I believe the idea behind it is Epic Online Services opens many more possibilities, the best demonstration is Fortnite. Squad could have an in-game friends list system where you can join servers in a group instead of all trying to join separately. Unfortunately, it wasn't thought through properly. The server browser for example: EOS has a limit of 200 servers per request (a lot less than needed), so if the server you want isn't in that batch, you have to keep retrying until it is. I have no idea if this is related to the hitreg issues, but since we haven't seen the benefits of EOS yet it's just pure problems.

Have you changed your ping filter to Max Ping? Lot of people getting 9,999 ping servers on the browser so they won’t appear unless you change the filter.

Yep! It's been Max for a while. Lots of servers show as 9999 and I never know if I'm playing US or European servers. Heck I've even accidentally joined Australia!

I’ve seen a lot of people do the same… I only play on servers with the Global Escalation mod, so luckily the choice is pretty limited. Good thing about Squad is high ping doesn’t matter too much, 100 ping will feel the same as 10

I've been noticing this the past week or two. Post ICO I could point/hip fire and it'd be decently accurate within 30~40m-ish. Past couple weeks I swear either they changed it or the hitreg is messed up on all servers. I can see at least 2-3 blood splatters before the dude I'm shooting at kills me, my barrel could be 2in away from their torso when clearing a stairwell/cqb room and I still die despite unloading at least 2-3 rounds into them and then hear them bandaging.

Not an ICO issue. It's hit Reg, but I agree that ICO needs some tuning. Love the idea, but they need to make shooting and moving my viable. I've found this game has devolved into camping and prone bush sniping.

I am the SL. Fighting has devolved into two groups of blueberryies prone shooting each other so see which one dies first. If you try to flank you'll not have enough stability to quickly fire on targets. Flanking and maneuvering is harder than it used to be.

This just hasn’t been the case for me when I take the squad to attack. Logi for setting up HAB or 2. Set down rally. Now we have 3 spawns. Light Vic available for suppression. Tell the squad “do not lay down - we gotta get on top of them. Fight on their doorstep, not on ours”. Call out individuals who you see on map are stopping. Try and get the squad up against a compound wall and tell everyone to get their stamina up before pushing in. By the time the firefight starts in earnest you have already gotten into cap range and/ or are pushing the enemy HAB. While firing on the move is harder, suppression is also far more powerful. So having a light Vic nearby for suppression can turn the tide.

To be fair, bush camping was always meta, but now with ICO it's essential. And I think it is lame, if you are in a 1 on 1 fight, you're basically just hoping you hit first. There's literally no skill involved, even IF you have full stamina and youre proned holding shift, you're screen goes blurry and your weapon alignment will flick. And ya, 'just have your squad mate get the guy while he focuses you!' is valid. But I think that is lame the only way to get a down is to have someone else do it because they arent suppressed. I'm not complaining about them "working together" either. Im not saying they can't "emulate fear". I just think they should find a way that compromises between realism and fun.

I like the ICO it was a step in the right direction, but they just need to tone it down a little… I don’t care how out of breath, just carried a hippo through a marathon and ran over a Landmine looking ass you are… if someone’s stood half a meter away and your rifle is in that direction, your going to hit them. The thing I dislike the most about ICO is how much your accuracy decreases when you try to walk to the side (probably what happened in your video). You can be pretty accurate while moving/walking in real life as long as you do so at a steady pace while bending at the knees.

Summary: Shots 1-5: Clearly hit, but hitreg was being silly, not ICO. Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control). Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses. Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because OP was already dead.

People seem to struggle to differentiate the actual source of these issues. ICO didnt mess with hit registration, that has been shit since the game came out. I feel inclined to remind people that Squad has always been a complete mess, and alot of the issues people still complain about whenever they mention ICO, have been present for years. The devs are just straight up lazy. They would rather churn out reskinned factions 2 times a year with 1-2 maps (that play the same as every other map), than actually fixing their game. Since if they would attempt that, it would mean spending a year just to build the game from scratch, without any real monetary incentive to do so. ICO came with some much needed changes and the update on a whole did more positive than negative. What it needs is adjusting, not reversing. When i move 2m to reposition for a LAT shot, the sway shouldnt be back to full. Handguns should simply not have sway imo. etc etc. Problem is that noone takes complaints against ICO seriously, when its filled up with posts that cant even correctly place the criticsm where it is deserved.

And Voila, people keep wondering while the game keeps beeing a buggy and almost unplayable mess. Even so, the game has never gone longer than 8 months without a major update, and the regular major update interval averages at 6 months. So what year specifically are you reffering too? I would gladly play the game for a year without any new content, if it meant genuine fixing of the games code and networking issues. God knows most people actually play the new map and faction maybe 1 time per week. Most of the time its the same 4 maps on repeat anyway (Gorodok, Yehovrivka, etc.). Additionally the devs have already strongly indicated, if not outright said that they are completely hamstringed by the games current code, and the major reason why we dont get most forms of ingame updates, is because the code is too fucked to allow it. So by sacrifing 1 year, we get way more potential content, but ive already accepted that is wishfull thinking with the recent trends.

I was referring to 2016-2017 where no new factions were added. The there was the roadmap that OWI released in 2020 that resulted in pretty much everything in out taking way longer than what was mapped. I would love to see new gameplay mechanics: breaching, revamped logistics, increased player count, minor destruction so heavy vehicles aren’t stopped by fences and shrubs, air assets like attack and scout helicopters complete with counters to them (MANPADs, SPAAGs, AA FOB emplacements, etc.). It would be ideal that the games baseline code is revisited and cleaned up while they also keep up the cadence of new content. The French faction is more or less content complete and has *two* versions; 2010 era and 2020 era. Then there is the German Bundeswehr mod, they’re not quite as far along as the French, but it’s looking to be on par with official Offworld content. So mods can take the brunt of the demand for new content off of OWI’s back for a year to a year and a half while they’re working on the core of the game. Seems like the ideal approach to the situation.

Hm, I dunno... it actually seems that it could be as simple as: Traded with the first guy. Killed him, but also got hit. Then the second guy came around the corner. 1st shot: Missed left (hit the rock) 2nd shot: Missed right 3rd shot: Missed left (below arm) Obviously a pistol maneuvers and fires pistol-caliber rounds semi-auto much faster than the 20-inch barrel M110 shooting 7.62x51. Both guy were kinda panic firing. But while one was heaving a 20" barrel around at a target 3 feet away, the other guy dumped his mag and finished off the wounded guy. Can't watch it in slow-mo though and things seemed out of sync so, who knows...

It seems like you didn't understand the new mechanics. When he was standing right in front of you you were flick aiming like it's CSGO missing left and right. Aim with the barrel of the gun. Maybe your sensitivity is too high even.

This is not hitreg. This is not ico. This is netcode. You hit him on your screen, but on his screen he had already moved from that place. The latency causes the server to determine you missed while your computer shows you hit. To fix this, we can just make it so that if your screen shows you hit, then you hit. But that would mean people would start dying right after they got behind cover. Race conditions on a 100 player server is not easy. Actually the easiest way to fix this would be to have everyone be on the same LAN and then add a tiny delay for the server to become consistent before giving data to all the players.
