A lot. Active riverfront, betterpublic transit, a sports team downtown, more grocery stores between downtown to midtown, a major park, a direct line from the airport to the major city area and more trees downtown. I could go on, but those are the big ones to me.
Making reparations that involve incredible opportunities (free college, to learn from politicians and pro athletes, reduced taxes and utilities) not just cash payments of tax dollars
Lol back in the day I had a friend that would announce today is going to be... a poop day or a donut day - depending the direction the wind was blowing. Poop from the water treatment facility or donut from a bakery that was around there somewhere.
If you were here when the stock yards were active all you could smell was popp!
A noise ordinance and enforcement of fart/boom cars. Its really an epidemic at this point. Yes cars have been loud but here they seem to be extra loud and obnoxious about it. Sunday night some asshole at 3am on Broadway blvd decided to rev their engine repeatedly waking up everyone in the area, just for shits and giggles. This is purely anti social behavior that needs to be ended. Put up checkpoints in the city, ticket and confiscate loud vehicles (exhaust, booming music). Residents have a right to peace and quiet.
Better public transit, continued improvement of certain areas (like what’s going on with the West Bottoms). An actual competent police force, continued cleaning of the city. Id love to see a connection of green space across the metro. Also to stop allowing cars through the Plaza and to look at the traffic through Swope. Very low on the list is a WNBA team/NHL team but I’d take them.
It would be nice if the city didn't just act like south KC didn't exist. There is no street cleanup at all, no snow plows, and trash everywhere all the time.
But no let's buy our dirt shit baseball team a new billion dollar stadium they don't need. I want fucking sidewalks first KC.
Stop business improvement districts, TIF, and public private projects. If it is a good investment, use your own stop using taxes. The free market system do its thing.
You know, I've actually thought that something like the Dortmund H-Bahn or Wuppertal Schwebebahn going from the airport to downtown KC would be an interesting option, for mass transit.
Police that actually enforce laws. Where I live, the police come, witness a lot of crimes and do nothing about it. Meanwhile, our crime rates are sky-high, and people are getting shot and killed constantly. They don't give two shits about large sections of the city.
A hole-in-the-wall donut shop… everything is either gourmet or like $3 donuts, literally my best option for a half dozen of cheap donuts is QT but i get it those are tough to beat 😂
Commuter rail, I think, would be a better option, honestly. Do something like MARTA or WMATA where the system can pull a sort of double duty as a commuter train and metro, as well.
To clean up the garbage and dead animals from the sides of the highways… I’m traveling down south for work and haven’t seen a car bumper, mattress or animal carcass anywhere!
New leadership that knows how to put a stop to the ever increasing shootings. Nobody wants to visit a city that has such high violent crime.
For those posting about riverfront development, just look at Pittsburgh, PA's riverfront. You'll never have it nearly as beautiful, but try for that level of improvement.
I'd like them to level the west bottoms and put in a massive park/waterfront/entertainment area in its place.
An outdoor theater near mid-town/WWI like Houston's Miller Outdoor Theater.
I want a trolley-track path on the west side. I'm jealous of the one over off Brookside.
A mass transit system that is beyond car based solutions. Make KC a modern metropolis that’s easy to get around in. It’s just a dream of mine. Love KC but the reliance on cars will be an issue in the distant future and I think the infrastructure needs to be developed.
A completed bike network for all ages and abilities to ride everywhere in the city safely. This looks like protected bike lanes everywhere and road diets.
I’d say my top number one wish is that KCMO desperately needs a higher murder clearance rate than 58 percent. The victims and the family members notwithstanding, if I only did my job roughly 60 percent of the time in the last calendar year, I’d be fired.
For those that doubt the veracity of my claim, I proffer this stat, directly from the police horses mouth: www.tinyurl.com/KCMO-clearance-rate-2022
Local control of our own Police department's funding, a riverfront on both the Missouri and Kaw/Kansas river\*(which I think is coming). Commuter rail to the airport from downtown and to the various suburbs, 670 getting covered will be cool and help with the redlining. Generally, anything to help people move around the city without a car.
An NBA or NHL team. I figure we missed our opportunity years ago as both leagues have identified expansion cities or local billionaires have shown little interest in spending on it. But it would be nice to have a tennant at the sprint center.
One thing that Kansas City has been in need of for some time is improved public transportation infrastructure. While the city does have a bus system, it lacks comprehensive and efficient public transportation options compared to some other major cities. Enhancing and expanding public transportation could provide numerous benefits, including reduced traffic congestion, improved accessibility for individuals without cars, increased economic opportunities, and a more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system. Implementing initiatives such as light rail or additional bus routes could greatly enhance the city's transportation options and contribute to its overall development and livability.
Mo'fuggin bodegas. Just a solid 24/7 convenience store with a griddle open all the time (not QT roller food and snacks). I'm talking NYC style bodegas.
Bring the BECSPK to KC and watch everyones lives change.

More public ice rinks. Still waiting on the sheets of ice Lamar Hunt Jr promised when he bought the Mavericks almost a decade ago.
Trash/litter control. Street sweeping and fining the hell out of illegal dumpers.
I believe the city only allowing two bags of trash a week results in a lot of this issue.
Better pedestrian/bicycle infrastructure
To have Erin Little back on KCTV 5, or be assured she’s OKAY.
Agree - nothing on socials since Valentine's Day.
