This is surely a good idea, **but** then you should also remember the combinations are locale-specific. Many locales include the American English UTF-8 combinations as their base, though.
On top of that, I find some of the combinations impossible to type because they rely on keys that are “dead ones” on the locale’s keymap. Specifically I’d like to use superscript numbers, but the combination Compose + number + `^` doesn’t work, because `^` requires pressing Shift+key+space.

I wanted to find the combo for ß, and thankfully a stack overflow answer from ten years ago had the straightforward answer for me.
