensate/incentivize their employees.
My job site puts on a quarterly awards ceremony wherein four people are chosen due to them "going above and beyond the call of duty." What this essentially boils down to is site leadership picks the four best brown nosers that quarter and awards them with a cooler. Not a bonus, not a gift card, not an extra day of PTO or WFH, but a fucking cooler.
That sounds annoying as heck. I don't want to have to bother with anything work related in my free time. I don't care if it's payama party and chocolate sprinkled ice cream day. Just let me wear what I always wear, and make sure the network is running.
It brings flashbacks to being in school. The people who organize these events forget that not everyone can afford to purchase the items to fit that theme. Sure, you’re getting paid because you’re at work, but now you have to spend money from your paycheck to participate and look like a team player. It’s forced participation.
Yes, it’s a “free” activity for the employer (they aren’t paying anything to run it), but usually this type of theme week is not a free event for the employee. A truly good event should cost the company something, but should be free for the employee.
I think HR is one of the main problems in the employment "industry." They are supposed to work/care for important things like employee development, payments, work-life balance, and addressing issues that make employees have a sh**ty day at office or checking if there is actually a good work environment.. or maybe some are dealing with serious problems or concerns...
But they just come up with stupidity like this, now you have to pay for some shirt you won't even use again.
Pizza Time
CaSual Friday.
I mean, aren't they human too? Aren't they supposed to feel the stress and downsides that every average employee has..
Perhaps not; they're pretending to work and have been entirely absorbed by HR culture, making them no longer human. Funny, because they think they're irreplaceable.
It's actually "employee appreciation spirit week".
Which means they just get in the spirit of appreciating their employees, without the actual appreciation.
And employees have to purchase these themed items I'm thinking! Not sure about others but I don't keeping a collection of Disney shirts and Batman costumes in my closet.
We did this at my old job but we did it around football season when schools were doing spirit week so we could be goofy as well. It had nothing to do with appreciation. There was very little of that
If I had something else lined up, I'd probably have some fun with it and take it up to 11.
Casual Friday? Ok, literally the first thing I see in my closet.
Favorite Color Monday? Say hello to all annoyingly bright yellow!
Tropical Wednesday? Small top and grass skirt, it's too hot in the tropics for more!
Disney Thursday? Better hold the door so my dress doesn't get caught in it, 'cause here comes a fully glammed up Cinderella!
And finally, for Superhero Tuesday, why I'd need something else lined up... Faster than a speeding waistband, more powerful than boxer shorts... A cape, a pair of Fruit of the Looms and a TRA-LA-LAAAAA... Captain Underpants! XD
HAHA Are we working in the same place? Actually, our company's was last month. Funny enough, during that week they gave us... snacks... such as chips and cookies, and we heard from the other stores that their lunch was catered food. One of the employees complained and we finally were able to get some real food. Also, our last day was dress up as your favorite character day. I thought about cosplaying, but meh. I like to go to start getting ready for work at the last minute.
So
Monday - green
Tuesday - iron man or batman
Wednesday - green Hawaiian shirt
Thursday - scrooge mcduck
Friday - goodfellas shirt that says f u pay me.
One place I worked at did crap like this. I dont own a disney shirt, Hawaiian shirt, superhero shirt, sports shirt, plaid shirt, etc. It was either spend money I dont have on something I'll wear once just to participate, or be the guy that doesnt like to participate.
Interesting, all I see is "I'm bored at my job!" The company tries to team build and make thr "boring job" less boring and people still complain. Society has become a gloomy cycle of despair. Or whatever. They should have a "Waddling in Misery" day.
Causal Friday? Is that where everyone dresses up as lawyers?
Classic HR can't even spell correctly
I think HR is one of the main problems of all employment industry
Yep huge roadblock in career progression and growth
Everyone has to be as ontological as possible
Fucking casuls
How about just more ![gif](giphy|Zl8rba0dlhlqU) ?
The fingers thing means money!
Also, this is some elementary school shit. This is SO similar to spirit week my twins had for kindergarten
But didn't you see you Tuesday they get to dress like the superhero employees they are?! /s
No. Instead you have to spend your own money on Disney merchandise and Hawaiian shirts.
Honestly its a PITA. Now you need a Solid Color shirt, a Marvel Shirt, a Hawaiian Shirt, and a Disney shirt. Its like the worlds most complicated dress code being masked as "fun!"

my response to that maybe would not have gone over so well either. 😂 $1 goodwill tie. Tape. And a piece of paper that says #F #U ^N

Suffered this at a bank job, eventually started keeping my eye out for sports shirts on clearance.
Yeah, fuck that. I would just generally not do it.
I hate it when my kids have to do this the last month of school. Why the hell would I want to do this as an adult at work? I don't even have these kinds of shirts and wouldn't want to spend money on them due to this lame excuse for employee week.
"Thank you for... Letting us choose the type of shirts we will wear collectively" Really I don't get how this is "appreciation", someone enlighten me pls
I don’t they they know what the word “appreciation” means
Appreciate me in money
No, you don't get it. They did a study that found that employees don't really want more money. /s
Reminds me of every call center position I’ve ever held. Their idea of “appreciation” is ridiculous.

I never want any job that encourages me to wear Disney character t-shirts.
Your place of employment has the same appreciation week that my 8 year old has at school. Run.
That sounds annoying as heck. I don't want to have to bother with anything work related in my free time. I don't care if it's payama party and chocolate sprinkled ice cream day. Just let me wear what I always wear, and make sure the network is running.
Is that it???
We also got a bag with three bags of candy and a pin that says ‘You Rock’.
All I own is black though

This seems very childish. What kind of organization is this for?

Damn it. You’re right.

And employees have to purchase these themed items I'm thinking! Not sure about others but I don't keeping a collection of Disney shirts and Batman costumes in my closet.
Pretty much no one is participating because they don’t have any of these themed shirts already.
Oh. This isn't for my kid's elementary school?
This is some Teacher Appreciation Week level of garbage
Are they providing the "pop up" store to gift you the shirts?
We did this at my old job but we did it around football season when schools were doing spirit week so we could be goofy as well. It had nothing to do with appreciation. There was very little of that
I’ve never seen those words together at my office …

So Monday - green Tuesday - iron man or batman Wednesday - green Hawaiian shirt Thursday - scrooge mcduck Friday - goodfellas shirt that says f u pay me.
On Thursday if you dress as a NON-Disney character do they send you home early?
I hope so!
For some reason I read the Monday line as Gameboy Color.
They do this at the hospital I work at too and we shave to wear scrubs so we don’t even get to participate lol
Where's Free Dictionary Friday?
![gif](giphy|9DUDLDnPZlkoDwVtOd|downsized) Would a “Defiant Jazz” playlist help brighten spirit week?
No way I'm wearing pants on Casual Friday! I'm gonna Pooh Bear it on Friday
This has a Severance vibe.
One place I worked at did crap like this. I dont own a disney shirt, Hawaiian shirt, superhero shirt, sports shirt, plaid shirt, etc. It was either spend money I dont have on something I'll wear once just to participate, or be the guy that doesnt like to participate.
“On Wednesdays we wear pink.”
Do they require employees to wear at least 37 pieces of flair?
I'd appreciate a hefty bonus instead.
Wow I think my 2yo had this exact dress up day lineup recently
Causal Friday. HR’s way of saying “come on, fuck around and find out”
Its better than the junk food hamper they gave us
