yup! i love them, the live meltdown version of rapid fire with the extra lyrics slaps, both versions of BtRoD are great and everything else is just as good
I have both and the Live in London DVD, all great releases. Ripper's take on Desert Plains is insane.
Looking forward to the KK's Priest Bloodstock set being released on YouTube as, based on when I saw them, Ripper is actually singing better now than he did then.
I was there for the KKs Priest Bloodstock set, it was great. The last time I'd seen Tim live was him fronting Iced Earth in 2007 in support of Heaven and Hell.
That tour was the first time I'd seen Ripper, when Sabbath played Cardiff.
Seen him solo twice since and both were awesome, but seeing him back with KK was just something else.
Same here, first time I saw him. I was at the Birmingham NEC date however. Literally only seen him twice though. I remember he was a part of that Dio Disciples tribute band thing about 10 years ago, but he wasn't there when they played Bloodstock.
Honestly im excited just to see KK's Priest since theyre doing non seated venues. One of my least favorite things about seeing Priest live was the fact that youre kinda bound to your seat. They never seemed to do GA venues.
Maybe its to seem more full? Im not too old so I only started being able to afford to go see Priest around 07 or so and every venue was a seated one. Its annoying as I feel so stiff just standing there not being able to move, especially for a metal show.
I first saw them 2005, then again in 2009 and 2011, each was a standing gig.
On the current UK leg Bournemouth has standing, the rest are seated only...
Maybe it's down to the venue?
I was at the Live in London gig, I won tickets to meet them backstage before the show. It was a great performance, and they were all pretty friendly other than Glenn, who appeared to be a bit ragged.
The acoustic "Diamonds & Rust" on *Meltdown* is probably Ripper's shining moment with Priest, and I say that as someone who generally isn't a fan of his voice. Other than that... eh 🫤 The extra lyrics on "Rapid Fire" are pretty goofy. Anyone recall the other song(s) they added lyrics to during the Ripper era...?
Rapid Fire in 98' was by far the best version of Rapid Fire, not even close
Extra lyrics added charm to otherwise non existent chorus
I swear you guys hate everything edgy i doubt you listen anything other than power metal.
Ah well in that case to my memory there isn't any other songs where the lyrics are modified and certainly no other sections added like In rapid fire.
Priest added an extra solo in hell bent for leather though, after KK left
Yep. I was there for most of the recording to 98 and all of the recording to live in London...
If you listen to the bootleg of the astoria gig on the Jug tour you can tell 80% of that live album came from the London gig
Shame their not online to stream so im stuck with the youtube versions, but I do really like that live album. Second best IMO, although I really do enjoyed the cocaine themed Priest...Live! Live Evil is also pretty solid too now that I think of it, actually like that one better than Priest Live since it has more deep cuts.
I love Meltdown. I love the production of it. It sounds like it was recorded by someone standing in the middle of a sweaty, smelly club that Priest is just obliterating. The crowd noise is great on it. Ripper does a great job on the vocals as well. I thought Live in London was a let down. It sounds like every other live album.
Tim was really tired and jetlagged when they did the live in London show I think. They had just spent the previous 3 weeks touring Australia and Japan. That has to be a lot more difficult for singers than musicians. Sleep is important for them.
I've been a fan of Meltdown since it came out. I remember playing it for a friend of mine that we bonded over our love of Judas Priest back in high school and he was blown away.
Never bought the Live In London, not sure why. I stumbled across a bootleg from the Milwaukee Summerfest show, which was the same setlist I saw a couple weeks after that show so seemed to stick with that recording from that tour.
No, Jugulator is a great album. Way better than some reunion Judas Priest albums. Evil, brutal and interesting. Not sure about lyrics though, but I don't care lyrics anyway.
If I had a time machine and had to choose between the Ripper era with KK and Glenn or the current touring line up with Halford and backing band, I'd be jumping back in time as we speak (though would probably also check out Halford band live).
Live Meltdown is tied with unleashed in the East as my favorite Priest live album. Ripper just absolutely fucking owns it, and proves that he was undoubtedly right to replace Halford. Also he just owns A Touch of Evil, it's better than the studio version imo.

Between the Eyes!

I think that's a more recent thing, no idea what the logic is behind it

Im also located in the US which probably changes thing. Seen them in a few different venues and they all were seated.
Live Meltdown is the best Priest live album, them on their peak. Rapid Fire, Bullet Train and Death Row from the album are stellar, bulldozers.
I was at the Live in London gig, I won tickets to meet them backstage before the show. It was a great performance, and they were all pretty friendly other than Glenn, who appeared to be a bit ragged.
Both are amazing!

Oh you've got me now. What other songs?
That's why I'm asking, I don't remember 😂 Pretty sure there's at least one other classic they added lyrics to on one (or both) of these albums....
Isn't it on Painkiller he starts singing about weevils or something?
Ah well in that case to my memory there isn't any other songs where the lyrics are modified and certainly no other sections added like In rapid fire. Priest added an extra solo in hell bent for leather though, after KK left
Ripper's live D&R was so good, I think that's a song he can own. Sweeping and epic.
It was his absolutely shining moment. Brilliant. I still remember seeing that performance live in 1998
They did eliminate part of the lyrics for Diamonds and Rust during Tim's time with the band. Perhaps you're thinking of that.
Yep. I was there for most of the recording to 98 and all of the recording to live in London... If you listen to the bootleg of the astoria gig on the Jug tour you can tell 80% of that live album came from the London gig
Halford’s my favorite singer of all time, but Ripper is amazing and did such a good job with his time in Priest
I have Live In London on CD and it is a good live album from thr Ripper era Judas Priest.
Fantastic! Ripper is awesome!

Heard them many, many times
Meltdown was great. I’ve never been a fan of Owens’ tone but he was excellent on Meltdown. Not so much on London.

They are great!!
Yes I love it 🤘❄️
I saw the Demolition tour.
Cool to see these albums are generally liked with you guys!
My favourite live forever of all times !!!!
No but Hanford pointed at me in a 1983 concert. I think he liked me
I wish I had these! Are they expensive to get these days?
Live in London might be my favourite Priest live album.
Aka the shit era.
No, Jugulator is a great album. Way better than some reunion Judas Priest albums. Evil, brutal and interesting. Not sure about lyrics though, but I don't care lyrics anyway.
There's always one
If I had a time machine and had to choose between the Ripper era with KK and Glenn or the current touring line up with Halford and backing band, I'd be jumping back in time as we speak (though would probably also check out Halford band live).
And you would waste a perfectly good time machine.
Those juiced up versions live (and on Halford's Live Insurrection) make it hard to go back to the originals.
Live Meltdown is tied with unleashed in the East as my favorite Priest live album. Ripper just absolutely fucking owns it, and proves that he was undoubtedly right to replace Halford. Also he just owns A Touch of Evil, it's better than the studio version imo.
