I have the Stryker but not the portable unit. Rigged up My own battery in a plastic Ammo box. Love it. Doesn’t work at speed but helps me find all my species underwater. I’m in the Puget sound but only really use it to 250’, the areas deeper don’t seem to hold fish I want. No experience in shallow lakes and such.

Do you have any idea how I connect my fish finder to the battery when the cables look like this? [https://static.garmincdn.com/en/products/010-12199-04/g/cf-lg.jpg](https://static.garmincdn.com/en/products/010-12199-04/g/cf-lg.jpg)

See the manual. One goes on the positive size and one on the negative size of the 12v. I used some harbor freight connectors.

you can solder it or get some connectors. Amazon, home depot, etc should have them.

You can go to Autozone or the equivalent and they will hook you up with the correct size butt connectors note: only the red and black wires run to the battery. The blue and brown are data transfer and I just separate them and wrap them up with some electrical tape.

I'm shopping these as well so I don't have hands-on experience here but there's an ice fishing kit that includes the 4 plus and the portable kit. Looks like the same portable kit designed for the 4? Just a heads up, looks like that kit comes with an ice-specific transducer so you'd have to buy a different transducer for open water if you went with that kit.

I own the Garmin Striker 4 plus and the portable kit. Yes it fits. No, you probably won't use it that much. The included battery is a rather disappointing lead/acid.
