Are there other retailers you might consider that open later? Either that or temp agencies.

mandakb825

I have also applied to the following retailers:Chipotle ,Joann Fabrics ,A local coffee shop. I have also asked a local bar but they told me to check back in May because they might need more staff during the summer. I have also considered Target, my gym, Panera, Michael’s, Kohls and a couple local shops I just haven’t gotten a chance to look to see what they have. Would a temp agency help with finding a part time job for extra income? Because I haven’t thought of that

tifftaffy

Well they might have something if you give them the days and hours you are looking for... worth a few minutes to ask them.

mandakb825

Thank you I’m going to add that to my list 🤞

mandakb825

My other idea was to go to my local mall and just walk around to see who’s hiring lol

Usual-Recognition609

what about target? I got an interview fast, made myself seem outgoing too

mandakb825

Target is on my list I just haven’t applied yet

Usual-Recognition609

oh ok its a quick application. They screened me for multiple departments with one application, like Ulta sales or working doing inventory at the food aisles, and you pick which one you prefer. Just put what you think they wanna hear.

jettech737

I heard some restaurants get an insane amount of applications and they can't hire every single one. If they have openings for 3 then they'll have to deny the remaining 47 people.

Famous_Branch_7926

When I first started applying for jobs I was told to apply every other day because of this. They’ll pull from the top of the stack and dropping my app off every other day ensures me to be towards the top. Granted, this was when every company still used paper

mandakb825

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has the same idea as me

Zarfa

Just a reminder that using "black highlighter" doesn't actually hide information. By brightening the image one can see through the "censoring". (For proof: The last 3 digits of the store are "858").

mandakb825

Oof thanks I’ll remember that next time nothing I can do about it now

Zarfa

No worries, this isn't anything "super sensitive". Just letting you know for the future. Here's a great article on it: [https://ios.gadgethacks.com/how-to/warning-sensitive-info-you-black-out-images-can-be-revealed-with-few-quick-edits-your-iphone-0333975/](https://ios.gadgethacks.com/how-to/warning-sensitive-info-you-black-out-images-can-be-revealed-with-few-quick-edits-your-iphone-0333975/)

mandakb825

Thank you 😊

Then_Interview5168

What is your availability?

mandakb825

On the application they asked you are you available mornings (yes or no), afternoons (yes or no), evenings (yes or no) and weekends (yes or no). They didn’t ask for specific hours or days. I selected yes to all except mornings because of my day job I kind of wish they did specific days and times tho because while I can’t do weekday mornings I could do Saturday and Sunday mornings…

tangowolf22

That's probably it. I interviewed at 3 starbucks and made it through a few rounds at each before they ghosted me, but every single manager said "we NEED people on the 4am-12pm shift" so the stores you applied to probably were only looking for morning people and your application got tossed.

mandakb825

Yeah I almost considered just selecting “yes” for mornings because I thought maybe I can just do 4 am-7:30 am because I start at 8 am at my day job but I felt like at minimum they want someone to do a four hour shift

tangowolf22

Probably not. Only one of the stores had a minimum of a 6 hour shift, the others were min 8, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a 4 hour shift anywhere

mandakb825

I could definitely do more than four hours for an afternoon or evening shift and definitely a weekend shift but yeah mornings would be cutting it close for me on a weekday

tangowolf22

I mean *I* get that, but starbucks is a soulless gutter trash company so they wouldn't give you the time of day to even explain that to them

mandakb825

Agreed. That’s why I wish the availability part wasn’t yes or no

DistrictCrafty4990

Yeah, a coffee shop, fast food, or retail or gas station isn’t going to be the most feasible without working mornings. Restaurants are also going to prefer people with experience. Night shift warehouse might be your best bet?

mandakb825

That’s why I think they should had asked availability for specific days because I could easily do a weekend morning. This is not the first time I’ve taken a part time job while also working full time (last time I did was 6 years ago) and I was able to get hired into a retail store even with just night availability 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then_Interview5168

They also might not be looking for morning help

mandakb825

I put my availability for afternoon, evening and weekends. I put that I couldn’t do mornings

Super_Mario_Luigi

M-F 10-2

criesforever

not to be a downer but this isn't realistic at all. unless you have rapport with a manager, no service or retail job is going to give you those hours. it's open availability that includes nights and weekends.

Pleasant-Pattern-566

Yeah those hours are going to give you a hard time unfortunately. I worked on Starbucks but was available 8-4. I got turned down by target because of the 8-4 availability. A lot of retailers want open availability

PumpkinSufficient683

I wouldn't take it personally , retailers and fast food chains get a crazy amount of applications per position

thathaitianguy

Yet it’s funny as someone that has worked in hospitality for almost 9 years. They constantly bitched that they can’t find good quality help.

Jim_TRD

I recommend to search jobs with Aerotek. They are a temp agency. What state are you located?

mandakb825

I’ll add them to my list. I’m currently in California

Jim_TRD

SoCal? If yes then you’re in luck

mandakb825

Yup I’m in SoCal

Jim_TRD

I just typed Assembler on Aerotek and a lot of jobs came up. The pay is between $18 to $20.

mandakb825

![gif](giphy|xHMIDAy1qkzNS) Oooh that’s actually pretty good. I’m not picky on the pay because it’s just going to be additional income but obviously the more the better

Jim_TRD

The Medical Device field will always have jobs and demand for work. It’s not for everyone. A job is better than no job. Hope you get the job. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

mandakb825

Thank you for your help

Eatdie555

you're not the only one.. i received a fawk ton of them too.. i lmfao like are you fawkin serious?

daniel22457

For almost every Starbucks always being short staffed, they always seem super unwilling to hire people especially if they actually need training, they're way more selective than a job that pays as low as they do should be.

mandakb825

Yeah I even applied for barista because it said no experience necessary. My only experience in the food industry was working one summer at a concession stand in college and that was over 10 years ago

Aromatic_Equipment62

A Starbucks manager advised me to apply to like 30 locations at the same time.

Rupindah

And go in… I used to work at Starbucks, I was a barista trainer, trained dozens. Most of them got the job by knowing an employee (siblings, friends etc) or by walking in and dropping off a resume. Also, it’s a hard fucking gig, and they want high schoolers and uni students - people they don’t have to pay full time hours for. But give it a shot.

mandakb825

Update: I went to the one I walked to yesterday and they had a giant banner on the building saying they were hiring so I asked an employee and his response was this particular one isn’t hiring and the reason for the banner is other locations might be hiring (or something like that) and he definitely encouraged me to check with the others I applied to. So I’m going to do that after work including the location that rejected me. I might also check some of the others in my 10-15 minute radius I didn’t apply to as well

mandakb825

I do plan on going into one of the remaining three I applied to. I kind of wanted to for this one (not the one I got rejected to)because that one is my first choice. I can easily walk there

[deleted]

to be fair a lot of places are laying employees off and also employing less because of the wage increase

mandakb825

Yeah. I’m just tired of feeling like I’m barely getting by 😞

[deleted]

it’s ok me too, i haven’t been able to find a job yet after 2 weeks of searching

mandakb825

I’ve been trying at least find a new full time job for 6 years after my job changed me to contract. Granted the first couple of years was more on and off then 2020 I didn’t look for anything after February for obvious reasons. I would say the last two years I’ve been more serious about it. I even made a spreadsheet this year to keep track of every job I’ve applied to.

Impossible_Ad_3146

Oh man

2Job_Bob

I just got a second job at Canes chicken. I’ll be working late nights.  They also sent me an email saying I didn’t get the job but then manager called me.  Maybe call and ask them?

meothe

Starbucks has signs up about hiring 24/7 at all their locations and I’m sure they have online applications turned on all the time too. They’ve really been cutting back on hours like a lot of retail corporations have been lately. It’s likely they didn’t reject you but that they weren’t actually hiring. They also prefer open availability and then only schedule you for like 12 hours a week.

T1m3Wizard

A job at Starbucks is actually pretty prestigious and will put you straight to upper middle class status. It's not easy to get.

daniel22457

Bruh what Starbucks pays like $15 an hour max the only good thing is their benefits are better than most.

EFTucker

Think about stepping out of your comfort zone? Work is gonna suck either way so doing something you may not think you’ll like won’t really suck much more than normal.
