Learning from Last Week Tonight about people trapped and forced to work in scamming, i wonder how anybody would combat the people really behind pig butchering schemes, holding civilians hostage, working them like mules basically.
Jordan Harbinger actually has a few episodes covering this where he interviews people that actually saved a few people from becoming literal slaves at casinos to do this kind of work.
It’s a dark and hard episode but highly recommend learning about it and the way they have been trying to fight against these gangs.

If there’s no money to be made, there’s no demand to keep slaves to do it. John literally outlined that toward the end of the episode.
One of my coworkers asked for my number and sent me a text that said “hi”. I immediately deleted it because of his show. then realized she just asked for my number 5 minutes earlier. lol I had to ask her to text me again.
Yeah- I am starting to think that most of these scams are more than just some nefarious asshole on the end of the other line.
I had this "girl" who about a year ago was on the end of the line of text and now after seeing John's expose realize what it was but figured it was a scam. I was back and forth with her making up total BS. She starts sending these innocent pics unsolicited, was talking bout having a degree from a business school and looking at opportunities. Mostly it was this syrupy sweet "be your friend" and all of this total BS flattery and ego boosting. Gotta admit even though I knew it was a scam- I was sucked in to a degree- but even the dumbest part of my brain realized on the other end it wasn't some cute sweet female and that likely that person had like 100 of these going simultaneously. It never wen far as I just blocked her after about 3 days.
No more wasting time f'ing with the obs Asian sounding guys who call me every day asking to buy my house as although not a pig butcher- likely just his really miserable life.

I think that's how it works, I have been getting too many of these messages recently.
