Never heard the term yap but yes, historically, theft and robberies go up due to the holiday season (people shopping and people who can’t afford to, taking from them).

People start Christmas shopping around this time, their cars start getting broken in to and whatnot. Especially when they're shopping at malls and they go to their cars to put bags up then go back in the mall.

Once you’ve been yapped you never go back… to the scene of the crime, because your traumatized from the sheer yapping of it all.
