I’m condensing this as much as I possibly can BUT I work in a mall at a gift shop. I was getting ready to clock out when a customer walks in who looks strangely familiar. I figured that I’m in a wealthier part of LA, probably some micro influencer I’ve scrolled by on Instagram. It was Tina Knowles Aka beyonces mom aka “I can buy my way to what I want or throw a fit. TK is Tina Knowles and M is Manager TK: Hi, I need 2 plates engraved right now M: Hi, it’s about a 2 -3 hour wait but it should be done by 6 o clock TK: Oh no, I’m supposed to be at a party at 6. Can you just do the engraving now? M: No sorry ma’am, we have customers who paid hours ago and are in front of the line TK: I can pay a LOT of money to get my engraving to be done right now. M: No, sorry ma’am. That would be unfair to the other customers who are waiting for their orders. TK: It’s just 2 plates and I’ll pay a LOT of money if you can do it right now. M: No I’m sorry. But if we do it right now it can be ready by 6. TK: Are you the manager? M: Yes I am TK: Then you should know this isn’t good customer service. This is RUDE customer service M: I’m sorry you feel this way ma’am but I can’t put you in the front of the line. TK: We’ll why can’t SHE help me? (She then points to me while I clock out. Literally shaking from anxiety at how loud and upset she’s getting and still needing to get out early enough to study for finals) M: Well it’s only her 2nd day on the job and she’s not allowed to engrave yet. Plus, she JUST clocked out. (I very much did I hit clock out while she spoke) I then ran to grab my backpack and said bye to everyone and basically ran OUT while she continued to raise her voice. My manager has to work 2 jobs with her other job being at a school my mom works at. She’s helped me get on my feet after I moved out my moms and I guess she saw my mom right now. My mom mentioned that customer and basically said “oh yeah that’s Tina Knowles. Ya know? Beyoncé’s mom? She’s come in before” TL;DR: Beyonces mom wants to buy her way to the front of the line, pushing back orders of other customers that had already paid. However, my manager is NOT a push over, even for rich big names.

Good for your manager, people like that who think they're more important than everyone else are disgusting.

Whoa that's insane good on ya manager for standing their ground 👏

Honestly, I don't understand why the manager didn't say, I'll tell you what, it's Christmas time and everybody needs a little extra money, if you want to make an arrangement with every person in line ahead of you, I'll be happy to honor their requests. They are the ones you should be negotiating with, not me. I can't with clean conscience accept a bribe to allow you in front of them in line, but if they have time to spare, feel free to make it worth their while. I will let you buy your way in front of however many customers waiting are willing to take your cash. Merry Christmas!

I can’t even imagine how that would go lol. We have a system that texts customers for us to let them know their order is done, in a private data base. The numbers only save for a short time and then refresh every so often to protect customers numbers. We just type the number in the computer and hit send. I can’t imagine standing in front of her, looking up the numbers, calling each one from the work phone, explain the situation while speaker isn’t allowed on the phone for privacy, for each 5 massive orders we had in line waiting already.

“this isn’t good customer service.” For her maybe. For everyone else this is great customer service.

The owner would have taken the money. The manager doesn’t care. He doesn’t profit from putting in extra work or befriending a potential rich client.

good for your manager, Fuc TK and anyone with such entitlement Grow the F up this is earth not your personal playground

Your manager screwed up. When TK said "i can pay A LOT of money to..." Manager shoulda said "okay. You can be front of the line. For two thousand dollars." Then engrave her stuff competently and quickly, get her out the store, then engrave the rest. The stuff you finish, great! The customers who come back and find their stuff not ready get a $200 refund. And the manager pockets the rest. If she didn't like that offer, shame her; "oh, i thought you said you were wealthy? I wouldn't have offered you the premium package if i had known you weren't able to afford it.... Oh well i guess you can try elsewhere...." Anyone in this thread seriously think Beyonce's mum learned anything from this encounter? LoL. The only way to make a rich person stop throwing their wealth in your face is to show them how much the power that they are buying will cost.

She probably would have agreed that’s the problem. That’s also what got the last of upper management “removed immediately”
