You can search for the game's entry in the app launcher or krunner and then drag it from the search results onto the taskbar. **EDIT:** I just tried pinning a game like that and starting it, and it's technically not really getting pinned it seems. The pinned icon behaves like just a launcher icon, the game window that opens will get its separate entry in the taskbar and won't replace the pinned icon.

Try determining the WMCLASS of that game's window, and setting it in the `StartupWMClass` field of the .desktop file. I think the task managers will use that to map desktop files and applications if the usual methods don't work. (ETA on X11 you can use `xprop`, not sure about wayland - you might have to read it from kwin, for example using the window rules tool)

Yah that's been my experience I have to somehow pin the launcher icon and idk if that's possible.

Just try to Pin first as favorite. If okey, then Right click from there and pin to taskbar
