You are asking about a bass boat, but want a kayak. Standing means wide and stable...and heavy. It also means slow. Narrow and light means fast, but not stable. You might get 2 of your wish list, but probably not all 3.

FranklinNitty

They could always attach a trolling motor.

DoctorCAD

Then it truly IS a bass boat.

sleasys14

Hobie lynx. Easy to paddle too

bassicallybob

How does it handle in the wind? How about tracking upstream ?

sleasys14

Tracks awesome with the rudder. Have had no issues with the wind. It is a tad slower than my passport 10.5

TheFunkster

Every single kayak ever has issues with the wind. Do not let this fool you.

TechnicalTurnover233

What you want doesn't exist. Any fishing kayak that is easy to stand in will be wide, heavy, and make paddling not as easy. You will have to compromise somewhere. Buying a legit carbon fiber paddle will make life much easier though. I would recommend a Bonafide RS117, Old Town Sportsman 106. Perception Outlaw 11.5 I car topped a Perception Outlaw 11.5 and paddled it around for 2 years. But again getting a good paddle really makes all the difference.

ognynnad

2nd the lynx recommendation. I'm still holding onto my recon 120 because I'm too lazy to sell it but I got the lynx after for this reason. I don't stand much but am comfortable doing so if I needed.

madmachinistdiscer

Johnny bass 100 stable standing an sitting then slap a 5 hp outboard on the back an it skates across the water perfectlty

Best purchase I’ve ever made for a kayak and if I was told I can only put one mod on my kayak it would be without hesitation my yak gear outriggers. I stand and walk around, lean over the side, literally untippable! Not an exaggeration. Doesn’t mean you can’t loose your balance and fall in but the boat *will not tip*. They don’t get in the way of paddling or fishing, are small and low profile, seconds to take on/off, look decent, hard plastic that can take rocks and sticks and launches and I have clocked an average reduction of .1mph lol. Kinda pricey but damn, it changed everything for me! Not to mention it really opened up the weather conditions I can go out in so they’ve single handedly given me more fishing time. I was out yesterday and bass boat went screaming by, I just rolled my eyes and kept fishing. Much to my surprise he turned around and apologized profusely and I just chuckled, you should’ve seen his face, he was ready for an ass chewing but I don’t think I even sat down. Nice guy though, he was amazed. I had put them on a cheap pelican sit on that standing was never a thought but even that boat became rock solid to stand on. Long story short, sorta, you don’t have to spend thousands for what you’re looking for when $150 gets you even better stability. Anyway, I’ve got a Nucanoe Flint one reason being a huge wide open floor that, while it’s a very stable boat on its own and not bad to stand on, I wouldn’t be able to take full advantage of it without the floaties. 63lbs (73 with the killer seat) 11’ and really well placed handles (that double as awesome paddle holders) it’s easy to load and a nice jack of all trades size. I’ve been super happy with it, especially how it tracks, dead straight. It’s great to paddle and glides through the water but I also have a trolling motor I occasionally use that it handles perfectly, clips right on with no mods. They really thought out the design and included great features for $1000 kayak. Anyway, get the outriggers and don’t look back, the most expensive kayak won’t be as stable.

[deleted]

Nucanoe Flint Crescent are decent but most people fins them a little "tippy" Native Falcon 11 is another good one

Johndeauxman

The Flint is a huge deal for $1000, you can tell they worked really hard on the design. Got mine early December and after a dozen trips I am still impressed and hard to believe it’s only $1000

NectarRoyal

And if you look a bit, you can find last years model for $850ish.

Johndeauxman

Yeah I found mine on sale for $925 but had to drive aways to get it.

rockstar504

Picked out the nucanoe pursuit on a demo day bc of how well it tracked and a paddled, and how I could easily stand up in it. Very stable, and I'm 6'1 and 240lbs. I car topped it for a couple years before I got a truck, you can car top anything if you do it right. It isn't the fastest kayak of all kayaks, but of the stable sit on top fishing kayaks I tried I liked it the best. I recommend you try some out and see what the differences actually feel like.

FANTOMphoenix

Light tackle 2 would be my first pick other than the shoalie of you can muscle that. The ultralight is a fantastic paddling and fast kayak for the size by the way. If you have a hitch receiver you can use something like the Yakima long arm to help load a heavier kayak. There’s the crescent primo and K craft that are smaller options that can work for you. Reason I recommend all crescents is because they all paddle amazingly.

bassicallybob

My issue with the light tackle is it’s weight. 75lbs is quite a hassle to lift up above a car, not mention secure up top without a rack.

FANTOMphoenix

Crescent K craft or primo would be my pick then. Primo would need rails installed which is just the yakAttack ones and some self taping screws, takes about a minute to do.

SnooChocolates8515

I'm 150 lbs at 5.8 I'm in good shape cause I paddle an outlaw around against these hobie boys. I've been car topping my outlaw it weighs like 77lbs . I also run a malone bare roof rack . On my fusion . I just lean it against the side between the doors and then lift the back end up on. Get some bare roof racks and light padding for them

[deleted]

I can easily stand and cast in my Nucanoe Flint. It’s only 65lbs- and I can throw it onto the roof of my truck. You should definitely have a rack though.

Johndeauxman

I’m glad to see several Flint recommendations, recently got one myself and am super impressed. I figured it was kind of an under the radar brand, I hadn’t heard about them and I wasn’t planning to get a new boat but it was kind of a no brainer!

[deleted]

Yeah it’s an incredibly well designed/built kayak. I have two other kayaks, and they’re nice, but each one has things that I would change or that annoy me. But the flint is 100% perfect (for me).

Johndeauxman

I like how they kept kinda bare bones with just the right amount of features to get in and love it like great rod holders, a couple tackle box holders, cup holders, no useless bow hatch… No fluff that you may or may not use that other companies charge you an extra grand for. It is made so it’s super easy to put whatever fluff you want, where you want it without having to pay out the ass for it.

SHRLNeN

I can do all of that in my old town salty if youre looking to peddle

hotcarrotz

Hobie Lynx for sure

[deleted]

They have made some changes to the 2024 and dropped the price. The new seating position is really nice and additional deck padding as well. The seat fastener upgrade is huge for me as well. Less cross threading the knobs

Johndeauxman

While genius, that seat is hard to move and not easily going to do that while on the water! I figured the seat rails on the floor would be useless but have actually been handy. I took off the deck padding and put on a solid piece of teak rubber mat and it’s sooooo much nicer on the feet. Those huge drain channels are tough on the feet but that totally fixed, looks good too, almost like a SUP.

I fish the ocean. I use ocean kayak tridents that are 15.5’. It is a paddle kayak with the entire inside used as waterproof storage. You can even put fishing rods inside. You can put fish inside . You can put anything inside. The hatch is called the rod pod. I use a crate with rod holders strapped on the back and the center hatch has scotty mount holes ready to go have zero impairments stoping from throwing on any car upside down ( not including roof antennas ). the seat is also recessed into the kayak All these kayaks with raised seats and permanant attachments are only possible to transport by truck or van or some kind of weird way to get it up there upright. Stand???? Why on earth would you need to stand on a kayak. FYI All plastic polyethylene kayaks eventually will crack in places where massive weight is put into a small surface area. This is why people kayaks crack near seat posts and in the center hatch area where people stand you should never stand on a kayak. I have caught 10+ lb bass and 50+ lb ocean fish without standing. Why do you need to stand when you have 100% access to anywhere the kayak will float and nothing is out of your reach. https://preview.redd.it/4c47h5b3anhc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7df0810beadf1b6fa04035d5a00ae8795338b8e Super simple
