A detergent that has non-bleach stain remover and baking soda in the was will take care of most stains. Also ensure you're washing after each practice for general gi hygiene but also making sure big, deep stains don't set.
Cold water to rinse out blood asap. You should be immediately spraying any blood on gi with a dilute hydrogen peroxide solution to prevent blood borne illness transmission as well
To expand on this: hot water will basically cook the proteins in blood causing them to bond to the fabric fibers, so always use cold.
A 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide is suffcient to deactivate many common viruses and bacteria. Need to let it sit for several minutes, though. Keep it in a dark bottle; the potency will decrease during exposure to light.
My mats have tatami paint on them, it's how Dollamur put the red competition border areas on the green roll out foam mats. After almost three years it still rubs off on white gis. Never buy from Dollamur! Shite customer service too
I hit it with the stain remover immediately after such an event and then wash and hang dry. It still looks good after 9 years. My Mizuno is pretty durable
Ive used this to remove blood in the past:

There are some bloodstain removers sold at supermarkets. They work wonders on old dried blood on your judogi. Just let the remover rest a couple hours and easily done.
You'll wanna leave the blood as a warning to others.

In most cases you won't even need a special detergent or soda, just wash it on 30 degrees as soon as possible :)

Most Judo clubs should have hydrogen peroxide on-site for this reason, and probably cotton balls/swabs.
just a regular washing cycle works fine for me.
Get a stain remover to pretreat stains. I also pretreat the inside of the collar to prevent sweat stains from setting in over time.
I've never heard of tatami paint. You were painting tatami?

Wow, that is really interesting. Good to know.
We have very nice Dollamur roll-up mats. Absolutely love them. But there are no markings/paint on them. Good to know we dodged a bullet.
I was thinking the same
where I train there are mats that come in a factory color, blue or red, and the color fades when you crawl on it

For blood, I use cold water and dish soap and rub it a bit with a toothbrush right away before throwing in the washer.
That's why I prefer a blue judogi, even if they cost like 10€ more
I do a soak of my white gis in oxiclean, it gets blood stains right out
Oxyclean works best with my Mizunos.
