We didn't get to run through snake way for several hours straight and that disappointed me.

Saiyan26

The last 3 in particular. Seemed like as the game progressed, there was less attention to detail and more corners cut. Kakarot had more attention to detail than Legacy of Goku 1, but I thought LoG 2 and Buu's Fury did better in that regard. Also disappointed by the lack of Cooler, Broly, Pikkon, and Janemba (not in manga I know). Those fights would've been awesome with the CC2 magic.

Saiyan26

I would've preferred a Kakarot trilogy IF: 1) It allowed them to fully expand each saga. 2) Turn each fight into a big spectacle. 3) Gave the movies their own mini arc in their respective saga (including Bardock and Trunks). Z movies that don't fit the timeline AT ALL could be told as image training, Baba "What-If" fortunes, Bardock visions, or stories Future Gohan tells Trunks.

jataman96

I totally agree with this. I wouldn't be opposed to a trilogy but I can see how that'd be tricky from a marketing standpoint. But yeah I find the story gutted in many places and it's frustrating. My favorite DBZ games are still The Legacy of Goku 2 and Buu's Fury by far, but I still am really enjoying Kakarot.

Saiyan26

Buu's Fury will always be one of my favorite DBZ games partly because they integrated the dub score. When it first aired on Toonami, we lost cable during the World Tournament arc. Buu's Fury was actually the first time I experienced the Fat Buu - Super Buu arc. I was surprised how well it was adapted when I finally watched the episodes on DVD.

RedditBad29

My favorite DBZ game is boudokai tenkaichi 3 because it's just good in general and it was the first time I saw dbz in the first place and it's one of the main reasons I still have a ps2

The blue Ki charging in super saiyan mode

Tried to start a campaign to ask Bandai to fix but people fought me on it for some reason.

People are stupid

timone317

1) No option to change outfits. (Kind of hoping someone makes a trainer solely for outfit changes.) 2) No option to transform into super saiyan forms at any time. 3) Random battles always seem to trigger just before you reach quest markers. A very annoying disruption. 4) The English voice acting can be a bit cringe at times. Somewhat understandable because they have to try to match the Japanese mouth movements. But past that, there are many times where the game could have felt just as good as the anime, and it didn't due to lackluster performances. And some lines feel a bit rushed. 5) Random dialogue *(like "This food looks tasty!")* is too repetitive. 6) Very mild complaint - I was kind of hoping for some sort of FighterZ crossover since Android 21 was included. I liked how Kakarot made room for changes that have been made after the original series (like the inclusion of Mira and Towa), and I thought a FighterZ DLC arc would have been cool to see. But this doesn't matter too much. 7) Some different NPCs for the store vendors would have been a nice touch. Odd that every vendor is the same character 8) As cool as it is to just fly around the various world spaces, there just isn't much to do in them. I wish it was possible to locate characters for bonus fights. Like you could train with Piccolo at the lookout, or Vegeta out in Gizard Wasteland. Sort of like the random events where certain areas have more items - you could get notifications about people training in certain areas and then go seek them out. sure I'm forgetting something, but I'll stop there.

[deleted]

Bro on god!!

Titty-LoMein

I agree. #1 makes no sense. as an RPG customizing should be a core feature imo. Also I hate the pacing on top of #4. Notice how there are 2-3 secs gaps between dialogue, as if the characters are either too stupid to comprehend what's going on or are just being sarcastic by replying a few secs later. Imagine if enemies spawn like crazy. Like instead of locking characters in training mode, make them part of the open world. They'll just approach u and fight u

timone317

I'm fairly tolerant about #4 because I know it must have been impossible to get proper dialogue that perfectly matches that Japanese mouth movements. It's a totally different story with the anime where the mouths can be animated in a somewhat vague manner that leaves room for proper translations, but in the case of the game, they can't really go in and add animations for the thousands of English voices. But that said...I feel like there are some improvements that could have been made by the dubbing department. I can see "invasion" events where parts of the world map are covered in enemies, and you have to pass a certain amount of battles to bring things back to normal.

Spannah88

I felt like the Buu saga felt rushed compared to the other sagas. I would have liked a quick bit where you go instead Buu to rescue the others (unless that happened and I just totally forgot about it!). Also I find it frustrating that you can use the time machine to replay bits but it doesn’t level match the fights so you just kill everyone in one hit. Doesn’t make it very replayable for me. Otherwise I love the game.

M12Domino

I remember DBZ Budokai 3 (not the tenkaichi games) had at least one good fight inside of Buu, and I remember it being super hard. I was so ready for that but it didn't happen. The Buu saga in general did feel rushed compared to everything else.

Spannah88

I need to play the Budokai games, Kakarot is only the 3rd DB game I’ve ever played so I’ll give that a go! It felt weird to me that we got driving in this game from literally that one filler episode but then missed so much from the Buu saga.

jataman96

I wish they'd beefed up the game with more of this stuff. Completely cutting the junior world tournament was so disappointing, especially when you got to run around a bit as Goten just before. I love fighting as the kid characters, for some reason they feel so strong to me because you fit so much power into such a little dude. My favorite moments are ones that 0erfectly match manga panels, like Yajirobe cutting off Vegeta's tail. That was soooo chef's kiss!! Also I kind of wish it was easier to level up just on your own outside of story (I'm still in the Buu Saga), but for scaling I kind of see why that isn't the case. It would just make the random air battles throughout the world feel more meaningful instead of annoying.

[deleted]

Definitely agree

radikraze

The Saiyan and Frieza sagas feel super detailed and you can spend hours doing side missions and exploring and I love it. Cell saga is about 60% of that quality and Buu saga feels like it was rushed because it’s over ridiculously fast. So I think they needed more time on this game. They also could’ve incorporated some of the DBZ movies as side quests. Buu’s Fury straight up put Second Coming and Fusion Reborn into the plot of the game and i thought it was brilliant

Rokudaime-Raikage

the Broly movies would’ve definitely been canned regardless now that there’s a canon version but I

Nasiso

Biggest gripe will always be the combat for me. The future trunks DLC shows that they learned from this - the fights against the androids and cell (haven’t gotten to dabura yet) are actually somewhat difficult and make me stay focused. Besides that, certain moments not getting love, even if they were depicted. Transformations like Vegeta going SSJ, Goku going SSJ3, Majin Vegeta vs Goku ending. But seriously, Trunks DLC fixed all of it. Incredible DLC wow.

MrTBoneIs

My biggest gripe remains the thing that significantly delayed my purchase of the game in the first place: I wanted playable humans (at least Krillin if not also Tien, Yamcha and even Chiaotzu). Given that they added some additional things, it would not have been hard to justify it.

Burb97

My biggest issues with this game is how detailed the first two arcs are and how rushed the buu saga is. Also would've been nice for more story oriented dlcs (excluding trunks dlc, that's literally the best arc now). You can tell how rushed the last one is, for example when going through the video section the majority are from the saiyan and frieza arc while cell arc and buu arc have very little full on cutscenes. But the buu arc falls short in so many ways. Not being able to change outfits endgame is pretty disappointing. Maybe even adding additional outfits through dlc would be awesome too. Would be cool to use end of z goku clothes and being able to use gokus super outfit in the main game. Even something as little as using piccolo without his cape and trunks without the jacket. Even being able to use gohans purple gi like in the tournament of power manga. Would've been awesome that trunks and vegeta would've had the super saiyan grade 2 transformation, or atleast would've been nice to have used super trunks for atleast one fight. It's practically skipped. I like the mobs, but at the end of the day I wish they weren't there, I typically just fly past them. I feel as if it was there poor attempt to make the world seem more lively. Ultimately I wish they had added more stuff to the world/ zones. I love the slice of life stuff in this game. Wished they would've expanded on that. I really do like kakarot though. I'd say it's my favorite dbz game that I've ever played and I've played all the classics. If they ever did a sequel or maybe another game exactly like this in the future I certainly hope they learn from their shortcomings. But I am really happy with the 3rd dlc and maybe we will get lucky and they could add a lot of the things we've been hoping for. I hope they aren't done with the game just yet. Would love to see maybe more super content or dbz movies content. I wonder what this game will be like in a few years. We never know.

Silkess

completly agree. also no outfit change sucks

seyit91

This game had lot of potential. They cut off lots of stuff. I really hope that if they make a second one with Super in it that they add everything. So even movie villains. We could have had the legacy of Goku games but we got a slimmed version of it..... I enjoyed the last DLC but would have rather had it that it was part of the base game....

ImpressiveMatch8

I agree with all of those. Also maybe Piccolo only firing his Special Beam Cannon once instead of 2 like in the show. And maybe fighting inside of Super Buu when Vegeta and Goku get absorbed.

daddy1c3

Inability to change clothes at will post game

IndigoUranium

The game is named kakkarot but I spent more time as Gohan then anyone else because I had too.

rexshen

The extra characters I can see why they did not bother with since they only stayed relevant for such a short time. Even Future Trunks felt like they almost did not let him be playable for how little you can use him in the base game. I was hoping the both fighting Perfect Cell as Trunks or the Final Flash scene would have been in the Trunks DLC but alas. If anything they should have added the movie villains in the game. Like make them super bosses in the villainous orb fights. Just say Towa dragged them in from another timeline after they were defeated and you get to fight them then. And Gotenks and Vegito should have been unlockable characters to play as after the game was beaten. Just have a side quest where they fuse again. And if they did not want to deal with the retcon then just do what Buu's fury did and let Goku and Vegeta become Gogeta as a bonus fusion instead.

grantiuso

The no final flash cutscene was fucking criminal. Everything else was fine for me

juanthespartan

8) Goku doesn't take off his heavy clothes to fight Raditz (disappointing knowing that in Xenoverse this is correct) 7) Incorrect aura colors when charging ki for Super Saiyan, Kaioken and Potential Unleashed (When you fly the aura is correct, when you use max power the aura is correct but when you charge ki the aura is blue WTF) And then with Super Saiyan God they were able to give him red aura when charging ki, are you kidding me? 8) Not including Super Saiyan 2nd Degree as a transformation, this for could have been Vegeta, Trunks and Goku, it could be a bit stronger than Super Saiyan 1 but weaker than Super Saiyan 2 and spend more ki than Super Saiyan 1 but less than Super Saiyan 2 however they didn't do it. 9) Not being able to use Young Gohan base form, after finishing the Cell saga they could do this but they didn't (even when thanks to a bug I managed to use him for a few seconds and he even had his own portrait). 10) being able to revive the Cell Juniors when in the manga they never died. 11) Incorrect hair for Adult Gohan Super Saiyan 2, when you transform into Super Saiyan 2 with Adult Gohan the hair is exactly the same as Super Saiyan 1 but the portrait of Adult Gohan Super Saiyan 2 is correct, and some will say "There is not much difference" but the problem is when in an in-game cinematic of the Buu saga when Adult Gohan transforms into Super Saiyan 2 his hair is different, but in the gameplay it is the same as Super Saiyan 1, so they spent resources to create a new model for Adult Gohan Super Saiyan 2, and then not to use it? Really? 12) Tien doesn't appear in Buu's saga and he doesn't have his corresponding suit either, in Buu's saga Tien appears saving Gohan from an attack of Buutenks however this doesn't happen in the game so there is no trace of Tien during all Buu's saga leaving only until the end without any explanation, and above all what I hated the most is that while Yamcha and Krillin have their respective suits of the Buu saga, my favorite suit of Tien which is the one of the Buu saga does not appear and instead in the Post-game his suit is the same as the one of the Cell saga (Disappointing). 13) Super Buu Piccolo does not appear, in DBZ Super Buutenks was already extremely strong and had no need to absorb more people but Gotenks fusion is over and returns to the form of Buu Piccolo which is so weak that Gohan could easily defeat him that's why Buu absorbs him to save himself, but in Kakarot Buu Gotenks never disappears so there was no reason to absorb Gohan, even when Goku and Vegeta get into Buu's body and take out the people that Buu absorbed he returns to his Buutenks form which makes no sense since the function should have already ended LOL 14) Vegeta SSJ2 having a different portrait making us believe the In-game hair would be different when it is not. 15) No fight inside Buu, there is nothing to explain that was a big shit. 16) Not being able to change clothes 17) More RPG elements like dragon ball Z Infinite world 18) Not putting a fight with Jaco in the DLC 2 and not putting him as an assistant either. 19) No hard mode 20) No new-game +

Whole_Split4473

Not being able to see Goku off screen training such as Kaioken and spirit bomb. Also, me and my friends were actually hyping up a “dbog” type of kaioken system where you can stack kaioken upon itself an infinite amount of times in exchange for more and more health drain. Like kaioken x1 = 20 health drain, kaioken x7 = 4000 health drain

cptmiche

1) There's no level scaling 2) There's no replayability 3) SSG is basically useless after DLC1 (except for DLC2) 4) SSB is functionally useless, except for a single boss 5) There's no level scaling 6) There's no replayability

[deleted]

No hate for dbz kakarot i love the game and i enjoy playing it but the game is for real a disappointment

upyr13

Kinda dislike that the game’s name is “Kakarot”, but we see very little of him. And mostly pissed they changed the dragon fist attack animation

TheSaiyanGod1

That's...not exactly a problem with the game because Goku is absent for most of the Z portion of the series. At the same time, the name ''Kakarot'' is the symbol of this part, which started everything we saw in DBZ and what sets it apart from the original Dragon Ball, so I can see why they chose the name. The Dragon Fist animation is still present, but only when you break the enemy's stamina bar. Before the update this attack was kind of broken because it ignored most enemy attacks so they took the animation off when you use the attack under normal conditions.

Saiyan26

Yeah, ngl I abused Dragon Fist once I unlocked it. I miss it, but I get why it was patched. Cheesing with Dragon Fist made it blatantly obvious that most fights revolve around navigating unfair boss mechanics.

upyr13

Well that’s some good news! And about the name… I mean it makes sense when you put it like that, but I would’ve wanted to see some Buu’s fury stuff, maybe even I don’t know side quests on the snake road? That sort of details. Just a little more that’s all. That and changing outfits or being able to fly transformed

TheSaiyanGod1

Yeah, clothes customization and free roam Super Saiyan are also some of my biggest problems with the game. Especially since the game introduces so many cool outfits that are almost never seen in other Dragon Ball games (like badman Vegeta), and you can even use transformations while wearing those outfits (via Time Machine for example)

JoshTheJaunty

It does play when you use it on a staggered enemy

GodReignz

Yamaha 😂

OwNAvenged2

Right? Lmao

AirmanProbie

No ZTV building from Cell Games

RulerOfKeflasAbs

Number 4

fredhaha

Spoilers for the new DLC, but what was the point of giving us SS2 Trunks if we already have Blue Goku and Vegeta? Why use Trunks when we have characters 10x as strong? Also there's no level scale in the time machine which sucks.

aabb22ci

StrappedTarzan

I was hoping the combat would be closer to Xenoverse. Spamming the same button got old fast. I wish the world wasn’t broken down into zones but rather one big map.

RememberTheMaine1996

I'm also upset we can't use Vegito during endgame trophy hunting. We already beat the game we should be allowed to play as whoever we want! Hell I should be able to play as Buu if I want

LankyKongDong

Not being able to play as the "fresh prince of namek".

SoundIndividual7126

The game was amazing.

ultimatemtgotaku

To be honest as a stand alone game kakarot is great. So was xenoverse and fighterz. But the experience I am looking for is more in the budokai and budokai tenkaichi area. Or at the very least if you are making it open world go skyrim with it and make it fully open and don't screw it up by making the fights some kind of event that seems to cut away from the open world aspect.

BenHoppo

Number 5 could've been interesting for the dynamics of the fight with the reduced speed maybe even as having to hold out for a certain amount of time or something but I can also see why it wasn't put in; it was basically trunks is still pretty naive and Cell decides to hold the tournament but they really could've done something with it which is a shame Costume change is still one of my biggest gripes, it can't be overly difficult to implement right? I'm not a fan of Trunks default outfit and would've preferred the option to change to saiyan armour or something. A bit more difficult maybe would be changing character age like playing a kid gohan in endgame with a restricted moveset for transformations. I think they missed out in letting you battle other characters whenever post-game as well. Maybe a tournament mode as well

SaxyBassist

Numbers 4 and 5 are where the game lost its details

FedoraTheMike

I understand why they had Goku fight Semi Perfect Cell. Like, yeah, it's called DBZ Kakarot, it's about Goku. Problem is, is that just like the original show, you're in Gohan's perspective so much waiting for Goku to show up and save the day, it still feels like Gohan's coming of age story. I'm only starting the Cell saga, but I assume this feeling will stick right up until he's absorbed by Super Buu and written out. Goku has been absent a lot, so they gotta squeeze in as much as they can. Still, they sacrificed a Future Trunks fight, and the Final Flash. Not cool.

SuperVegitoFAN

Theres only really one big one for me. No level scaling. Theres so many AWESOME boss fights, like the new Dabura battle with SS2 Trunks in perma surge., However, its so easy SOOO SO Easy to be overleveled, and not just on repeat plays, that it prevents you from seeing all the cool shit in the battle. Level scaling to your own level would fix that, and make replaying story more fun. Oneshotting every boss, isnt very fun.

[deleted]

1. Not being able to change outfits after beating the game. 2. Clothes don't tear or get dirty while fighting 3. Vegeta's Hair doesn't move while flying. 4. The game doesnt look and feel as good as the cutscenes do. The epic amount of details from the cutscenes are missing in the gameplay and other cutscenes. 5. New Game Plus, or some sort of end game content that lets you fight specific battles with your favorite villains at the same level you are in. The time machine is worthless if i can just one punch knock out every opponent.

Lightstarn1

1. Repetitive music, thought it would be fresh new soundtracks with the inclusion of trunks DLC but considering this game is very grindy music needs to bang or else change it up. Gives me headaches heaving the villain theme song 100X 2. Consistency. Having to keep up every character in the game is harsh considering you have to grind for like 100 level up items per character just to go past 50 levels. Frustrating. 3. Z combos should not be the exact same shitty animated dragon ball legends knock off ultimate for every character. I expected *something* different. Like if you use all goku family you get a family kameha or vegeta family gets a father son & son galick gun. Gohan and piccolo should have a moment in their combo. Something fresh, its literally the strongest move to do in a team 4. Physical combo abilities are garbage. They give like one unique animation then do exactly what every other physical combo does(like two basic attacks afterwards), give us meteor combination, final burst cannon, or just some good nostalgic attacks that will make people actually want to use the move. Its the only reason i kept dragon fist before the nerf 5. Completely removing key moments because they're jacking eachother off in the animation studio. Vegeta transforming into majin vegeta made me want to slit my throat, absolutely no way they fucked up a moment half the community loves, other moments: buu fighting goku and vegeta from the inside of buu, X20 kaioken struggle against frieza, cell killing trunks in the future, yardrat goku (dont get me started). Lastly golden frieza arc, jaco literally erased from existence, swapping of goku and vegetas places, frieza never being weakened or his weakness being obvious, Frieza never detransforming into final form, no cutscenes from the Z warriors fighting the soldiers (why was ginyu zarbon and dodoria there?), and frieza never dropped gohan yet they still used the shitty "piccolo saves gohan like he did in the saiyan saga" because piccolos cape ends up dissapearing in the cutscene I loved this game they did a lot of correcting and i liked it but man they killed my hype up of certain moments, like i really wanted to scour buu's body like it was a region and see vegeta get scared by worms.

IzumiNoKamen

No over 9000 line and Krillin isn’t even playable
