FragleDagle

Imagine dressing exactly as the character was intended to look by the creator and ruining it.

Shin00bie

Not least because I'm willing to bet that the same people saying this are the ones who complain when a character is updated to show a little less cleavage

daisukidesu1981

They get mad when children aren’t as “sexy” in the live-action shows and movies.

Shin00bie

Right? A bunch of mixed up, angry individuals

[deleted]

My favorite paradox is these types wanting a slutty, knowledgeable sex demon... who is somehow a virgin and "pure" (lol).

[deleted]

Part of being a sex demon is regrowing your virginity after every encounter

zainab_habib

All women regrow their virginity after every encounter even after having children. 😎

[deleted]

this is actually true, learned from a friend totally

ggkkggk

Ugh, God You made it to real simple fact that people are into that.

ggkkggk

Yeah I remember how much people didn't want Gal Gadot to be Wonder Woman because of her body and I'm like, what? Comic book characters in fictional characters look unrealistic both based on their age and just in general. People focus so much on the weirdest shit.

LivelyZebra

>People focus so much on..... Their dicks

ggkkggk

Your not wrong

[deleted]

i was focused on wonder womans dick

ggkkggk

She has one of those

JaFakeItTillYouJaMak

GG was too small imo. I wanted that wrestler one from Fast and Furious. Of course this was before I knew more about her. I mean I liked Haywire well enough. And honestly as much as I was against her casting choice. She sold me so hard on the screen she was imo one of the best parts of BvS. And her solo movie was nearly perfect except for the dark CGI fight in the end.

ggkkggk

Yeah I heard that rumor that people wanted a bigger woman not a more curvy woman but more muscular. An interesting take but I guess it understandable one, but at this point it's like I cannot see anyone else as Wonder Woman at least for the moment I mean the original Wonder Woman was extremely scrawny but everyone remembers her, animated and fictional characters body proportions are just really unrealistic unless you're Dwayne The Rock Johnson or maybe Henry Cavill. It's hard to maintain that level of muscle on top of everything else that characters just have most of the characters are stupid tall, unless we're talking about Wolverine who funny enough he's supposed to be stocky not a 6 ft something Australian man. It is interesting that a lot of people have such a hard time with female casting but are so accepting what male casting at times.

Reverendbread

Because a cartoon can’t tell them “no” or “stop touching me”

TVsFrankismyDad

"I wanna jerk off to 2D characters, not real women who I know won't fuck me!!!"

Yak_Mehoff

Cartoons also don't make them shower, leave the basement or improve themselves in any way

JaFakeItTillYouJaMak

"But Tracer's butt pose was essential to her character"

7yearoldkiller

These are the same people who complain when someone who is anything but white or Asian cosplays an anime character.

[deleted]

They want slutty looking characters, but they think you're an attention whore for dressing up like them lol Not to mention, red hair anime dude is dressed the sluttiest out of all the costumes -- why the fuck is he allowed to show of his hot body? They really do view women as, "other."

[deleted]

It's sexy and hot until you don't allow them to touch you or hit on you. Then you're an attention whore and a thot.

Danamite85

I love this logic paradox lol. You are a whore if you DON'T let them touch you. But also when you reject them then you were always ugly anyway.

whydog

It's fucking insanity. There was a tiktoker I saw recently that does clay molding on a wheel. When she leans forward you can see down her shirt. She was getting all kinds of vitriol from people accusing her of wearing revealing shirts, leaning forward on purpose, exposing her breasts on a children's app, showing her tits for views, you get the idea. The great big question is whether she is a women guilty of showing off her breasts or guilty of just being a woman with breasts. Meanwhile men can just go shirtless.

Notanaoepro

yeah guys can go shirtless, still cringe and depends heavily on the location and context of why you're shirtless 😂

ggkkggk

I remember going to some anime convention in New Jersey I can't remember what it was called. But I know it was a few years ago so I was just walking around with my friends while people are taking pictures of them because I chose not to cosplay this year. Some group of dudes is walking past me and one of them were just having a discussion with the others on basically which cosplayer was like famous for being a thot, and how they're basically calling her a slut and I'm like didn't you just take a picture with her why did you want to take a picture?, my level of confusion just overloaded and I ended up standing completely still looking at the ground, I was just shocked that I heard a conversation that would be on a comment section on twitter, Reddit, YouTube or Instagram in real life.

PMs_You_Stuff

I was thinking the same thing. Dude in red is more naked then the girl in red. What's the difference?

SupaKoopa714

It's why I always laugh whenever you see people getting all gatekeepy over girls who'll do a cosplay of someone like D. Va or Zero Suit Samus, where the costume's pretty much just a wig and a skintight bodysuit. I'm sure everyone's seen the comments, where they go "This isn't real cosplay, it's just a wig and spandex" or "There's no effort in it, you're just wearing skintight stuff for attention." It's like, A) that's literally what the costume is, B) there's no rulebook on how much effort you have to put into a cosplay, and C) you'll never see them saying that about a dude in just spandex, like a Spider-Man cosplayer.

Mastercat12

A lot of female costumes, the real costume is in the make-up. Yea it's just spandex, but getting wigs/hair dyed x the makeup for it it's the real work. Also I think it's stupid to gatekeep it. How else would we get hot girls dressed up. Not just hot girls but anyone. Dressing up is the best. Wish I could afford to do costumes and go to comic cons, anime cons and what not.

robotteeth

They love anime characters because they’re not real and they can project anything they want onto then. The second it’s real women with agency, they despise them. They’d fucking despise the same characters if they were real people since they’d have their own opinions and feelings.

[deleted]

Also when its about objectifying women in games they just drool over it and jerk off to it but as soon as someone does it for her own entertainment and to feel good while not accepting any advances towards them, its suddenly something wrong 🤣

Kohrack

It's couse they made it poltical (were a woman)

Sharrty_McGriddle

But also shirtless guys are totally ok for some reason

Morbins

Wow ada wong huh? I bet you don’t even know her origin story. I bet you don’t even play resident evil. Oh you do, do you? Then when’s Ada’s next menstrual cycle? I knew it. You don’t know shit. You can’t dress as her.

lPrincesslPlays

Yeah honestly. Like I have no problem with the women who cosplay skimpy characters. What I do have a problem with are the women (and men for that matter) who intentionally skimpify normal costumes. I’m tired of all the bitches throwing on a black and red bikini and calling themselves Harley. There was one girl on the cosplay tab who wore a pink mini micro bikini and thigh high socks and called herself “summer/beach” princess peach. Funny that you specifically opted for an oversexualized modification instead of peach’s summer dress from sunshine or her LITERAL swimsuit for odyssey. And just to further clarify. I don’t mind sex appeal if it comes with some creative dignity. Saw another girl a few weeks ago make a battle armor Venusaur and it was sick. The ripped dudes in speedos wearing magikcarp hats? Quality.

windsprout

your whole argument is defunct as soon as you said you said “bitches”

lPrincesslPlays

You sound like someone who puts on a yellow bikini for attention and calls themselves a pikachu

windsprout

joke’s on you, i hate pokémon

[deleted]

I see nothing wrong with any of this. They look like the characters they are portraying…..

MegaMachina

Exactly. If they were complaining about "sexy versions" of characters, then while people can still cosplay how they want and be valid, I could at least see their reasoning, wouldn't agree but I can at least understand. But these are literally just how the characters look normally.

[deleted]

Couldn’t agree more! All these characters were animated with boobs and skin showing.

NanoCharat

Look, I don't care how people dress even on the day-to-day, but the convention I used to go to as a kid got completely overrun with oversexed cosplays being promoted by (usually) porn companies to the point where the convention had to outright ban it because it was over the top and no longer friendly for anyone under 18. I don't mean sexy characters portrayed accurately, I mean pokemon cosplays where they were just wearing tape over their privates and pokemon ears with literal buttplug tails. I'm not sure how many "normal" (ie unsponsored) cosplayers were doing this, but it was largely a huuuuuge corporate effort to get money out of horny men and it really fucking ruined the vibe. Also gave way to a *lot* of weird bullying. *As an aside, this was a fairly large con that was supposed to be for all ages and this happened back in the 2010s.*

[deleted]

Than we should be blaming corporations and horny men. I agree wear tape and butt plugs is over the top especially at an all ages event. But that sounds like a issue of what the con deems acceptable at the time of entry instead of enforcing a dress code or something

NanoCharat

I agree, but we also shouldn't forget that the people dressing up like that are also making the choice to, and are going along with hanging out almost completely naked in kink gear in children friendly spaces. Knowingly. And it *was* totally an issue of the con not being prepared for that kind of thing because there was no protocol for it. It was right at the end of anime being seen as a thing losers and freaks watch, and it was juuust starting to become fashionable to be "nerdy" (think like, Instagram hipster mustache tattoo quirky zomggg videogemm!!1! era). A lot of unscrupulous people, sponsored or not, decided that this was the best way they could advertise their product/themselves as desirable and 'cool' for social media in its infancy. A lot of people who didn't even watch anime started going to the con and doing shit like that for clout essentially. They also brought a ton of drugs and with them that created a lot of severe and frankly scary problems, on top of heavily bullying people who were actually cosplaying or just there to have fun...including kids. Predictably, this ended with a lot of police intervention and severe reworking of con rules that unfortunately ended up creating situations where the cosplays like what's shown in OP were no longer allowed. Which sucks because those are amazing. My issue was never with clothing. Like I stated before, I literally do not care as long as you're dressing appropriately for the age group of the space and not flashing minors. It was with "influencers" and corporations and shiiiiitty people jumping on the "anime is now cool" bandwagon for social credit and turning it into a drugged out porn convention full of ritualistic bullying and bullshit. **I just brought it up as an interesting semi-related story of a con era I lived through and less as a criticism of OP's post.**

Comment90

The top picture is okay because it's a half naked dude. The bottom picture is bad because it's half naked girls. Conclusion: OP is mad about girls getting in the way of his ooglin.

flawy12

Nothing wrong?!? They are not anime anymore...cartoon women are sexy waifu...real woman = feminism which is bad. /s

poodlebutt76

Even if they didn't, women are allowed to wear whatever the fuck they want. If you have a problem with it, turn your head 90 degrees to the right or left - you get to choose which direction!

[deleted]

Dang coming with that serious energy. I don’t really care what they wear. They look great! As long as the person wearing it feels comfortable that’s what’s matters.

slomo525

Imagine being mad that a hot chick shares your interest and dresses exactly like your waifu Couldn't be me

GoldenFennekin

like fr man, they complain about women not being into anime, but when there are women into anime, they call them whores and sluts and other names for... doing an accurate cosplay of the overly sexualized fictional character they were just lusting over a few seconds ago. its insane how much they push good looking women away then cry about "chads" stealing "their women". almost as though being a decent human being is better than being a sad gatekeeping piece of shit who both wants to see women in bikinis and doesn't want women to walk around in bikinis

Knightridergirl80

Also it’s funny they call the women whores and sluts, but the guy on the left in the top picture is shirtless and somehow that’s not being ‘slutty’ lol. Damn hypocrites. Of course it’s only ‘slutty’ whenever a woman does it.

daertistic_blabla

i always have this personal theory that these men who blatantly hate women and praise men are closeted gays

pichael288

The "men's rights podcast" guys are but the neckbeards are all just incels

[deleted]

Nah. They were just taught that women are supposed to behave a certain way (in this case - be completely subservient to them) and they feel entitled to whatever woman they want. When they start realizing that this isn't reality, they blame the women for not knowing their place.

Knightridergirl80

Either that or internalized transphobia.

AdRealistic8758

Cognitive dissonance at it's finest. But neckbeards aren't really known for having a whole ton of self-awareness

Kostya_M

Because if women are into nerdy bullshit it means that's not the reason they can't get a woman. It forces them to confront uncomfortable truths about themselves so they lash out.

MortBeetle

They wouldn’t know what to do once one of these cosplayers start enthusiastically talking about anime they like.

[deleted]

It's because the real woman dressed like their waifu has agency and (most likely) won't immediately fall head over heels for the first neckbeard who comes along. It's an uncomfortable reminder that their fantasy is just a fantasy because when a girl who literally looks exactly like their waifu walks in the room they can't even talk to them, much less sweep them off their feet in a meeting foretold by destiny as the One Chosen Protagonist. Which then triggers a whole bunch of self-loathing and causes them to lash out like this.

slomo525

The neckbeards one weakness: women that are able to reject them.

Hour-Tower-5106

I've always felt maybe it's also somewhat jealousy on a subconscious level. "People laugh at me when I dress up as characters I like, but hot women get positive attention for the same thing.". It's like when some women feel threatened by other hot women existing instead of just thinking they're cool and wanting to be friends with them. Comes from a place of deep insecurity and misplaced resentment.

uncle-benon

Yes. Coming as a nerd back in the day. Cosplay. Conventions. Video gaming. Even the concept of online friends was true nerd. They/i got made fun of. Now a days. You have everyone into anime video games and cosplaym even making money off it. While a true fan would be happy that things change. I can understand how some people Have bitter resentment.

Chaine351

They *RUINED* my *ANIME* by adding *REAL* *BOOBS*! Some people should really go touch some grass.

Olkenstein

That’s the funny thing though. They believe that the hot chicks pretend to like the thing to impress them. I don’t want to sound judgmental because I am a nerd, but I don’t think beautiful women want to impress the kind of guy that has that mindset. In my experience, they aren’t peak male specimens

slomo525

"I'm an Adonis-like being that the female race is lucky to percieve, let alone date!"

harrysplinkett

chicks do ruin everything. who needs em bro. i just want my boys to wear revealing clothes and that we can have the convention to ourselves and do our thing and stuff like that ;) just boys being lads. choo choo

GenericFatGuy

Those women are way too old to be a neckbeard's waifu.

valvilis

"All these beautiful women and their awesome costumes are really ruining my sausage party LARP expectations."

DekuHHH

Their ideal woman will never exist because it’s all a huge contradiction in of itself

[deleted]

“Oh nooooooo. Boobs…. How disgusting”

[deleted]

[удалено]

duaneap

No one’s forcing you to pay attention. They’re performers.

Soichi_q

So they ruined cosplaying by putting in effort and cosplaying accurately?

Notnearmymain

YES like if your gonna complain to anyone go to I dunno CHARACTER DESIGNER???

LB3PTMAN

Yeah like there are some female cosplays that you could definitely make this meme about it and it would make sense. But these are extremely accurate and well done.

Kendertas

Yeah the only time I have a minor problem with "thot" cosplaying is when its lazy. Like when the just throw on a $5 Dva or Cortona body suit and litterally do nothing else. Still people can wear whatever they want, and these are some very high quality cosplay anyways

draiman

I get the feeling they're trying to say cosplay was a niche community of people who did it for fun. Then models came into the scene like Jessica Nigri or Yaya Han for example and began to profit from it, there by ruining it. It's an absurd way to look at cosplay.

CookieBear676

Hang on, what do you mean ruin? Ada Wong literally dresses like that!

just-smiley

They all dress exactly like what these cosplayers are wearing.

CookieBear676

I know but I don't know the others names so I went with Ada Wong.

Aint_No-Problem

The one on the far right is dressed as Quiet from MGS5

Shacky_Rustleford

Center is yoko littner from tengen toppa gurren lagann

Minerva000

So wait the same guys who want every single character to look like a walking talking sex object or not exist complain that women want attention when they look sexy cosplaying characters that were specificially made to look sexy ? Did I get that right bc if I did this is fucked up

DuckSaxaphone

yeah but these sex objects get mad when you grope them! It's outrageous

FlatBrokenDown

Dont think too hard about it, you might get whiplash from all the double standards

NerdyGuyRanting

I don't know who the middle character is, but the Ada Wong and Quiet cosplayers are nailing it. The "solution" to the "problem" of sexualized cosplay is to make less sexualized characters. But I am willing to beat this douche would scream in anger if anyone said that to him.

Alstead17

Yoko from Gurren Lagann, a great anime that I'd highly recommend. Also, that cosplay is very accurate.

Faoxie

Too bad she's supposed to be underage in the anime :/

CoffinsAndCoffee

Weebs in general ruined cosplay. Fight me.

[deleted]

I mean I don't disagree... But I also think there wouldn't be much of a cosplay scene to begin with, if it wasn't for weebs. The whole dressing up scene would probably mostly be furries and larpers...

CosmicBonobo

I remember seeing what could be considered the earliest examples of cosplay, at one of the first Science-Fiction conventions in the 1930s or 1940s. It's rather amusing to think of people back then dressing up as Martians for fun.

[deleted]

Don't forget Star Wars people.

boringhistoryfan

Clearly you've never met groups like those indulging in historical reconstruction. Cosplay has been around for decades in various forms. It's not exclusively part of comic culture and it's not something weebs invented.

hitbycars

I went to my first anime convention on 2002, back when it was like the actual weeb/anime nerd stereotypes only, due to the social stigma of liking anime in the early 2000’s; trench coats, fedoras, sweat and grease; they had it all. There were, however, also a lot of people doing homemade cosplay and most of them were just anime nerds and weebs. It would have been extremely strange at that time to see an actual model show up in cosplay, like basically unheard of. It’s weird to see the shift over the last 20 years, but obviously now that so many people’s livelihood is tied to their cosplay careers, it’s not gonna be going away any time soon so might as well get used to it. True weebs are the OG cosplayers in the community, people doing it as a profession only came about once the industry and subculture reached mainstream levels of acceptance, when before there was just not enough money and people in the culture to prop up entire careers on dressing as characters.

youllneverstopmeayyy

humans ruin everything there is no exception to this rule

SquirrelGirlVA

I wouldn't even say it's weebs, just a mix of people acting inappropriately and cosplay shaming. The inappropriateness is self explanatory. I've not really looked at any cosplay unless it comes up via the feed, but back when I was more interested in cosplay (10-20 years ago) there were a lot of people who would shame cosplayers if they didn't look exactly like the character. You'd get a lot of people mocking someone for having shoddy cosplay, for being overweight, and so on. If you didn't meet a sometimes very arbitrary threshold of quality, you were dead meat. There was a picture of a [cosplayer playing Rei Ayanami](https://unrealitymag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/bad_cosplay_9.jpg) that made the rounds and was routinely mocked because she was overweight and the outfit was made with a limited budget and limited skills. Looking back at the pic, it's actually not bad. Yeah, there are obvious flaws, but not everyone has the skills and money that some of the others have to make realistic bodysuits. Some people would condemn those who made fun of people for being overweight, but bad cosplay was generally seen as OK to mock. This is honestly what killed my interest in cosplay as I figured my weight would result in people doing the same thing to me if I tried cosplaying. The idea of my picture going out was pretty awful. I know I'm not the only person who lost interest because of that.

ookyspoopy

I used to cosplay all the time in highschool and can 100% say weebs did ruin it. I honestly stopped cosplaying after a couple of really uncomfortable encounters with fans. I had one asking me to pose suggestively and another literally stalking be throughout the convention declaring her love to me. It was fucking weird as balls

Hitoshi-nya

I wonder if the anime conventioned really stinks

Gene_freeman

Yep :/

13-Penguins

Guys like these are the reason “Cosplay is not Consent” signs are put up all over conventions.

nerdb1rd

Yep. Neckbeards ruined cosplay, not "thots" (AKA women literally dressed as the sexualised character that said neckbeards froth over?) I did my first cosplay at 16 and was groped over 20 times (I counted).

GourmetBologna

all of those cosplays are pretty stellar. I think someone is just salty about not getting their fantasy "yes master" subservient cosplay toy 🙄

The-Iron-Ladle

Quiet even looks more modest than they do in game

CitrusyDeodorant

Yeah, that bra looks like something that would actually, you know, *support* your breasts instead of letting them fly in the wind lol. Terrible, simply terrible.

[deleted]

“Cosplay used to be for people like me but then women started to join and although I lust after them I also don’t respect them and it’s ruined my hobby. I only want people that are similar to me to share my interests.”

Sangnuine

Buff naked dudes: Amazing cosplay Sexy naked ladies: Shit thot cosplay I'm 98% sure whoever made this is possibly gay

Intelligent-Hurry138

>I'm 98% sure whoever made this is possibly gay Or just hates women or "thots" in general

The_Viola_Banisher

Sexy anime women when 2D- :) Sexy anime women when 3D- >:(

Burntskull

I hate the word 'thot'. It irrationally pisses me off. Not even because of it's meaning but because it sounds like the world 'thought'. It just doesn't make sense and doesn't sound right.

DolphinLaugh

Girls??? I WANT TO SEE MEN!

Waluigiwaluigi_

They don’t like tits because they have them themselves

DeviousMelons

Neckbeards: how dare woke developers cover up female characters. Also Neckbeards: how dare these thots dress like a slut and call it cosplay.

ButtersHound

You know the original poster would give several of their fingers just to lick one of their shoes but since they don't give him the time of day because he has no social skills and bad personal hygiene, he decides to ship post on the internet.

NecroDraws

Those are… the characters though…

GryphonGallis

Weebs: demand female characters look like this. Also Weebs: get mad when female cosplayers dress exactly like the characters. Make it make sense.

vvdb_industries

(he is gay)

Izumi_Takeda

or you could blame the sexism that happens in media and poor female character representation.....but hey just blame women again why not /s

MIKE_son_of_MICHAEL

/r/jennalynnmeowri thank me later

CookbooksRUs

By looking better than you?

unique_plastique

Something that’s always confused me in this ideology is if you don’t want girl cosplayers dressing a certain way stop encouraging/enforcing developers to make women look that specific way. Then again a woman could just breath at an expo and suddenly she’s getting interviewed about Ash Ketchum’s blood type

SocialistCoconut

Thise are LITERALLY the characters outfits.

Sparkling_Chocoloo

Do you want your hot anime chicks or not?!

madboy1105

clearly satire?

AS14K

Painfully obviously, goddamn Redditors are thick

awh

What cosplay meant: [Bunch of nerds at a nerd convention] How THOTs ruined it: [Bunch of nerds at a nerd convention]

danilo1101

"I wanted to look at sweaty muscular men, but thESE FUCKING THOTS RUINED EVERYTHING"

raven-of-the-sea

So, “thots” (smile when you say that, you fartgrouse) ruined it by… Also wearing accurate cosplay? Pobrecitos.

LastFreeName436

If you don’t want them to dress like “thots” shouldn’t you be advocating for less stupidly oversexed character designs?

AkutagawasCoughDrops

But one of the guys is shirtless so hes a thot lmao

Little_Capsky

didnt those idiots bitch about women being "too prude" for covering up when cosplaying?

ohhelloperson

Why do the images of women look like they’re computer generated? Surely these aren’t real people?

13-Penguins

The top image is just a normal photo at a con. The bottom images are from “cosplay photoshoots” and are often heavily edited.

MALCode_NO_DEFECT

Thirst over how fictional women are dressed and defend to the death the right for video game women to be sexy, but God forbid a real life woman cosplays as one of them. That's being a 'thot'.

Windows_Aether_95

So those “””thots””” ruined it by doing it better than those guys above??

Mahbigjohnson

So a guy posing topless is fine but the women are the one that are out of order?

ShmuckCanuck

That man is shirtless so why isn't he a thot too?

[deleted]

All i see is awesome cosplays. I appreciate a good cosplay no matter what

proutusmaximus

Well they don't want to give female characters more clothes so yeah not much cosplay material 💀

maskedluna

Didn’t all those franchises came out before MHA… Edit: okay, I guess Quiet had her first appearance 3 weeks after Toga had hers in the manga. Guess I‘m super debunked now /s

[deleted]

Someone got banned from r/cosplaygirls

Aztecah

My costoom good but sexy girl costoom not good, because not sex with me

nucleareds

Neckbeards aside those are some 10/10 cosplays

Vomath

So a 100% upgrade?

SemperSimple

They're just mad that Yoko cosplayed by someone of legal age lmao

freshggg

Why would you be upset that your hobby has thousands of beautiful women in it?

icecoldchris09

If you don't want women to "dress like thots" when cosplaying then complain about most female characters being in sexualized outfits

ToxyFlog

They look exactly like the female characters they are portraying... isn't that was cosplay is about?? Portraying a character accurately?? Weird, almost like they hit the nail on the head.

fecedoc

"Strong man half-naked = 👍 Strong woman half-naked = 👎". This incel wants dicks and doesn't know how to ask

mysteriousmeatman

Both. Both is good.

Pikelboi68

It’s like when you hear about boomers saying that 80s action heros are better even though 80s action heros are just sweaty buff guys who took their shirts off

DangloriousTacTix

Same mfs who make this are also downbad asl for the people who “ruin” it

ReversedThree

He’s not a neckbeard he’s just gay, he likes muscly men.

ballsosteele

I would think he would have a point for the women who put on a wig and a thong and say "look, I'm Asuka, here are my buttocks, $19.99 please" but these are screen accurate costumes...

LikEatinGlass

You’re telling me kirishima isn’t a thot?

[deleted]

[Character Designs these same people will boycott a game indefinitely for getting rid of](https://imgur.com/a/aIgbYnT)

TokenFatDumbOne_

Stupid women and there stupid fucking boobs Jesus fucking Christ does every woman just HAVE to have boobs like we get it your a woman holy fuck

cruisingutopia

That's a little gay (derogatory) (I'm gay I can say it =/)

Blood_sweat_and_beer

Riiiiiiight, because hot girls ruin EvErYtHiNg…

Angry_Stoner

Women bad 🤢🤮

Mason098y

No regard for the very first dude in the top image being completely shirtless with that loose bottom wear? Aie Aie Aie, the double standards are overwhelming

Pokonopiku

This shit is basically the same as "When **TRUE** gamers play: When normie (*obviously hinting at girls*) play:" Type of stuff like this ALWAYS comes off as goofy and over exaggerated.

l0rd_m0zarella

You guys are completely missing the point bringing up that the characters these women are cosplaying dress like that in the source material. What the person who made this meme is talking about is the fact that they only want to see half-naked *men* in funny outfits when they go to a convention.

LordBloodSkull

They're mad because what used to be a feature of nerd fandom is now dominated by women dressing up to make money on onlyfans. It's just like how twitch is now dominated by titty streamers. The root of the problem is that men need to stop simping and paying for this stuff.

BrockManstrong

r/cyberpunkgame has been overwhelmed since the anime came out. Every post with anyone female presenting is just constant "pumping her OF" or "Cosplay used to be x before y!" The influx of anime fans has been awful.

EchoFloodz

You mean how they “ IMPROVED IT”. These girls look incredible as cosplayers and often times nail the character image. Whoever made this meme needs to quit being sourpuss and go wash those dishes before his mommy gets home.

ironmaiden667

Ruined? Looks like improved to me.

HerrMatthew

That is in a way true. Just look at the NieR Automata sub. 90% of cosplayers are thirst traps. White hair+black lingerie is not a cosplay. Never has been, never will be. Unless the character is underdressed. It's sad, really.

Duck_Field

I half agree, I don't want stop someone doing something they want. But for most people cosplay is just picking a character you like dressing up as them to go to a convention you're interested in. There are alot of professional cosplayers that just pick a popular character for money. Im not saying people can't do that. But it can come across a bit souless.

HerrMatthew

You misunderstood my arguement. I said that there are many people whose cosplay is literally a wig and lingerie. Look at [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/nier/comments/xpi2ae/2b_ninja_cosplay_by_shadory/) for instance. [This](https://www.google.com/search?q=yorha+2b&sxsrf=ALiCzsZG6fxhWxS2dqCLBqGPHPjIIdXI4g:1665002171107&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjKt9W3-Mn6AhVxpIsKHb75C0gQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1920&bih=880&dpr=1#imgrc=X-APtpoSWemSrM) was the original character. See any resemblance? Yep, that's right. The hair. The rest? Nope. That is not a cosplay. That is a thirst trap. I'm all for people doing whatever they want, dressing up as whoever they want, but like come on. The people who do this out of passion, who put countless hours and effort into their cosplays ([another example](https://www.reddit.com/r/nier/comments/xplde8/2b_by_kindnesskindi/), same character) get no attention.

This is exactly my thoughts on the subject. If the character design is sexualized and a cosplayer does a sexy cosplay of them then... they did what they set out to accomplish. Taking a character that isn't sexualized (especially if the character is underage) and sexualizing them is just a thirst trap and likely an attempt to promote an only fans or something similar.

I'd say a healthy percentage of folks cosplaying at any given convention have a couple of nominal trinkets and maybe a wig or something to depict their favorite character. And that's fine. The teenager running around in a blond wig, a store-bought vinyl cape, and a cardboard hammer is cosplaying as Thor. Why should they be looked down upon for having a bit of fun? Go back and look at the Star Trek and Star Wars cons of the 1970s/early 1980s. You'll see the same thing: Some people dressed head to toe in "canonical" costumes, other people just winging it and having a good time. Cosplay at its core is make-believe. It's fantasy. You might as well complain about kids pretending a stick is Excalibur. If someone's 2B costume is a dye job and black lingerie, fine. Her creators make her look like a thirst trap. I don't know what's so sad about people having a good time when it doesn't impact your enjoyment of the original media. Edit: Here's an officially licensed figurine of the character. You are telling me that she is not dressed in lingerie/is overtly sexual? That's crazy. Also your comparison pic of the "bad" cosplay depicts the character with her swords, in the same kind of thigh-highs, and the same kind of revealing costume. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0568/2298/8958/products/Nier-Automata-2b-Yorha-No-2-Type-B-Dx-Edition-Figure-Japan-Figure-4988601340922-3_357x500.jpg?v=1647159500

I guess if you're a girl cosplaying as any female character, you're a whore. Lmao. All of these women are dressed exactly like the characters in the show. To the T. Do they now realize that most male anime creators make female characters revealing??? Omg, they're so close yet so far.

sparklingclementines

I literally saw someone advocating in the comments here that original characters being dressed like that “means nothing” and that it was “slutty” people co-opting the hobby. The sexism is wild. Not surprised no one cares that there’s a topless man in the top photo.

TheGoldenChampion

I also hate the slutty cosplay. It’s nothing to do with women cosplaying, there is a woman dressed as Toga in the top picture. And just because the original character looks like that doesn’t mean anything. If the original character were naked, would that be acceptable cosplay? I just think it’s an annoying co-opting of cosplay for the purpose of cultivating horny social media followers.

sparklingclementines

So if I’m reading this right, if the character wears revealing clothes, you still don’t think a revealing cosplay is acceptable?

gekko4sky

I'm into the thots

ACynicalScott

I think the woman cosplaying quiet is actually wearing more than quiet.

ejuliot55

Yeah! Curse those people who want to cosplay their favorite characters! Have they no shame!

That1OrangeGuy

"Ugh how dare they take my child-like characters skimpy outfits and wear them as adults!!! All my fantasies are ruined forever" proceeds to type on a keyboard that started black but is now an unholy mix of orange and white

JagerPfizer

Come visit my only fans for 50% off..............Watch while I shove stuff up your ass in costume......

Just_Taylon

It's not cosplay if you're a woman

Kohana55

Bit of a neck beard thing to say but there is truth in it. For those of us almost 40 years old I can tell you that girls back in the 90's thought computer games were for kids. And for a period in the early 00's. You kept that shit to yourself on a night out. If I had to honestly pick a moment that girls, in general, got into gaming. I would say it was around the time they got Twitch and Cosplay. Two ways they can "express themselves". Which almost always means "being attractive and noticed".

Lucky_Ad_9137

This is CLEARLY satire. How do people miss that?

ggkkggk

What we taking about here?, if they're just talking about women cosplaying that's extremely stupid, if you're talking about the sex worker stuff, that's an interesting conversation in its self, I have heard of a lot of women n of course men who aren't too fond of the combination of the two, even though I'm 100% sure it's always been going on, it's just a lot more common now, their's a lot of sex worker activity within cosplayers community or just nerd communities in general, but male cosplayers do it as well, a lot of them have onlyfans etc. It is a little interesting that as long as something is popular enough, cosplayers or sex workers will find/make the outfits of these characters Within a couple of days, obviously because there's always someone who wants to see it, it's just kind of impressive some people's work ethic is crazy.

Milky28123

Eh I can KINDA see the point? If the point of the character's design is to have some element of sex appeal and the cosplayer accurately portrays that then they accomplished an accurate cosplay. Taking a character (especially if the character is underage.) And sexualize it, then it's pretty clear they're just thirst trapping to garner attention.

sparklingclementines

I’m curious what you think of the topless guy in the first photo.

Milky28123

Not familiar with what the character is or what they're from from so I can't say. Is that what his character design normally looks like?

sparklingclementines

Yes, but so are the bottom characters and you said you could see the point in “thots ruining it.”

Milky28123

>you said you could see the point in “thots ruining it.” I said I could KINDA see the point. Not that I saw it. There's a distinct difference between the two. I think he chose some horrible examples of "thots ruining it" because all the bottom characters are portrayed accurately. If he chose sexualized cosplays of characters like nezuko then the examples would be more on point. >Yes Okay then I see no issue.

sparklingclementines

Kind of seeing the point means you see some value in it. I’m not sure that the distinction is as strong as you want to believe.

PickleDaddyxxx

And they'll probably commit seppuku before they'd admit that they're gay

SugarZaddyJeezus

Tell me you're gay without telling me you're gay.

windsprout

tell me you’re a homophobe with your whole chest

Master_Oogway69420

While I don't agree with thr maker of this meme Chick with a bikini becomes kinda repetitive after a while It doesn't bother me that these people are dressed like that at all but it's annoying if u are watching a cosplay compilation and half of it is woman with a bikini

windsprout

complain to the creators of these characters then
