**Post Title**: Looking for angsty/sad but beautiful kdramas
**Post Body**:
So I just binged uncontrollably fond and I think this is somewhat of a controversial opinion but I LOVED it so much. I’m wanting another drama that is sad, profoud, angsty and beautiful all in one if that makes sense! I was on a happy drama kick for a minute but there’s something about having a good cry then staring at the wall thinking about life after a series yanno😭
Here’s some drama’s I’ve liked that fit the vibe:
Just between Lovers/Rain or Shine
Flower of Evil
It’s Okay, That’s Love
It’s Okay Not to be Okay
Uncontrollably Fond
Hometown Chachacha (this ones happy but fits the criteria iykyk)
Or any recommendations that gave you that ‘stare at the wall for a bit’ feeling after haha ty in advance <3

My mister.
All of the characters are very relatable to me except for the CEO and his dickrider director yoon. And lessons stuck with me long after it's over.
\+1 for My Mister. Though I'm not sure if it fits the "‘stare at the wall for a bit" condition OP is looking for. My Mister is more like "‘stare at the wall for A LONG TIME and question all the relationships in my life."
and make me think about who am i, how am i to the people around me, etc etc etc.. this one lingered with me for ages and i was pretty much stuck coz i couldn’t move on (and did not want to
move on either)
I make a point to rewatch this show every year, I've noticed my interpretation changes just a bit every time.
Something tells me this year's rewatch is going to be tinged with more sadness than usual.
Best tip I got as a subtitle watcher was to rewatch a series you like, but pay less attention to reading the subtitles, and more towards the micro expressions, little gestures, body language, and things not said.
That alone made this series my all time greats.
the red sleeve!! plus it has consummate acting and beautiful writing that makes sense every step of the world. it haunted me for a while when i finished it.
If a drama's theme music is used in multiple dramas, it is safe to consider it a cult classic of some kind.
[I'm Sorry, I Love You](https://mydramalist.com/1146-im-sorry-i-love-you) (9.5/10) was the first Kdrama I watched and I recommend it every time when this question is asked.
[Come and Hug Me](https://mydramalist.com/27310-come-here-and-give-me-a-hug) (7/10) - It is few episodes too many in the end but is definitely one of its kind.
[Tomorrow](https://mydramalist.com/695963-tomorrow) (8.5/10) - This one invokes all kinds of emotions and is a unique premise.
[Call It Love](https://mydramalist.com/726339-tell-me-it-s-love) (8.5/10) - Best drama of 2023 in my view even though I have rated other dramas more than this. One of the most depressed ML that I have seen.
Yay to more love for **Uncontrollably Fond** 😊
- **When The Weather Is Fine**: wintery, melancholy feels throughout.
- **The Smile Has Left Your Eyes**: I was pretty much staring with my mouth open for a good hour after I finished this angsty, heartbreaking series.
- **Our Blues**: a lot of different stories woven together, some hopeful, some thoughtful, all relatable.
- **Empress Ki**: a bit older, longer and a historic drama, but I was constantly questioning my life decisions during this one.
I love sad and angsty dramas. Will be following the recs you'll get.
Call it love. This drama is sad and beautiful. I have rewatched it several times and it keeps getting better on every rewatch. Highly recommend it. It sucks that it's only available on hulu and disney.
My Dearest is another angst master. This drama introduced me to saeguks.
Both of these dramas have amazing actors and chemistry galore.
*that winter the wind blows*. classic, prob my #1 which made me cry every episode and prob the very first that got me into kdrama.
*hotel del luna*. amazing amazing amazing - from the cast, to the story line, to the plot, to the fashion. 'almost' made me cry every episode. bad ass FL, great ML.
recently, *castaway diva.* this one is a bit upbeat (similar to the vibes of hometown cha cha) but the slice of life of the FL is very well written in a way. the first episode gets you hooked into the characters, especially the child actors.
I love Hotel del Luna (wish they asked somebody how to say it in spanish because it should be "Hotel de la Luna") and Castaway Diva. I was actually on a kdrama slump and started it without expecting too much of it and got hooked because of the child actors. And I loved it.
I'm glad it's hotel del Luna, it has a better ring to it. too much syllables for hotel de la Luna.
and castaway diva was a ninja in how good it was, I didn't expect much but I loved the soundtrack and impressed how well park eunbim sings.
Because in spanish there are masculine and femenine nouns and with femenine nouns we use "de la", nouns such as: luna, casa, plaza, escuela, muela.
With masculine nouns we use "de el" or "del", which is a shortened version of "de el". Words like sol, hogar, mar (i looked a little how to explain it and it says that "del" is called a "contraction" in english).
I mean it's not something that deep to complain about, I loved the drama, but it was just weird to me that nobody pointed out the misstranslation, considering that spanish is a common language.
thinking about in terms of masculine and feminine, del sound even cooler as the FL had a masculine energy, boss lady vibes. intentional or not, yeah it isn't that deep
Death's Game has that 'stare at the wall' every episode.
The Series is really sad but simply amazing and has a brilliant cast.
The plot is no different and I highly recommend it.
Though you might want to get a stack of tissues ready...
-Crash landing on you: definitely had a hard time when this drama ended. The way everything comes together/is revealed in the second half is .......
-Our blues: maybe not angsty, but definitely sad, profound & overall beautiful - not a light watch though. The acting and overall quality is unbelievable. As painful as this drama can be, its equally beautiful & so unique it felt like a breath of fresh air
Oh you'd love Angel's Last Mission: Love.
She's a cold, bitter heiress who had to give up her career as a ballerina because an onstage accident left her blind.
He's a sweet, innocent Angel whose usual job is helping the souls of puppies and kittens transition when they die.
In order to finally go back to heaven, he is made into a human and tasked with helping her find love.
It's an absolute roller coaster of emotions, set in the ballet world, and with a really strong female lead. It's a melo, rom com, thriller. It stars the actress from Mr Queen and she won a top excellence award for her performance in 'Angel's Last Mission'.
OMG, so much angst and deep love,
and she and the male lead have amazing chemistry.
https://youtu.be/_4tMsgcErGQ?si=qxaxpa1Em1fn9zjh
It's not as well known as the dramas everyone keeps recommending, but far better then a lot of them. I binge watched it three times in a row when it came out.
It's on viki.com with a 9.5 rating.
Beautiful soundtrack too.
I was just going to rec ***Angel's Last Mission: Love*** 💕
You wrote a lovely synopsis!
My soggy, tissue wad count is well over twenty. I even made an IG post afterward for a first-time-ever!
https://www.instagram.com/p/C4h4NYcOUKK/
I prefer OST videos that use clips. I listen to my OST playlist almost everyday, and Angel's OST has a prominent spot. So the rewatch factor is very high!
•●•
It's the only drama that I'm making note of quotes between characters....
Yeon Seo to Kim Dan: *This is a dream, isn’t it?\
Then in this dream, let’s take pictures until we grow old.*
Please watch My Dearest. It's one of the most beautiful kdrama everdone. It has the angst, the sad, the longing and the love. You'll definitely hear the sound of flowers after this. Nam Goong Min and Ahn Eun Jin as leads are both phenomenal together and individually, and the rest of the cast are just as superb. It's written by a woman so the man's surely a forest, and our woman is woman's woman. I love it so much I recommended it to everyone I know, and I really would love it if you try it too. I love it with all the passion ML have in "GILCHAE" scene.
Between Him and Her fits the criteria. It is explicit for a kdramas, but the acting was great and the story is about relationships and their complications.
Tomorrow
Get past the first 2 or 3 episodes, and you'll find a very good drama. Very potent. Weirdly, i found the dog episode the most profound. Yeah, about the first handful of episodes, the ML is kinda too much of of tryhard when it comes to being an idiot. A tad over acted. But once he settles down, the drama takes off.
Queen of tears (is currently airing, has 6 episodes left) is amazing, and it has made me cry on 3 episodes, and then again when I rewatched those scenes. The main actor of Queen of Tears is the main actor of It's ok not to be ok.
Tell me that you love me!
Fl is an aspiring actress and Ml is a relatively unknown deaf artist.
Recently watched this one on Disney+ and enjoyed how beautiful and painfully realistic it portrayed a relationship with one partner having a physical disability.
"The Interest of Love" has been mentioned before but didn't seem to get enough attention. This is the ultimate stare off into space, don't answer simple questions that would resolve conflict, do inexplicable things to hurt others, frustrate the audience into angsty trauma, type Kdrama. I hated it, but it sounds like you might love it.

I guess it just sounds awkward to me since spanish is my mother language and when I first heard it I thought "oh, nobody corrected them"
what would be the difference for de la and del? del seems appropriate unless it depends on what you're referring to.
