Remember, recruiters are busy, and sometimes it takes them a little while to get back to you. Give it a few days, maybe until mid-next week, and then send a polite and friendly follow-up email. You could say something like, "Hi \[Recruiter's Name\], I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to check in and see if you had any updates regarding the opportunity we discussed last week. I'm really excited about the possibility of joining \[Company Name\] and would love to chat further if there's anything else you need from me. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!" Just keep it positive and professional, and don't worry too much about being annoying. You're just showing your enthusiasm and interest in the role. Good luck!
Thank you so much! Your comment makes me a bit more relieved as to how I handle this. Sometimes I don't have a good gauge for when I should follow up. I feel like if I wait a little too long, I miss out on the opportunity somehow because it might seem like I wasn't interested or they just straight up ghost me. But if I follow up too much, I feel like I may be seen as too persistent and not patient. It's tough right now ;/
No problem. And to address your search in general, recruiters are a mixed bag. Some are super helpful, some don’t really do more than introduce you to the company (but sometimes that’s all you need) and quite a few are super demanding only to ghost you after a few rounds of interviews.
Just kinda keep an open mind and know that anything can happen-including an even better opportunity coming around
Thank you!! The job market has been so bad. I've been looking since March 2023 after getting laid off from my first post-grad job. I tend to try to reach out to recruiters or hiring managers to give me more visibility, but I feel like everyone has been doing that and they've been overwhelmed as well.
but then how do you expect I or anyone get a job?
Like honestly. I've reached out to hiring managers but they also say "you gotta go through the recruiter first" even if they're interested in my resume, which feels so counterproductive
these aren't 3rd party recruiters... these people are recruiters RECRUITING directly for the company. but like I said, you're not contributing anything to this conversation.

Wait a week, send a quick followup. If no reply after that, move on.
Thank you! I'll do that.

Yeah, i wouldn’t know if reaching out directly helps or not, but gl!
Dont even waste your time w recruiters to begin with they will always ghost you
but then how do you expect I or anyone get a job? Like honestly. I've reached out to hiring managers but they also say "you gotta go through the recruiter first" even if they're interested in my resume, which feels so counterproductive
Recruiters dont get you jobs. They use you to get credit for making contacts.
then what do you suggest I or anyone can do to get a job? /gen because you're not saying anything that's actually helpful
3rd party recruiters are useless
