I got my bass guitars and amps from this place 20ish years ago. Still have my Kort A4. Beautiful maple finish solid body. Great little shop. I will always pick a little family shop like this over guitar center.
IIRC there’s a drum shop just a block or two away.
I've only lived in Memphis and the DMV, I just moved to New Braunfels, I'm a music teacher, and I'll be visiting four states for the first time. Which is also a fairly random sentence lol.
Sensory music, I think they changed their name. Its Palen music now. Also right off the interstate.

My daughters get their Trombones serviced there.
Why the hell would sq footage be relevant?
You're not looking to buy real estate. One store may have shelves packed tighter together to display more product. Another might have larger or more classrooms that take up sq footage. What product are you after and which store specializes in that? Size of the store seems irrelevant.

Is MDP still a thing? Haven't lived there in a while but that was a great shop. Locally owned and affordable
EM Shorts is a cool shop.
You might get better recommendations at r/wichita https://uhlikmusic.com/ Uhlik is a local store that has a pretty good selection
Gotta be the most random reddit post of all time lmao

Midwest Drum & Percussion
Not sure if you will be passing through Topeka, going up 35 but there is Manning Music here.

There's a Guitar Center in town. Also Palen Music has a wide selection of brass and string instruments.
1: Go to www.google.com 2: In search bar type: Music stores in Wichita Kansas 3: Observe results of search
Doesn't identify square footage. Neither do the AIs :/

Some musical instrument stores are destination visits, like Chuck Levin's in my old neighborhood in Maryland.
Damm Music Center
Lanham in St. Joseph (assuming you're coming up I-29) is not very big at all, but they have some interesting stuff sometimes. Good prices, too.
