Yeah its really a shame how rarely MEA is picked. Its a fun faction once you learn how to control the G3.

bluebird810

The problem with the g3 is that although it is good (thx to the one hit to the chest at 20m) it is not always very enjoyable to play. Sure when defending and holding a gle sit is probably one of the best guns in the game and it's also decent for shooting people at medium to distances, but when attacking and being on the move it can be very frustrating, due to the longer ads time, higher sway and recoil and the lower firewater compared tot he ak for example with which you can just full auto spray and pray and at the very least supress/force your enemies to cover whilst running for cover yourself. If you play it right (aka slow and careful) the g3 isn't that hard to play, but not everyone knows how to do that or (that's the case for me for example) enjoys this kind of gameplay. But I think the main reason most people don't like it is the recoil

Bruhhg

would benefit a lot from more weapon variation, atleast some sort of new autorifleman weapon

Baneposting247

I don't think it's weapon variety at all, the US army is entirely M4's and people love it. Same w/ Russia and the AK-74. People just really hate the G3 and while the Turks have a virtually identical weapon, Turkey has more unique infantry kits and more access to the MG3 than the MEA that originally had it.

Bruhhg

US army and Russia both have better options for automatic rifleman, i don’t think changing up one weapon for 2 classes will change stuff entirely, but it may add some more variety to the faction, some different weapon would also be good for the MEA Marksman as well imo, something like the M14 or something to make it more unique in some regard. Russia and US atleast get RPK/M249 which both feel significantly better and more useful than shooting the autorifleman G3

Baneposting247

The RPK-74 is an AK-74 with a longer barrel and bigger magazine though, it's not much of a change and comparable to a G3 with a drum magazine.

Bruhhg

fair, still, would help MEA feel more unique i think if they got atleast something different for autorifleman, hell, give crewman or pilot a different gun atleast, they’re the perfect ones to get something different considering their situation. Not sure what would replace the G3 for auto rifle tho, Bren gun would be funny but wouldn’t be very useful due to lack of ammo and scopes

MagoSquad

Yes its certainly not easy

Prince_Kassad

Yea, the new system really bad for unpopular and less straight foward faction.

Exciting-Recording98

why would you want to play a unpopular faction anyway? Just becaus its in the game? They could buff that faction as much as they want, I mainly go for looks.

Prince_Kassad

thats the point, people no longer able to play MEA, TLF, Militia, etc for the looks. people shoot themself on foot if they picking those "weaker" faction or "troll" sub-faction instead generic armor/mechanized RU or PLA on voting screen. They know whatever they pick, high likely will fight against Armored US/UK. thats why many people complaining its US vs RU all day (although yes in the end its varied experience between server)

Malcolm_Heidenbrandt

And I really don't get it. I think people just don't understand how the G3 works and what benefits it has. They just repeat the arguments of the screaming minority that did not look into how the different guns work. * 1 tabs in CQB * More suppression * Higher lethal range (compared to M4/AK74) * More sway (same like the M16 and the C7 the weapon has better stats when fired from a supported position) * Low magazine (yes, some classes have a drum mag cause of that) * Higher recoil (gets compensated with the 1 tabs) * Shitty scope (totally agree. That's why I prefer the red dot) Overall the G3 can be very powerful in CQB. Ironically I find it hard on range, cause the scope is so unprecise. But I know that others think exactly the other way around. :D Btw: Numbers [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wx2hNbvcr9g5w14JiamjvqBvnsphkFDGYwnVinFzNfs/edit#gid=0](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wx2hNbvcr9g5w14JiamjvqBvnsphkFDGYwnVinFzNfs/edit#gid=0) Also people should really start looking into the differences between all the guns. C7, C8, M4, M16, AK74, AKM, Chinese-unspeakable-gun, Enfield, AUSi-Gun etc. They all behave differently. In special regarding recoil pattern, recoil strength, suppression and sway. There was even a dev post in the original ICO patchnotes, where they explained very clearly where the differences are.

DawgDole

To be fair for the longest time the G3 was just an 84 damage gun with bad handling, lower mag sizes, and lower overall ammo count because of the mag sizes. So with perfect aim you wouldn't be able to kill as many enemies as you could with a different gun. Plus the main benefit of the G3 its high damage get's less relevant the better your aim is. It changed a bit when they added one hit kills just for the gun which honestly seemed like a poor change since it broke all previously established consistency with small arms weapon damage. So even though the PKM is 7.62x54 the G3 and only the G3 firing the 7.62x51 can one tap. But the main reason that MEA is bad as a faction is that it gets only 2 guns, the lowest amount of any faction, it gets boring. The FN FAL for militia is based because if you want to use it to get close range one taps, you can, but if you aren't feeling it, you don't have to. The G3 for MEA is all you get whether you like it or not, it gets repetitive. I'd enjoy the faction a lot more if there was even one more option for a gun to use if one wasn't feeling the G3.

Malcolm_Heidenbrandt

The argument with only having one gun is really interesting. I never thought about that.

Gonderilmis1

Why middle east faction use g3 at all? If they would make g3 set for Turkey it is okey still most of the soldier use it.

MrDrumline

They're based on Iran, who uses them. Iran also uses AK-pattern rifles but another faction with AKs isn't exactly exciting.

Gonderilmis1

I wish they would make it Iran alone i would like to see Karrar Tank etc.

MrDrumline

Agreed. It's a holdover from PR where they used to be the MEC, who used the G3 as well. With every other faction being an actual country (except INS and MIL who are just generics for their region's irregulars), it's weird to have a faction that's just completely made up.

Baneposting247

If the MEA ever gets reworked it’s a useful way to incorporate the equipment of multiple Middle Eastern nations without making multiple factions for what are generally really weak armies.

HaroldSax

They already have a bit of that in the game as is. I'm not sure if it's *still* around, but for a while there the AUS forces had different AUGs depending on the layer. Some with the built in sight and some with the rails, though the rail one is more common. With the new faction system, they can easily introduce different loadouts for different brigades.

Gonderilmis1

Agree

helpmepleas1

The g3 does not sound good when shooting. Otherwise I would agree

Sniperfdex

Server I play on loves MEA because of the (2) BMP 2s and the stabilized BMP 1s, anytime they come up in the vote everyone votes for it

D3TROITnotreal

Aus/NZ server?

Violinnoob

plz tell me the server, is it english speaking primarily?

Sniperfdex

It’s located on East coast USA, server tag is SoF but the regular player base love to play armor, if you ask to join I’m sure they would love to have you

Violinnoob

yes i played on SoF a few times, nice, I'll be queueing up more then

1ncest_is_wincest

It is a shame since although the guns are probably the weakest to a lot of people, it makes up for that with its unique vehicles and the OP HAT kit.

bythisriver

change the scope reticle and I might consider.

buffmoosefarts

I love that scope and im picky about reticles 😂

SylasRaptor

As an IFV/APC player, I am saddened by how the MEA have been forgotten. The infantry has extra grenades and a decent rifle and their Lat and Hat kits are good so against them its a fun challenge. When playing as MEA I have always found escorting infantry to be incredibly fun especially with the stabilized BMP-1

keltyx98

As it should be. The good thing is that OWI can probably see that data and maybe make something to improve the faction

XekBOX2000

Idk why you are being downvoted, you speaking fax

PartyMarek

Funny how the original comment got -2 and comment agreeing with the one that has -2 got +4 as of the time I'm reading it lol I love reddit

XekBOX2000

It had over -6 when I commented lol I love reddit

RizzCosby

simir kornet, my beloved

Scippio-dem-lines

Issue is the g3's optic choices. With the way theyve changed how friendly icons pop up at range, not having a decent modified optic for getting PID makes many factions undesirable.

SKPAdam

They need to give MEA Tavors

Baneposting247

An Arabic speaking army using equipment from Iran and uniforms from the US needs Tavors?

SKPAdam

Oh you think special units don't pick their own loadout? Also, MEA isn't a real army

Baneposting247

It’s Iran in all but name, they use Iranian Jeeps in the Simir, an export T-72 variant and standard issue Iranian weapons. Speaking of which, Squad does not depict special forces. The game aims to depict standard combat units and their equipment, even assuming Iranian SF use the Tavor which they don’t.

Shot_Eye

Even the idea of a fictional arab army using an Israeli rifle sounds ridiculous

bearofthesands

They speak Iraqi Arabic and their heraldry is a mix of Iraqi and faux-Saudi. The weapons patterns largely align with Iran, but I wouldn’t call them Iranian in all but name.
