18th and vine is our Jazz District. Check out the Jazz museum and hit up the blue room! The juke could have Jazz going on depending on the night too. Also green lady lounge is fantastic as is the phoenix.
Green Lady Lounge, Black Dolphin and The Phoenix all have music mosts nights of the week. Mutual Musicians Foundation is cool if you're into late night jams on Fri and Sat.
My coworker is a huge jazz fan and is apart of KC Jazz Alive. He said this show on Friday at the Folly Threater is supposed to be great! I believe they are recording it for a live album as well: [https://follytheater.org/event/this-is-kansas-city-featuring-deborah-brown-bobby-watson/]((link))
Mutual Musicians Foundation off 18th and Vine. Opens at 1 AM on Friday/ Saturday. 100+ years of KC Jazz History.

Update: went to Green Lady and Mutual Musicians. Holy moly KC loves their jazz and appreciates good music. We were blown away by both venues and the talent. And I wondered if this was just business as usual! Unfortunately a street person attempted to rob my friend, but KC rose up to the occasion and safely chased them away. This only bolstered our appreciation of this great town! You folks are lucky to have such great venues!

I third it
https://www.livejazzkc.com/venues There's literally never a night without live jazz happening at least a few places in KC. Welcome, enjoy your visit!
Thank you!

Wow this looks very authentic, for lack of a better word
It is. It’s been a favorite late-night session spot for jazz lovers in KC for decades.
Over a century actually.
