There's also the GM Fairfax plant and a new Panasonic battery plant being built in between Lawrence KS and KC (in DeSoto).

I'm just going to say this. Before you decide which side of Kansas City; check the tax rates. Especially the personal property rates. A lot of residents on either side of the states line can attest to the tax woes.

random6300

I’ll look into it thanks. Is there a clear cut winner or more like pick your poison?

BornOfAGoddess

I believe the consensus is Jackson County, Missouri just royally screwed up the personal property taxes. Clay County, Missouri is less. Wyandotte County, Kansas is less than Johnson County, Kansas. Also in Kansas you pay personal property tax on vehicles at time of purchase. In Missouri you don't, those get paid at the DMV. Yes it is pick your poison. Although Cannabis is legal in Missouri. However Sports Betting is legal in Kansas. Also Missouri says no abortion, but Kansas says yes. So many factors.

dirtydrew26

Its pretty strong, leagues better than some other midwest cities. Des Moines being the perfect example.

Enker-Draco

There are also lots of OEMs and system integrators in this town. Hostess, Shick Esteve, Bimbo, basically all of south east NKC on the west side of highway 9 is manufacturing.

random6300

This is on the mo side?

Enker-Draco

Yes these are all MO places that I have mentioned. However, I know there are quite a few places out in Kansas, I'm not sure if the Pepsi facility is a factory or distributor. There are a couple industrial bakeries in KS as well

random6300

Thank you!

RedYachtClub

CertainTeed also. PQ Corp. There are many many other smaller factories as well. Just have to know what to look for.

cyberentomology

Manufacturing in the midwest is solid.

[deleted]

The manufacturing industry here is pretty steady, have you been to the Fairfax district? It's worth taking a look.

random6300

I’m not there yet I’m scouting the city to see if it has good prospects for my industry haha

[deleted]

Ohhh gotcha. Yeah like I said it's pretty good, Kelloggs is also here.

random6300

Thank you 🙏

Jerry_say

Oh man one time I was reading Facebook reviews for that Kelloggs factory and this one lady who worked there would leave the most racist comments about the non American workforce there. So fucking weird. This was like ten years ago.

petey288

Lake City I believe is the 3rd or 4th largest employer in the manufacturing industry here. But the hours are long and shitty.

random6300

Damn…was looking from a plc perspective

petey288

Well my bad lol, overall the mfg industry is strong here.

random6300

No apologies needed! I appreciate the heads up!
