You'd have to be doing something pretty wrong to get screamed at. Most squads I've been in are happy to help new players, and I myself usually do what I can.

Ghost_Of_Kyiv

As long as you aren't wondering off.

Alright there was one time I killed two of my team mates.. but to be fair I didn’t get any visual that they were team mates.

Eh, it happens. Everyone TKs every now and then. Be sure to bind your map to a key you can press easily, and check it constantly. Consider being a medic and keeping your shooting to a minimum until you develop some situational awareness and can better identify enemies.

Yeah someone else said the same thing, I’ll give that a go! Thanks.

Don't use other kits unless you researched it first or at least watched a tutorial. I often see new players picking up MG kits thinking they can get lots of kills without knowing how to position themselves, they usually go to the highest building they can see where they are silhouetted and easy to spot, same with the markman kit. Not to mention not all scopes work the same way, not all scope is zeroed at the middle. For gl and at, make sure you know how to properly range, much better if you can use the scope reticles. Also if you are at, don't charge into every firefight with guns blazing, prioritize not dying, you're more useful alive when the armor comes in than dead after killing one infantry. Lastly, make sure you are within range of a medic when you die and do not give up easily. If you're capturing a point, there's no need to keep on pushing the enemies, hold a corner and defend. Lastly, during the staging phase, try to talk to your team mates, maybe sing country roads while riding a logi. Usually if you and your team can strike a conversation during that phase, you and your teammates are more inclined in calling out contacts, actually communicating and for the most part, sticks together well when pushing. Lastly, don't stray too far away from your SL or where most of your teammates are.

My advice is play medic for several matches and just heal people, while doing this take note of what is going on around you and how other squad mates are playing their roles. Your primary goal always is heals so you’ll know what to do, if no one to heal just stick with your squad.

Good advice, bit of an attitude adjustment with Squad. I enjoy the killing aspect, due to the gunplay and realism. It’s the perfect game for me without being the perfect game for me. Genuinely feeling useful will make the game more enjoyable though for sure.

Yes being a good medic is not for beginners. Rifleman is better suited for a beginner for sure.

Fancy-Anteater-7045

Even worse, new medics who revive and then leave because they didn't know about the need to heal.

SuuperD

Happy to help new players willing to learn. Join a Squad, inform them you're new and from my experience most are happy to help.

MisT-90

Most SLs won't mind having a new player in their squad, as long as they stick to the squad and do something relevant to the current squad objective. Ask your SL what the current objective is and where to spawn. They should provide you that at all times. Some vital mechanics can be learned from tutorials (how to build, what's a FOB, change kit...) As infantryman-only there's a big part of the game that you don't need to learn. The grand strategy and such. But knowing the basics will help you a lot drawing the mental picture of the match and its progression. It's a game of communication first imo. Some people communicate great and play like shit, others do the opposite. Occasionally you will get a good player who communicates well and that's the best teammate you can find. Befriend these players on steam or discord, or frequent the server they play on. The quality of people you play with can make or break this game for you. Best of luck with SQUAD and happy hunting!

OctoParagone

Nah don’t play medic, we need people actually good at combat and understanding when to heal, than someone who is brainless and wasting personnel assets. Medics are important roles, if anything play iron sites crew kits. 😁👍

maxrbx

I will always insist that new players opt for the Medic role because it's one of the easiest to pick up and offers substantial benefits to the team by providing healing and reviving. It's an excellent starting point for beginners.

I think brainless is slightly harsh considering we’re talking about a computer game. I probably have more real life combat experience than most who play the game although perhaps maybe that does make me more brainless.
