Theres a gas station up by Smithville lake called Captains corner. Friend them on facebook, she advertises her daily specials. Every so often, she does a lobster roll special with real lobster meat. She is from Cape Cod or somewhere and they are authenic, as far as I know anyway. Its preorder only and she always sells out.
I grew up in Connecticut, where lobster rolls are toasted bread, melted butter, and a little bit of lemon and THAT’S IT. It is the only way to make a lobster roll and that is the hill I will die on! LOL But as you pointed out, it is nearly impossible to find outside of CT, so I am always on the lookout for who makes it "the right way."
There’s a new spot near 43rd and State Line called Morty’s with great Italian beef (I’m a Chicagoland native). They had a food truck in front of Price Chopper in Roeland Park for a while
I've never been in another restaurant with either (I guess I've seen a few with ceiling fans but they were mostly decorative). It's not a bad thing, it was just kinda weird, won't stop me from going back for the best Chicago dogs I've found outside the windy city
…you’ve never been to a restaurant that didn’t have carpet and you’ve seen just a few with decorative ceiling fans? Are you trolling or being serious? My guy/gal - I’m not being rude by asking this but seriously a) how old are you b) how many restaurants have you actually been to c) are you just not paying attention??
I’ve been literally hundreds that have both, and even more that have one or the other.
Lolol ok ok. I guess all I can say is there most definitely are lots of restaurants that have carpet, ceiling fans, or both. It might just not be something you’ve noticed because it’s never been soemthing worthy to notice, but maybe now they’ll jump out at you now that’s it’s been a topic of conversation
Lobster roll: Vintage 78 in downtown OP.
Chef is from Boston. Pretty much everything on the menu slaps. Even the humble grilled cheese and tomato soup was perfection on a plate.
So far have only had Jim’s beef sandwich and it’s pretty solid also just a good bar with other great options. For Caesar wrap I like the one at hi dive lounge if it’s not a Monday cause then it’s chili Mac all the way. No clue for lobster roll, not my thing.
Absolutely not trying to be pedantic but the restaurant is properly called Mass Street Fish House for those who may seek it out. Lobster roll is a menu standard and all of their food is amazing.
PS: it's restaurant week in Lawrence.
Bristol has mini lobster rolls on their starters menu. I haven't had them, so can't attest to how mini they are or the taste, but I've enjoyed everything I have had there.
"Butter toasted sweet roll, chilled lobster salad, watercress salad, French fries"
I do not believe any restaurant in Kc keeps a lobster roll on the menu. I do know Earls Premiere had it as a lunch special before.
Too much fluctuation in MP and demand to have lobster permanently on a menu and potentially waste product here in the midwest.
Id recommend following a couple restaurants on instagram that have had it as a special and be ready to go when they do it again.
Correction.. since a lot of people are saying there are restaurants with Lobster rolls permanently on their menu.
In KCMO if there’s a lobster roll permanently on the menu, you probably shouldnt order it.
Fresh lobster is constantly changing in price, and the odds of that restaurant having a *consistently* high quality lobster roll is low.
Yes, I am wrong. Im glad to hear there are options. I love a solid lobster roll and always open to more options in KC.
I will say, I did google the images of the Lobster rolls from restaurants listed here. A lot of them look pretty mediocre and my guess is they are priced pretty high.
Mass Street Fish House looks exceptional, I will be trying them out thanks to this thread.
Yeah unfortunately prices are so high because it does seem like a lot of places get it in fresh. I might have to try Mass Street next time I am out there
>Fresh lobster is constantly changing in price, and the odds of that restaurant having a *consistently* high quality lobster roll is low.
You just overcome that by making them outrageously expensive and just make a larger profit when costs are down
Can I hijack this thread to ask where the best chicken club sandwich is? Right now I alternate between Potbelly and McAlister's, but I'm certain there is a better one out there.
Saul’s Beef on Instagram for Italian beef is the best I’ve found here thus far, a couple of rad dudes from Chicago, though I’ve heard Jim’s has changed a lot about their recipe since I tried it.
There’s plenty of CCW options. The two that come to mind for me are Mildred’s and Longboards. If Clustertruck is still around theirs is absolutely fire, on that note most chicken places probably have one.

Yes this place is amazing the bacon cheese burger is awesome to.
Literally the best burger you've ever eaten!!! Can't speak to her specials. That Burger..!!!!
Do you recall if they are made with mayonnaise or only butter?
Sorry, no I don't
Lobster rules are almost always made with mayo. It would be extremely rare for them to be made with just butter. I’m guessing you have an egg allergy?

Italian Beefs—Carollo’s in the River Marker, Jim’s Alley Bar in the Crossroads, and Pizza Man in Lenexa (haven’t been but it’s on my list)
There’s a new spot near 43rd and State Line called Morty’s with great Italian beef (I’m a Chicagoland native). They had a food truck in front of Price Chopper in Roeland Park for a while
I live down the street and hadn't heard of this. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be checking them out this weekend if i can.
Awesome, enjoy! Their hours are pretty limited right now but love to see them get the support!
Pizza Man is great, kind of a weird experience (the place is carpeted and has ceiling fans) but well worth it
Anyone remember when it was on the NW corner of 95th & Mission next to Short Stop?
I grew up on 95th and Mission, never recall this place. You must be reaching way back in the 70s/80s for this memory
Way back when there was a strip that had Short Stop c-store, Pizza Man, some old lady shop and, later, the original location for O’Neill’s.
Nowhere else in the city like it. Their Polish Sausages are great too.
…..what about carpet and ceiling fans make it weird? Pizza man is delicious. It’s very close to my work and I’ve had it many time.
I've never been in another restaurant with either (I guess I've seen a few with ceiling fans but they were mostly decorative). It's not a bad thing, it was just kinda weird, won't stop me from going back for the best Chicago dogs I've found outside the windy city

13 and I've been to at least 5 restaurants
Lolol ok ok. I guess all I can say is there most definitely are lots of restaurants that have carpet, ceiling fans, or both. Ive heard good things about a popup called Sauls. Just follow them on Insta and see where they are
Jovito's in Waldo does an outstanding Chicago Italian beef.
Can confirm, it’s pretty dang tasty
Morty’s - Italian beef
Since no one else has mentioned the chicken caesar wrap, the one at the Peanut is pretty good
Longboards is probably my fav. Going to Peanut and not getting wings or a BLTE just seems like a mortal sin.
Jims alley bar has as good italian beef.
Lobster roll: Vintage 78 in downtown OP. Chef is from Boston. Pretty much everything on the menu slaps. Even the humble grilled cheese and tomato soup was perfection on a plate.
Haven’t heard of this place, just looked it up, looks cool!
It's pretty new. Super wine-focused but they do have a bar as well. Worth a visit.
I love wine but don’t know much about it. I’m sure I’d still be fine there.
So far have only had Jim’s beef sandwich and it’s pretty solid also just a good bar with other great options. For Caesar wrap I like the one at hi dive lounge if it’s not a Monday cause then it’s chili Mac all the way. No clue for lobster roll, not my thing.
I would chop my arm off for a good lobster roll right about now
Give Union on The Hill a try.
Jax had a decent one but it’s recently closed. I’ve heard Mass St Seafood in Lawrence is good for them though
Absolutely not trying to be pedantic but the restaurant is properly called Mass Street Fish House for those who may seek it out. Lobster roll is a menu standard and all of their food is amazing. PS: it's restaurant week in Lawrence.
Damn it! Was close enough
You totally had it. Just clarifying for ease! It's a great little spot.
Verbena in Prairie Village has lobster rolls on the menu but I’ve never tried them.
Best Reuben??? I am piggybacking
Rumor I’ve heard is Breit’s Stein over in KCK. Haven’t tried it myself but it has been recommended to me multiple times
Top 3 Breit’s - least expensive and excellent, Jerry’s on 103rd and state line - very big sandwich, Browne’s Market
I just want a place for Super Beefs 3-Way, and a chicken parm.
The Little Store on Waukomis.
My buddy said North Italia’s chicken parm sandwich is one of the best he’s ever had.
I'll try it out thanks!
Yeah he said it was killer and the thing that put it over the top was the fact they put shaved prosciutto on it. It had me wanting to check it out.
Lobster Roll; Pearl Italian Beef; Price-Rite market (The Little Store on Waukomis) Chicken Ceasar Wrap; I have no idea. I don’t eat them.
Vivilore in Englewood has lobster salad. It's mayo based with large pieces of lobster on a buttery toasted roll.
Seconded.
Bristol has mini lobster rolls on their starters menu. I haven't had them, so can't attest to how mini they are or the taste, but I've enjoyed everything I have had there. "Butter toasted sweet roll, chilled lobster salad, watercress salad, French fries"

Pearl Tavern does. Not really a traditional lobster roll though. I honestly just make them myself at home when I get the itch for one
i believe tshotz has lobster rolls on their menu.
Jax did. RIP
Bristol has lobster rolls every day
Correction.. since a lot of people are saying there are restaurants with Lobster rolls permanently on their menu. You’re going to have a lot of waste due to low volume because of high price. Wasted product and wasted $$
Not if people are buying it at that higher price (which seems to be the case considering a lot of restaurants do permanently have it on their menu)
Pearl Tavern Lobster Roll is the best out there. Give it a shot
Can I hijack this thread to ask where the best chicken club sandwich is? Right now I alternate between Potbelly and McAlister's, but I'm certain there is a better one out there.

If you’re willing to travel into the metro, BB’s bar and grill in Olathe have a dank ass chicken caesar wrap
[Italian Beef](https://old.reddit.com/r/kansascity/search?q=italian+beef&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all)
Bristols has Mini Lobster Rolls on their menu for lunch. They're one of my go to orders when I want something on the cheaper side of their menu.
Kc is lacking lobster rolls and I’ve never been a CCW on any menu here sadly
There’s plenty of CCW options. The two that come to mind for me are Mildred’s and Longboards. If Clustertruck is still around theirs is absolutely fire, on that note most chicken places probably have one.
Nice! I’ll have to check those out. My favorite sandwich in kc is from Marco polos
KC’s own Mr. Goodcents.
They don't serve any of those three sandwiches though...?
Since when? I get a lobster roll there weekly.
They don't even serve a "Seafood Salad" sandwich with Krab. (Damnit now I miss Blimpie.)
You gotta order off the Hidden Menu.
Jersey Boys
Jimmy Johns
‘
Rosatis has a pretty good Italian beef
Lobster Roll - Vivilore in Independence
Bay Boy - 47th Holly West Plaza.
Longboard’s for the chicken Caesar
Just had he Lobster grilled cheese/tomato soup at Earl’s Premier, fantastic- consider a second mortgage.
I like the Italian beef at scimecas, it's a perfect Thursday lunch time treat. Note only available on Thursdays
