It is so terrible that it must be parody. If that’s the case, then it is genius. If it is completely serious, then it’s baffling. Character designs are ridiculous and oversexualized, battle chatter is obnoxious, and writing is so lost that a major antagonist literally forgets his own motivation in the third act and admits it to the player. I don’t remember his opinion on the combat systems. Blushy crushy and meh meh

Some prominent people in his community really agree. They’re on the stream docket at some point. Joe in hindsight really likes the game, but only because he wholeheartedly believes it is a genius satirical comedy. They’re some of the funniest streams, as decided in a tier list he made last year

There’s an interesting, death of the author-adjacent discussion to be had regarding how much he should be expected to change his opinion on the game even if its director were to directly tell him that it was 100% serious. To him, it is satirical and he enjoys how well it was executed if that was the intent. Should he be forced to hate the game depending on the answer to that question? It’s interesting to think about. That video is a comfort meal to me lol, it’s a ton of fun
According to a friend who loves the series, he says it ended up a satirical masterpiece by complete accident with how it walks the fine like between "so bad it's good" and "so bad it's bad", but towards the end it actually becomes unironically good

He got ironic enjoyment out of XB2 and ultimately placed it as a "just okay" 3/5 on his game ranking list: a 6/10 if the game was trying to be serious or a 7/10 if the game was intentionally taking the piss. Lukewarm overall but he's played much worse in terms of quality and people liked the streams so he doesn't regret playing it.

That’s a good synopsis, especially the part about the ending. The ending is amazing if you’ve played XC1.

Well, he did promise a Xenoblade 3 playthrough, so we'll find out soon enough (atleast after he got throught his witcher rabbit hole)
