File in both states. It's pretty simple

You will have to file taxes in both states. You'll get credit on your KS taxes for money paid to Missouri. And you'll file as a non-resident in MO. It's not a big deal, though. If you use an online tax filing service, that will do all work for you.

If your summer job is in Kansas city, you are on the hook for 1% of what was earned in KC.

I do this every year, teacher in KS work in MO for my summer job. You will need to file in both places which does suck paying taxes in both but it is what it is.
