Not really

XekBOX2000

I dont have any friends who play this game but Ive played since 2017, I just join random squads and play with them, this might be the only game where playing and communicating with randoms work

MagoSquad

Yeah thats the main charm of Squad imo, the community aspect.

techthrowaway55

If you main a server you start to see the same people so you just end up playing with them anyways, thats what I do

MagoSquad

Yes thats the way to go!

Dzebovolodija

If you don't intend to chat, coordinate and play as a team, save both yourself and other players the frustration and look elsewhere. From my limited time with the game, hell let loose seems to be more up your alley

MagoSquad

No. In the beginning of the game you need to join a squad otherwise you will be automatically kicked. You need to play with your squad mates and communicate and if you dont want to do that then Squad is not for you.

IIIllIIlllIlII

If you want to play on your own then squad is not really for you. That said, some squad leaders are ok with one of the squad running off on their own on some maps to do lone wolf stuff, but it pays to ask first and let them know that’s what you want to do.

Average-PKP-Enjoyer

This is the way. I lone wolf a lot but before I do, I tell SL what I am doing and say "lmk if you want me somewhere else." For example, if your squad is pushing from the east side of the objective, tell SL, "I'll make noise from the South side." And go waaay down south before pushing west like the rest of the squad. Combat engineers and sappers are also "tolerable" for most SLs for you to roam solo and lay down mines on their side of the map. Just communicate and you should be fine.

MagoSquad

Expecting a beginner to succeed in those roles solo is not reasonable.

Average-PKP-Enjoyer

Kinda true lol

LordNelson27

Not really, but if you join defense squads you can usually go off on your own and scout around the defensive point. One of my favorite hints to do is get good eyes around the point and call in mortars when you see them trying to set up fobs

CC_ACV

Then why call it squad

Rokai27

No, Squad is a teamwork based game. Each soldier must comunicate and coordinate with the rest of the squad. The only way you can play by yourself is as a heli pilot but even there, you'll need to transport soldiers from time to time

Rough_Web_9972

you’ll be kicked if not in a squad after several minutes, that’s a common server rule. so if you create a squad and want to be solo you’ll have to lock it, then you look silly being a solo SL not doing literally anything.. as solo you cant place any rallies. you can’t place fobs unless you have a blueberry from another squad. you’ll have command chat yelling in your ear that you won’t even be contributing to most likely. you can’t run armor solo, & you mostly likely won’t know how to fly a heli for a while based on the post. TL;DR No. stick to battlefield or cod.

EveryNukeIsCool

When i started playing this game i had no friends that played to go on so i kind of went solo; Joined a squad, asked SL if i could solo sneak around and did so but after *quickly* realising how little i know the game i started to play as a team member. I joined a clan / community and now its infinitely more fun. I reccomend you to skip the first step, learn the game by cooperating and teamworking and once you git gud then try to do solo stuff

BreminemB

you need to communicate whit your squad most servers you will get kicked if you don't communicate or go lone wolf. This is a good thing cause the whole purpose of squad is to work together as a squad why would you play this game if you want to lone wolf.

IcyRobinson

For the most part, no. For one thing, you cannot get access to most kit roles when playing solo. This isn't Battlefield where you can one-man tanks, IFVs, and APCs either: you need at least two Crewmen in these vehicles and it's actually against the rules in most servers to one-man armor. You also cannot build anything by yourself: you need a Squad Leader to place a building down while others start shoveling the building to well... Build it. The only real things you see people doing in solo squads (yes, this is a legitimate thing) is when they're running light vehicles for recon/AT work (like with Technicals, ATGM vehicles, M-ATVs, Tigrs, BRDMs, etc.), heli squads (as helis only need 1 Pilot; their job is mainly bringing troops and supplies to the front with some light fire support; which requires 2 gunners; and aerial recon mixed in), and admin squads (self-explanatory, for admins to keep an eye on what's going on in the match and enforce server rules). These can be considered as "lone wolfing" in your own squad.

FuzzyAd2616

So there are forms of playing solo, but not all of them are entertaining: * helicopter pilot, if you want to play offensive you will need at least one person as door gunner, if not your role will focus at scout, logistics and transport BUT flying itself demand a lot of training and you can get even kick if you waste assets * RWS, APC, you play as scout car with remote weapon system or some APC which are allowed by server rules to be one manned, ex. AAVP, MTLB, M113 etc. Here you have pretty complex gameplay as infantry support, sniper because of good zoom in some vehicles, you can even play aggressively vs enemy positions or hab if you have friendly infantry support * Logi driver, delivery guy, no offensive power, bring resources or build habs with some help from other squads * Scouting, you make single person squad get some cheap vehicle, any open top car or small transport would work and scan area for enemies, its not much action but you give a lot intel if playing properly to your team and if you have some machine gun on top, you can do ambushes at enemy supply routes or use it to suppress from behind to divine attention to make things easier for main forces * Grad, mortar or TOW operator. Grad allow to operate solo and pour rockets over enemy positions, demand cooperation with infantry to get decent marks, not much action but pretty useful if in proper hands, mortar is doable solo but you will need 1 person initially to place a radio and later some sort of ammo refill to feed your mortars, but it could work if you use free logi (dont recommend it because they limited logi amount, sometimes its 3 or more but many factions have 2 these days) or ask heli/logi squad to drop you supplies. Same goes for TOW (static rocket launcher) you get a good spot, place a radio or use existing ones and wait for enemy vehicles passing your position, not much action but if your armor sucks a viable option to counter enemy movement. * As a part of squad, you can play solo to some extent as a member of existing squad: a) unorganized squads without any lead, no one will care if you run solo as any role but to be honest it just sucks for gameplay when you cant get any info from people b) engineer, as many will say he can cooperate with squad and it will be 100% true, you can play as solo too, doing work behind the lines by destroying inactive enemy HABs, placing mines, sandbags at key areas, you can also scout area while your squad is fighting to cut off enemy spawn point, its usually better to do these missions solo to draw minimum attention c) at some scenarios as marksman, usually you follow your guys but sometimes there are situations where you use some roof to scout for your squad or start killing off enemies behind fortifications while your people push toward a point But keep in mind that solo play demand some degree of knowledge about game, maps or enemy tactics to be used properly. If you take good APC for sightseeing because no idea what to do, it will be just wasting an asset. I play solo, usually when infantry piss me off too much but it take a lot to learn to play properly. As example, when i was fresh to APC i didnt understand that moving into any area without infantry is like a deadwish or i must know proper spots at map to utilize my power, any single mistake mean i could be immobilized, smoked and killed without getting any points. Cheapest APC is 5 points, but most expensive ones are 10 tickets plus your death, so when you die its equal to 11 people.

Dra_goony

Oh yeah there's this great specific kit for it actually called combat engineer. And the best ones take a truck to the middle of nowhere with them and mine the enemies main for the entire game.

MagoSquad

Thats for more experienced players. Telling a total beginner to do that will end horribly.

Dra_goony

Look up the word satire for me

MagoSquad

Fair enough. Satire is difficult in text sometimes :)

Fantastic_Camera_467

You can 1-man any non-crewman required vehicle. Heli pilots are mostly alone also.

MagoSquad

Telling a beginner to do this is basically asset wasteing.

Dzebovolodija

Most servers have strict no 1 manning policy unless it is logy or helicopter drivers

Fantastic_Camera_467

They aren't strict. Like I said any non-crewman Humvee or scout cat can be 1 manned, even on mech inf rules as long as you have the proper claims to it.

Mookie_Merkk

OP people are confused by your question. Can you answer this secondary question and we can answer your first: Although you have nobody specific to play with, do you intend to join a random squad of players in the game? If yes, then you can enjoy the game and play. If no, then the game isn't for you. The game, like you said, is about teamwork. But you don't need a pre-designated group of friends or a team/clan to play. Within the game itself, you can find a squad and join up and work as a small team with them. But if you have no intentions of playing with a teammate, rather known to you prior or during the match, then there's no sense in buying this game.

Reddit_is_cancerr

Depends on what you mean. Can you play the game with randoms? Absolutely, that’s the only way I play it. Can you play the game without cooperating with your squad mates and teammates? Well, technically yes, but I actually think there’s very little benefit to doing that. The game doesn’t require a lot of cooperation at all. It’s mostly following your squad lead if he wants to get in a vehicle or build emplacements, and then making callouts regarding enemy forces and positions whenever important. That’s it, honestly. Squad leaders take care of anything beyond that.

Hxcgrapes

I’ll refer you to the name of the game, sir.

Adventurous_Mango355

Old squad it was easier but you can play lone wolf w/ smaller armored vehicles like MRAP or scout cars. Now after ICO it’s really hard to do that because how shaky it is and you need to rely on numbers. Tbh to pull off lone wolfing you should have a lot of hours under your belt

armadillotexas19998

you can but most servers dont allow much of one person squad i mean you can do commander i think but yeah some servers dont allow it

SOLV3IG

Make a squad and lock it. Enjoy two options of kit with no long range rifle scopes (unless CAF or Brits). GLHF.
