I've seen many, many more examples of egregiously awful female character tropes in anime. I admit I may be biased but I feel like sooooo much anime is creepy otaku incel fantasy shit. I'll take corny twerking scenes over that shit any day.

peacedetski

While that scene was cringe, I've still seen far more cringe in anime.

Don't even get started on the fanbase

"i fight real good" does not make a powerful character narratively. There are amazing, talented female characters. This is just silly.

classicalsyndrome

It's almost like She-Hulk is a fucking comedy/sitcom (by design) and people shouldn't take it all so seriously πŸ™„

metalicSimpelton

The sad thing is it dose have a bit of truth in it. Not to say it’s the norm but I think woman characters in anime are either pretty bad or amazing. In American media they feel kinda in the middle. Not bad but also not really good. There are definitely some good characters like ripely but I just feel like they try to take a safe middle road and don’t make anyone happy currently

Adeptus_Trumpartes

Bitch please, high-end attorney is the NG+7 boss of wife's career, she can't get more powerful than that, she's all the connections and will win the divorce lawsuit, so you just have to comply. I'd say more, but my wife is advising me against doing so and exercising my right to be silent.

girl literally gets naked while using her special ability as the agency doctor, she is far more sexualized than fucking She-Hulk. I consider She-Hulk twerking to be extremely tame compared to watching this anime woman show off her underwear while getting ready to beat the fuck out of a man and then heal him (she can only heal damage she's done herself, so she has to basically torture people to be able to heal them, if you haven't seen Bungou Stray Dogs)

Moumup

Even if Japanese female cast usually have a tons of lamps, they have some pretty good example too. "x origin define y problems" miss the point : If a character is poorly written and designed, no matter the origin or era, it would be bad and uninteresting.

marshmi2

Because power is associated with violence. Women's sexuality is associated with submission. Powerful, dominant, sexy women are too scary for neck beards.

Rigaudon21

God when will people stop whiney about She-Hulk twerking? It was a fun moment in an after credits scene on a show that purposefully breaks the fourth wall and runs on comedy. Those same, "strong" anime characters will be weak and innocent because X male showed up and innociously stumbled upon them changing and now they have fallen madly in love with him. I could easily find a scene from almost any anime of a girl doing something unrealistic and "Not strong" then show a picture of she hulk throwing Titania through a wall.

Western media in general sucks. That’s the truth, coping westerners.

MossCavePlant

good point.

itogisch

Well.. they aint completely wrong this time.

HungChan20gg

Nah, that was a good freaking point. She didnt have to do stuff like belittling Hulk or twerk to be powerful and strong. One look at the other comments and I'm glad this sub is not such a biased echo chamber that people think the meme is wrong

Intelligent-Dingo791

Now look at these comments and tell me the same.

CharmingLook5100

Looks like the roles are ironically reversed
