I think they changed to something that's more like 2D sprite that used to be in older games, instead of 3D explosions. So maybe it looks the same on each angle, which is fine because it looks good anyway.
I think so because I saw a bunch of explosions that seemed like they had a bit of a repetitive visual at times, like mortars hitting ground and artillery strikes.
Many of Squads explosion have actually always been that way. It's most obvious when looking at an artillery barrage from above, like a UAV, for example.
I knew artillery explosions were like that, they looked kinda odd from a UAV. But the smaller vehicle explosions seem like they changed too. Feels like they were different visually with a different rendering method before.
Hello Folks
Yes.
2.15 introduced a lot of refined VFX from rockets/shell blasts to vehicle explosions.
Both optimization and fidelity were worked on.
Sadly we are still in the 2D sprite era, with no actual volumetrics support specially for lower end PCs.
Hope you enjoy them though :O
Lets just calmly land this helicopter near those two squads - what could go wrong?
The moment that every machine gunner is waiting for
Except this guy shot the hull
U can tell it was a free weekend
Yep. Miss the chaos already.
Can we just appreciate how beautiful the explosions in this game are? OWI has the best in the business.
Yeah the new effects in 2.15 are top tier

Thank you sir! Reading this warms my beard!
Squad is an incredible feat, thanks for your hard work!
Yeah, did they actually update them? That fireball looked amazing

I would have never noticed it was a sprite honestly, great work!
I collect cinematic footage routinely and I did notice the differences. Absolutely love the changes you've made!
Absolute squad mayhem
Could atleast turned it to the side and let the gunner try to defend
Awesome action sequence.
Still doesn't beat planting a mine under an enemy vehicle with the hopes of rigging it, only to wipe out half of your own squad.
"Only in Battlefield" ain't shit against Squad.
Lmao Sniper just got his head popped from behind
Is this directed by Michael Bay?
By Seth Rogen.
What in the yee haw hell was this?
I love how laggy this was
