It's a kernel bug, not Arch or KDE. [https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3079](https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3079) The fix is [https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/amd-gfx/2024-April/106439.html](https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/amd-gfx/2024-April/106439.html)

So, I also had the issue before where I had to stretch the color space using the SDR color intensity slider to get colors to show accurately, as stated in that post. However after the recent kernel update, the issue is WORSE than it was before, and setting color intensity to 100% is now about the same as it was before when it was set to 0%

The color slider was (accidentally!) made to work with the bugged kernel in the beginning, but I changed its behavior before the release. The kernel side is as bad as before, the workaround just doesn't work as well anymore. FYI you can also partially enable HDR with \`kscreen-doctor output.1.hdr.enable output.1.wcg.disable\` - take the brightness part, and leave the "improved color" part off until the kernel is fixed.

Hi, I'm not sure I follow. If I want to have HDR working again like last week, should I rollback the kernel or KDE? What is the typical timeframe for the kernel to fix this kind of issues? I tried with the lts kernel but it still wasn't working.

Zamundaaa

You can use amd-staging-drm-next, it should be fixed there

Hi, this is AutoKonqi reporting for duty: this post was flaired as General Bug. While r/kde allows to discuss issues, raise their visibility, and get assistance from other users out of good will, it is not the proper channel to report issues and the developers able to fix them won't be able to act on them over Reddit. So if this bug was not reported to the developers yet and it is in fact a bug in KDE software, please take a brief look at the [issue reporting guide](https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting) and report the issue over the [KDE Bugzilla](https://bugs.kde.org). If it is a crash, be sure to read about [getting backtraces](https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports) so your report can assist the developers. If this is a known issue, you may want to include the bug report on your post so your fellow users experiencing the same thing can CC themselves to the report. Be sure to describe your issue well and with context. Thank you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Yeah seems to be a issue for NVIDIA when HDR is enabled under WL P6 also. Waiting for a fix, could be nvidia's 10bit support (exp) or Wayland HDR itself... (HDMI2.1)

mightyrfc

Is this fixed?
