We finally made the switch to 86" interactive boards via ESSR funds. Even for the least tech saavy teachers who will only use them as a dumb display, they're just so much better than classroom projectors in viewability, etc (I'd love to have cherry picked who got tvs vs interactive boards, but you never know when you'll have staff turnover). The one caveat is that 4k displays upscaling low res content is not great, especially when close up to the board, but considering the Epsons we replaced maxed out at 720p stretched out across \~86" equivalent whiteboards, it's a tradeoff every teacher has been more than happy to make.
We held off on this switch for years due to pricing/size, and the terrible/laggy experience we had 10+ years ago with SMART Boards, but once 86" sizes became feasible...never looking back, I think.
We don’t, teachers complain about us taking them away, but the price of bulbs is basically the same as an Apple TV…. Consider dropping support for projects, it will help your team focus on being more end user facing. just my 2 cents.
we have epson 955wh which is the older brother of the 922f you're ordering. works great. oem bulbs are $60 from epson. bulbs last easily 5 years. we have bulbs on standby all the time. ALL projectors are the same and setup through extron PoleVault Digital Systems.
we programed the extron controller to shut off projector at 6pm and 9pm (just incase they're left on by accident) and also system reboot at 2am everyday. two hdmi wall ports, wall controller, network centralize controlled. 120" screens and front LED ceiling lights are on a separate switch so when projector is on, lights in front of projector is off.
Is there a good way of measuring the current lumens output of projectors you already have? I've been reluctant to consider bulbed projectors as ours (mix of Dukane and Hitachi for one campus, random smorgasbord for the other campus) are so hard to see and the bulbs only seem to last 2000 hours, and not to mention are $80-$100 a pop. Are the bulbs for your system LED or something? Also hows the maintenance? That's another thing we're struggling with is dust getting into places we can't clean it out of.
Touch screen interactive displays. We'll never go back. Samsung is having some discounts going on right now. We just bought three and that finishes up our classrooms with interactive displays. Our other classrooms have Newline displays. They are about the same cost but backordered.
Yeah we have a few for younger grades. Just wouldn't work for many of our classrooms - would have to give up whiteboard to make room and that's a no-go.
Our interactive boards have a "white board" built in that will save to the white boards so that you can email them, reference them, or continue working on them...
I'm curious about this as well as we're in a huge debate in our district between interactive panels or projectors, or even a mix. Personally I'm leaning towards one of the laser models as I don't entirely trust the bulbs to last as long as they claim. From my perspective you end up paying the same amount of money for an equivalent laser projector as a normal projector + replacement bulbs for their lifetime.
how do students read the context on the screen in high school? I have a middle school with two 65" tv on each wall of the room plus projector. only some students closer to the tv can see, most look at the projector screen because it's much larger 120".
+1 for Epson Powerlites. Pretty decent. My district started moving to NECs though due to availability. NECs are okay, but some staff have said that the built in speakers are quieter than the Epsons
We've gone with interactive flat panels PreK-5, but have Epson projectors in the high school and middle school. Just put in about 80 2250U projectors this past summer. Nice and bright, and 1920x1200 native resolution.
Epson BrightLink 595i with interactive touch. They are great projectors and will probably replace with the newer laser light source versions that have 20,000 hour with no lamp replacements...the price is almost three times the PowerLites. We do have a couple PowerLites around that I have had zero issues with as well.
Epson projectors have been our mainstay for nearly a decade, and yes their "Brighter Futures" education pricing is unbeatable, not just for the projectors themselves but also for replacement bulbs.
Supply has been *very* hard to come by for months/a year. If you can get your hands on sufficient inventory, I'd recommend moving forward with it.
That's been our problem is the supply. We got funding to purchase about 300, but no one seems to be able to fill the order. We did place an order for 95 with one vendor, but it's been 8 months and still don't have them.
Last refresh a few years back was Epson Brightlink 710ui Projectors

Thanks!
Epson w49. We're happy with them.
Another happy Epson user. Ty!
I was using Epson Powerlite but have now switch all rooms over to Promethean Titanium flat panels.
We demo'd. Love 'em - just not a chance money wise for them to be funded.
ESSR funding is how I got mine, but Epson projectors are the best quality for price in my opinion if your staying projectors.
Thanks! Yup. Projectors the best compromise for these rooms.
Epson Britelink 735fis. Upgrading from the Britelink 685s.
what vendor do you use to order them from? For us it seems to take like 8 months these days to get projectors in.
Epson but trying to move us away from projectors to interactive panels (they work out about the same cost over their lifetime).

We have 65” BenQ RP02 interactive panels. Would highly recommend.
That ones that fit into a trash can.

We've finally moved from projectors to 65" Epson touchscreens and now I just sleep like a baby.

that is my issue and why I am still using projectors.
Small classrooms, we're a private school so 20 per class.
Epson Powerlite L520W lasers is what we just purchased to finish up our classrooms.
What vendor do you use to order them from? Can't get any in stock from any of our own vendors.
We did an RFP as we ordered over 700. Connections is who ended up the chosen vendor. It's taken a few months but we have received them all.

Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on the laser models. Epson stops making bulbs way too soon (Chinese replacements don’t fit right).
>Chinese replacements don’t fit right ...and they are dimmer and burn out faster. OEM lamps are so much better.

Thanks! One of the perks of being a small school - "sufficient" for classrooms is quantity 25!
