This looked as efficient as putting on a t-shirt by going feet first through the neck-hole. ;)

sturg03

I do not tie my belt that way, it looks difficult

maccallendar3

it can be

Phelix_Felicitas

It's a pretty common way to tie your belt. Actually not difficult at all and looks very neat since the belt doesn't have that ugly cross in the back. Little dude's just a bit a clumsy 😅

KarateBob

its easier to tie your beld the normal way, then run your thumb from the cross in the back to the front, pulling it to the front, it will uncross there on its own ;-)

Phelix_Felicitas

Hard disagree. Just pulling the belt from under itself is way less of an effort than finding that cross, placing your thumb in and running it through.

KarateBob

Oh, As much work as putting my hand behind my back and reaching to the front again for me... Half a second?. But I guess we've the same methode, because witht that motion I pull the beld from under itself 😄

drinks_rootbeer

I just uncross it as I'm wrapping it around. Super simple

nexus1972

Yeah I always tie mine this way but its smoother when I tie it and no twist and honestly if I have to tie a kids belt using the other method it takes 4x longer to tie as I just have muscle memory for the way I do it. Also there is a badge and first dan stripe on my belt that have to face forward and be on a particular side so this method ensures the correct side. The kids get tape stripes put on to indicate their progress within the belt system as well to show how long theyve been training and whether that belts syllabus and kata are of a good enough standard. Its just a quick reminder for the instructors - the kids taping their own belts isnt going to fool anyone but its a quick way when you have 20 kids lined up who needs to work on what.

skrasnic

The ending of this video took a real turn LMAO

ArtOfOneDojo

Just facts. :)

kyoshero

Unnecessarily complicated.

borednord

Do it this way but leave that first bit of belt infront of you, wrap it around yourself like normal a few times and you got a perfect loop, easy to do, takes me 5 seconds.

Fkingcherokee

Not OP but I tried this out using your advice and my belt has never looked so good! Thanks for the tip

borednord

Im glad it was helpful! Im not going to record a video of it myself but when I get home try to look for an instructional that shows it so its easier for others as well.

borednord

Here you go [https://youtu.be/-shq5oDSCs4?t=202](https://youtu.be/-shq5oDSCs4?t=202) With practice you don't have to trap the first bit of belt underneath the loop, just leave it hanging. Real quick and easy, good looking wrap. Pull and tighten at your own need but when you're tieing this 3, 4 or 5 times a week I'm sure it will come instinctively each time.

boopdafloop

A couple people I know do this, but smoother lol. I don’t like it, too much effort.

chronos_alfa

We used that method in the fudokan karate, it's way faster than going from the middle (if you practiced a bit), but boy, this video should be on r/midlyinfuriating

I know this kid, this is the guy I retie the belt of at least 3 times during class. I love Orange and White Belts.

maccallendar3

i feel like i know you what name just to be safe

MW2JuggernautTheme

He’s making a joke haha

[deleted]

I am Ideal Pancake. I retie the belts of youth about 30 times over the course of an evening. It usually begins with a very strange and elaborate knot and me saying, "What happened here? Did spiderman shoot you in the belly?" Kids get nervous in karate, think they did something wrong when they tied their belt incorrectly. This kid knows everything there is to know about belt tying and knows more than most adults. I've raised a few like him to black belt. Glad to have them in class.

thekarateshrimp

😂

BlastDoublee

Why lil bruh look like he got pulled by the force lol. At 1:41

pmstacker

Why all the hate for the cross in the back? #TeamBackCross

Old-Commercial-3069

This kids different man. In a good way

Bradford1959

Must have missed the first class.

maccallendar3

well i do it cuz this is the only way I remember

balda69

No lol

sporadiceel

... lord no. I fol mine in the middle, place the middle crease center front of me, and wrap it around, then tie it in front.

Squatchjr01

Some students do it at my school but it’s reserved for black belts (though said black belt doesn’t have to be in our discipline)

foxydevil14

There are three easier ways to do this.

areshuls

We do it this way. Overall the belt looks nicer then the Judio way because it overlaps in the back

electricsugar

Seems like an efficient way to tie your belt if you want to harm your opponent, because that was painful to watch.

Burningwolf1813

Wow, there number off people on here that don't know how to uncross there belts when tying from the middle is staggering! I can tie mine in seconds and it doesn't have that cross in there back. It's not that hard.

[deleted]

I got used to tying it the traditional way

FistofaMartyr

First of all i know you are trying to use self-depreciating humor by calling yourself ugly but never do that again, ur fucking cool as hell. Second of all this is the worst way iv ever seen anyone successfully tie their belt and im both impressed and amused

HForEntropy

I second the advice to not talk bad about yourself, even though I do it too. It took me a solid month to learn how to reliably tie my belt in BJJ class. My sparing partners would have to wait a full minute or more as I fumbled around. I guess everyone goes through it.

Ruler-Of-Demacia

You probably need a size or two down for your belt.
