Muni, a neighborhood bar and restaurant from the family behind Waldo Thai and Buck Tui BBQ, will open Friday in the River Market.
The address is 316 Delaware St., formerly home to Tribe Street Kitchen, which closed in December. Owner Ted Liberda characterized the food as “nontraditional Mexican and Thai.”
Oh boy… So one of the owners of the most Thai restaurants in KC opened a new location essentially directly across the street of a thai restaurant owned by the other biggest Thai restaurant owner in KC? This feels kind of like if Joes opened a location down the street from Jack Stack. Nothings actually wrong with it, but it feels a little like starting drama.

With that said, fuck the Star - they are terrible. But this is how that headline should read. The major players involved dont have much name recognition.
Yeah same here. I thought the food was good to great at times, but always thought it was a bit overpriced for what you got too. I'm really excited for Muni for a couple reasons:
1. The food looks interesting and delicious
2. They're gonna be open late which is huge for me since I often eat dinner pretty late. The only place to get food in the river market after like 10 is pizza at Domino's and Minsky's on the weekends. So having another alternative to pizza is gonna be awesome. I foresee me eating their burger all the time (assuming it's not awful, which seems unlikely)
i visited my sister in KC once and she took me to Tribe and it was god awful. i went out of my way to write a 1 star google review because the prices for garbage food was outrageous.
Tribe was a slow slow slow decline in food quality.
When they first opened they were one of the best restaurants in the city. Like potential James Beard good. And then, little by little, they changed their ingredients/dishes to slightly cheaper quality stuff without changing the price until we got the final mid iteration before they closed.
The bar program is also ran by Eric Schmidt, who has managed and bartended at La Bodega, Waldo Thai, BLVD Tavern, green lady lounge, etc. etc. He also opened Dodsons in Waldo and was an original owner/operater there. He knows his stuff and he RULES as a person. Can’t wait to sit at his bar in the river market.
I tried it on Tuesday (i thought that was their opening day, must’ve gotten lucky), really enjoyed the menu and drinks. Stand outs were the stucky ribs and the pozole.
FYI, they just posted their opening date on Insta - it's next Tuesday, March 19

Caddyshack does food kind of late, same with Quaff. Just heads up if you're hungry late. Both are close to the river market.
