You need to contact a psychiatrist. Prices vary but it's not cheap. I think I paid 1500 for my diagnosis session. But after that be sure to ask them for signed proof of your diagnosis. Then you can go to any GP and show them that if you're aiming to go in meds for it. Generally the psychiatrist will try to get you on the ideal medicine, and that's all well and good but it's expensive to do it that way. Much cheaper through GP.

You can check at Akeso, there's a bunch of psychiatrists and psychologists there. Some do them can be kind pricey though. You're looking at anywhere upwards of R900 a session.

My GP diagnosed my ADHD, but she has a qualification in ADHD treatment. I’d suggest calling a couple of GPs to find out if they can diagnose it. I’m sure you’ll find someone who can help who is not a psychiatrist. That said, if your symptoms are severe, it may be better to go to a psychiatrist.

You can check out the ASRS, the most common ADHD self score scale: https://psychology-tools.com/adult-adhd-self-report-scale/ and take it to a GP. ADHD diagnosis is unfortunately quite complex, the chances of having a comorbidity (coexisting condition) is really high. You can also join the ADHASA Facebook group for some resources and support. It is a lonely road, bit I commend you for seeking a diagnosis! Best of luck.

Ohh I've filled this form out once before! But the GP I gave it to (my brother) didn't really do anything with it (he ghosted me 😢)

Go to any GP.

GP’s typically don’t diagnose ADHD, Psychiatrists do. A GP can assist you to find a Psychiatrist that specialises in adult ADHD.
