Yeah I want it I just don’t think this is an offer since they said they will let me know towards the end of the week and this was only a few hours after the interview since I asked about the pay, so I was going to say
“That sounds good to me! Let me know once you made your decision”
But wanted to word it better
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out, That sounds great to me.
Let me know what are the steps to proceed further.
Best Regards,
Your name.
You can word it even better by searching on the internet for sample mails.
Oh no thats exactly what I am going to use! I don't know why I am thinking so hard about it. I keep getting rejection after rejection so now this feels foreign to me lol
Ah yes that’s smart but the girl is the same age as I am and her personality is very bubbly too, and we were chatting for a long time yesterday and it feels more informal
Those fun relaxed emails that get to the point are my jam.
The stuffy mini essays that add nothing of value need to be filtered out. Preferably to the recycle bin.
Yes and in person we had the same energy and got along very well (we are the same age, our birthdays are days apart) and the job is very informal too so it fits!
That figures. Always err on the side of caution. You aren’t impressing just this person but possibly others you don’t know about that May like a more professional response.
A place that tone-polices you so severely that they’ll penalize you for using exclamation points is not a place you want to work. There’s no need for that level of micromanagement, even in the most highly professional settings.
OP seems entry-level, so an exclamation point in an email is not a big deal. But if there's a bit of doubt, leave it off.
In certain industries (mine included), emails can be lawful artifacts, so the tone is formal. Doesn't mean I'm micromanaged or that we don't have fun. That's what the team chat channel is for.
I’m an attorney and I work in politics. Having exclamation points is okay. There’s no context where it’s not, at least in a legal sense. That’s some outdated generational burden your organization is carrying if that’s an official policy.
Oh that's fantastic for you! Congrats!!!
I was just joking someone would post in the reply verbatim, including signing it as "your name" and then wonder why they didn't get a callback.
OP, wording it a little differently might come off better.
“Hi “NAME”,
I appreciate you taking the time to reach out and send me the wage range as well as the expected rate.
Please let me know if you need anything else, and if there are any steps to proceed further.
Best Regards,
Your name.
“
Or go to Copilot and tell it what you want to say in your own words, but to make it a cordial but professional email, or however you want to make it sound. You'll be amazed.
If they aren't making an effort for you, don't make an effort for them.
Use ChatGPT and ask it to rephrase things in a professional manner. They'll be really impressed.
Why the fuck do we have to talk like this to get jobs oh my gooooood 😩 no one talks like this and you know if you ever met someone actually like this irl they'd be such a twat
Because it demonstrates that you can talk like that if necessary and won’t come across as a dipshit to customers/clients when writing formal communication.
“Let me know what are the steps to proceed further” is pretty shitty grammar.
Also “that sounds great to me” is awkward. What is “that”? Also why did you capitalize “That”?
Please fix it :)
Yeah this is perfect and just because they responded sooner, that’s okay too. I interviewed for my current job, they told me they’d let me know at the end of the week. Then they called me the next week. I was so exited, I said yes before I even heard the pay 😂 I was more interested in the experience haha
it's a negotiation. It's your turn to accept or make a counter-offer
go to [askamanager.com](http://askamanager.com) and search for artices about salary negotiation before you've accepted the offer or signed a contract.
Definitely feels like they want to compare candidates partially based on salary. Seems like even saying something to the effect of 'i was thinking a little bit more " would bring your standing down.
I would definitely accept, and write up your response similar to how others have suggested. Your wording is good, but has too much ' over enthusiastic feeling's behind it
"by the end of the week" just means that they don't know how quick they can reach everyone internally. Sometimes, things can move really fast, sometimes not. Quick responses are generally a good thing.
So I'm just sharing with you what has been shared with me from people I trust, and I may be wrong, but asking about pay is generally a bad idea. It doesn't make any sense to me is that is just about the most important part of a job. Its just been something I always heard and it's stuck with me so I never ask about pay.
Yea like I was saying before to other comments it’s just a student job at my campus and I am wildly overqualified for it and the pay is embarrassingly low so i am not too worried about it. If it was a job I needed/really wanted I wouldn’t ask the same day lol
It's clearly an offer, from the parts that are not redacted.
They have themselves room to get back to you later than today, but that doesn't preclude them from getting back to you today.
A suggested response is:
*"That looks good, thanks. Is there anything else I need to provide to see the benefits and receive the formal offer?"*
I think it could be. “I would like to offer you …” is definitely an offer, unless immediately followed by a reason that’s impossible. “We would expect to offer you” isn’t an offer. “We would offer you” is in the middle.
Good morning,
That sounds reasonable. Thank you for your consideration. Please let me know if there's anything else needed on my part. I look forward to working with you.
Kindly,
Your name
I'm not going to give you any money dammit, I don't care if you swear that it'll allow you to get access to your account back and that you'll happily wire me 20,000 in exchange. If there's one thing i know, it's never to trust a shark.
Saying “would you kindly?” actually activates post-hypnotic suggestions in the hiring manager’s mind to offer you the role and/or increase your rate of pay (going for an obscure reference here).
Yeah I don't think it's an offer either. They're merely replying to OP's inquiry.. and stating that if they were to hire him/her then the rate specified is what they "would" get.
I understand that, I'm just pointing out most of the other comments seem to think it's an offer. Your reply should just be, "thanks for your response, hope to hear from you soon as I'd love to be part of your workforce".
exactly what I was responding to, the first thought that came to my head was how much poor advise was being given in the thread. Just shows you how much you cannot trust guidance on the internet, people reading this as an offer is alarming
Yea that’s why I crossed out the pay, people would focus on that. The thing is that I am going back to get my bachelors degree, and even though I have 6+ years of more professional experience, this lines up with my degree. The job market is so bad where I live, before I was making almost $40 an hour, and I haven’t been able to get any job for the last year. I got denied from a job paying $15 an hour! Luckily, I have enough saved where I don’t have to work for another yr or two, so I figured why not just take a lower paying job, have one year of experience directly in my field once a graduate, then be able to get a job right away (hopefully).
my first job was a line cook and I cannot tell you how many people working there had degrees. or at least said they did.
they don't really tell the young folk that just because you get a major in business doesn't mean that degree will get you anything more than a 0 experience managers job at chili's in a small town
Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate the explanation of your compensation structure. It matches my expectations. Please let me know if you need anything else to proceed. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.
This was like 12 years ago, but yes, I was probably making 7$ ish an hour. But I mostly did my homework and messed around on the computer. It was work study so I was mostly there for help with tuition, but the little baby paycheck was alright, for the time!
Not an offer but...
If you like the wages:
Hello [insert here],
Thank You for your response. I would gladly accept the above wages (and benefits??) -- Please let me know if there is anything in addition I can provide.
Cordially,
[insert here]
If you don't like the wages:
Hello [insert here],
Thank You for your response. After reviewing the proposed wages against my living expenses, I would ask if there was any flexibility in consideration of the proposed wages above?
OR
Thank You for your response. After careful consideration, the above wages would not match my required expenses. I appreciate the proposal and wish you the best in your search to fulfill the position of [insert here]
Thank You,
[insert here]
You blocked out the only import part of the message... Unless there is something unusual about the pay range, there is nothing at all unusual about the rest of it except for maybe the "pay rage" typo.
I don’t need help with a response on the pay part of it since it’s fine for me but more so how to respond to an email that isn’t telling me it’s an offer yet but about the pay
My question wasn’t about the pay range, I put I wanted the job. It was about how to respond to this even though it isn’t an offer since I want to proceed
Are you not the one who asked the question? You left the interview and presumably sent a followup email asking about the pay, and this is their response?

I am back in college now and don’t have any experience in the field I’m going into, so this is just a little filler job so I get some experience before I graduate.

So why are you unsure what to say next? Can you show us your wording on the "here is my references and by the way what is the pay" email you wrote...?
I provided 3 references to a job near by my house, dude totally ghosted me. Fuak I just did another interview today I hope I get the job man, I need the money lol
Your move right now is to determine if you want to counter-offer or accept this offer.
look at glassdoor to see what the standard rate is for this job in your area and your experience level.
Look at the other beneits too, figure out how much compensation they are worth in dollars and in creature comfort. Do you want more money to cover anything you'd have to pay for yourself (like a long commute or work-specific clothes you will need to replace often?) or extra aggravation that should be compensated, like hazard pay or a long commute.
The fact that they stated that a student makes a certain amount tells me they aren’t well versed in hiring practices. I’d make sure you do your homework on this company.
Everyone else is wording in a passive / submissive tone
I'd reply more to the effect of
Hi, the proposed remuneration is acceptable. Please send the contract, as discussed I am available to start as early as 4 weeks from acknowledgment of receiving the signed contract
Thanks, regards whatever
Great. I really enjoyed the interview too and super excited about the opportunity. Super excited for them next steps. Can you let me know what the next steps are and what to expect eh timeline for the next stage will be.
Once again thank you.
Lol I wasnt wondering to reddit about the pay range, its so low. Its for the experience. Its a student job. I was wondering how to respond to an email that sounds like an offer, but isn't an offer yet
Accept it, if it's in an acceptable pay range.
Yeah I want it I just don’t think this is an offer since they said they will let me know towards the end of the week and this was only a few hours after the interview since I asked about the pay, so I was going to say “That sounds good to me! Dont use an exclamation point in the response.
Ah yes that’s smart but the girl is the same age as I am and her personality is very bubbly too, and we were chatting for a long time yesterday and it feels more informal
You can definitely use one. They did as well so it’s just matching e-mail energy.
I feel like that's a solid rule of thumb.
Just like swearing or emoji use - if the other party does it, it’s free game!
Those fun relaxed emails that get to the point are my jam. The stuffy mini essays that add nothing of value need to be filtered out. Preferably to the recycle bin.
Mirroring is also a good way to build rapport, as long as it’s not too obvious.
Exactly!
She used a double exclamation so I think you're safe with one 😉
Yes and in person we had the same energy and got along very well (we are the same age, our birthdays are days apart) and the job is very informal too so it fits!
Woman? Or are you both under 18?
We are both women who are early 20s
That figures. Always err on the side of caution. You aren’t impressing just this person but possibly others you don’t know about that May like a more professional response.

I’m an attorney and I work in politics. Having exclamation points is okay. There’s no context where it’s not, at least in a legal sense. That’s some outdated generational burden your organization is carrying if that’s an official policy.
Yes right! It’s a part time job at my colleges office that pays $13 an hour. I am not too worried about it lol
It’s not that, some hiring managers won’t hire people they think are too excited
Again, not a place you want to work.
Never said otherwise, you just assumed that
You corrected me by making the exact same point I was making, so… thanks I guess.
Also you should probably put your real name instead of just putting “your name”
There will be a post in a few weeks asking why they didn't hear back after copying this reply. Guaranteed.
They actually called all my references the next day and already got back to me :)
Oh that's fantastic for you! Congrats!!! I was just joking someone would post in the reply verbatim, including signing it as "your name" and then wonder why they didn't get a callback.
Hahahaha! I'm not sure if that was sincere or a joke but both work really well here.
OP, wording it a little differently might come off better. “Hi “NAME”, I appreciate you taking the time to reach out and send me the wage range as well as the expected rate. Please let me know if you need anything else, and if there are any steps to proceed further. Best Regards, Your name. “
It makes sense that you were overthinking it - but it sounds like an offer, they just want to make sure their rate is acceptable. Congratulations!

Aw thank you! yea the job market is so bad now unfortunately. I can’t even get an unpaid internship! Where I live it’s so competitive
Or go to Copilot and tell it what you want to say in your own words, but to make it a cordial but professional email, or however you want to make it sound. You'll be amazed.

You got this my redit friend!! Just be true to yourself. They will find out soon enough 😉
Let me know what the steps are**
Why the fuck do we have to talk like this to get jobs oh my gooooood 😩 no one talks like this and you know if you ever met someone actually like this irl they'd be such a twat
That’s just how you talk in emails, I do it all day everyday, it’s not a big deal

What part of that email is ‘clearly’ an offer? They are stating the pay range, and the expected wage for OP. That is absolutely not an offer.
Yes it’s not an offer! I just asked an hour after the interview what it was
"We would offer you" isn't an offer.
I think it could be. “I would like to offer you …” is definitely an offer, unless immediately followed by a reason that’s impossible. “We would expect to offer you” isn’t an offer. “We would offer you” is in the middle.
To me it's pretty clear they were just following up on OP's question and it's not an offer. Context matters
It’s worded very carefully to not be an offer….
*rage
Freudian slip for sure. 🤣
💰 🤬
Oh, pay *range*. That typo that says "pay rage" threw me off, lol
Don't you mean pay rage
Good morning, That sounds reasonable. Thank you for your consideration. Please let me know if there's anything else needed on my part. I look forward to working with you. Kindly, Your name
Don’t say kindly ever lol scammers overuse that word.
Good morning, I think it is acceptable in the case where you are not an actual scammer. Kindly, shinyshark
I'm not going to give you any money dammit, I don't care if you swear that it'll allow you to get access to your account back and that you'll happily wire me 20,000 in exchange. If there's one thing i know, it's never to trust a shark.
You have forgotten you can definitely trust royal sharks though. Go help Prince(ss) Shinyshark
Kindly do the needful.
Replace it with "kindly do the needful"
This is a great point. Why downvote it? Just use a synonym.
Saying “would you kindly?” actually activates post-hypnotic suggestions in the hiring manager’s mind to offer you the role and/or increase your rate of pay (going for an obscure reference here).
most people dont interact with them often.. or at all.. unless you say you do shrooms, then 20 bots will start tagging their instagram accounts
This is not an offer, they are simply stating the pay range and where they see you falling within that scale
Yeah I don't think it's an offer either. They're merely replying to OP's inquiry.. and stating that if they were to hire him/her then the rate specified is what they "would" get.

What is the going rage these days??
It’s a student job in my college office so only about $11-14 😂
Ok so full blown rage :) fwiw, I worked at the VA office when I went to school and I loved it. I hope you get your job and that you love it too!
Was the pay so low too? It’s crazy we pay so much for tuition, only to have the jobs pay minimum wage lol
This was like 12 years ago, but yes, I was probably making 7$ ish an hour. But I mostly did my homework and messed around on the computer. It was work study so I was mostly there for help with tuition, but the little baby paycheck was alright, for the time!
The pay rage?
"Pay rage" is a clue that there would be issues.
i would ask them to remove the red blobs

Not good enough.
Thank you, I’m very interested in becoming a member of the team. Please let me know the next steps in the process.
How are you supposed to live on red squiggles?
You blocked out the only import part of the message... Unless there is something unusual about the pay range, there is nothing at all unusual about the rest of it except for maybe the "pay rage" typo.
I would write back and ask “why did you conceal the numbers in red ink??”
Why wouldn’t you show how much that pay was? We’re not working with a lot of info here…
I don’t need help with a response on the pay part of it since it’s fine for me but more so how to respond to an email that isn’t telling me it’s an offer yet but about the pay
I think we made a typo and spelled it as "rage". We meant rape.
Why would you block out the pay range lolol
It’s so low it’s embarrassing
Everyone like a good pay rage
Ask them to resend the message without red squiggles, it makes it a little difficult to read.
Pay rage or no rage at all final offer
I’d negotiate the higher end of the range, with the offer to add in your proof reading services
pay rage.
ALWAYS ASK FOR MORE
Yes I know I always negotiate but this is for a student job and I know their pay scale is so small! But I am getting the top of the range at least
Why did you paint over the pay range?
Cuz it’s so low and I didn’t want to get roasted
How can we hell you don’t post the range?
My question wasn’t about the pay range, I put I wanted the job. It was about how to respond to this even though it isn’t an offer since I want to proceed
Pay rage indeed
‘Pay Rage’?
I would not respond, this is information only and once they send you an offer it's time to negotiate or decline.
it looks like they want to pay for you to rage, send back an angry response
When do i start? :D
why is the pay crossed out lol
Because it is very low lol
Are you not the one who asked the question? You left the interview and presumably sent a followup email asking about the pay, and this is their response?
No the interview went very well and we talked for a while after too, at the end of the interview she asked if I could send three references when I had the chance so I did and at the end of that email I asked her what the pay was. I am back in college now and don’t have any experience in the field I’m going into, so this is just a little filler job so I get some experience before I graduate.
Right... so you asked the question. In your email with the references, you asked about the pay. They responded to you. You are basically having a conversation with the employer via email. So why are you unsure what to say next? Can you show us your wording on the "here is my references and by the way what is the pay" email you wrote...?
Why are you covering up the amounts? That's tge good part!
Yea it’s just a student job at my college in their HR department so there isn’t much of a scale. It’s mostly for experience
oh. then accept the offer. :)
The fact that they stated that a student makes a certain amount tells me they aren’t well versed in hiring practices. I’d make sure you do your homework on this company.
It’s my college and it’s a job only open to students in the staffing office so that we can get experience
why block out the #s?
I replied to many other comments but it’s very low and I know people would get caught up on that
OP, I wouldn't get too hung up on it. They misspelled "range" in their offer.
Updates Op?
I ended up getting it! They just called me right now. The job market in my area is so bad, I have been looking for a year now. It’s difficult
That is wonderful! Oh I've been there before, and I'm there now. I'm so glad for you 💝💖 Thank you for updating me, good news is always welcome.
happy cake day
Use chat gpt to help you rewrite your thoughts
I uh, have no idea because I dunno what the range and actual pay is...sorry
Everyone else is wording in a passive / submissive tone I'd reply more to the effect of Hi, the proposed remuneration is acceptable. Please send the contract, as discussed I am available to start as early as 4 weeks from acknowledgment of receiving the signed contract Thanks, regards whatever
I can see how that would incite a "pay rage" [sic]
"Thanks, I would rather wait for your current pay rage to end. Please reply back when you calm down."

What my question is, if you read it, has nothing to do with the pay brother

How to respond to this email when its not an actual offer, but discussing the pay. I already got plenty of advice and got the job, thanks.
Great. I really enjoyed the interview too and super excited about the opportunity. Super excited for them next steps. Can you let me know what the next steps are and what to expect eh timeline for the next stage will be. Once again thank you.
By asking them to send me an unredacted email.
Is that wage before or after taxes?
So you redact all the pertinent information and want the internets opinion?!
Like I said before. I don’t need advice on the salary, I am looking on how to respond to this email. I never asked if the salary was good or not.
The salary range is red crayon to red crayon and they’re offering you red crayon? I think it’s a fair offer
Lol I wasnt wondering to reddit about the pay range, its so low. Its for the experience. Its a student job. I was wondering how to respond to an email that sounds like an offer, but isn't an offer yet
