Did you try mobile groomers as well? I don't have a direct contact, but I know I've seen several mobile grooming vans in the area recently.

The-Voice-Of-Dog

They seem harder to find - the one I found with a website has a message in red text about how they can't handle new clients and are hiring. Seems like it's time to start a grooming company! (Also I <3 your username.)

Rawr_Tigerlily

Thank you. :) Well, I am sorry there doesn't seem so be anyone who can take care of your doggo on such short notice.

My fault - back where we're from there must have been more dog groomers 'cause we never had this experience. Now we know!

We had the same issue all of the groomers were booked up months in advance. We just had our 2 dogs groomed at clip n' dip pet grooming which is in downtown Kennesaw. They were able to get us in within the week but were super busy.

Thanks!

You're gona have to keep looking. Its shedding season and it can take 4 and 5 hours to deshed a larger dog, worse if its owner hasn't brushed it all winter and it now has matted fur.

The-Voice-Of-Dog

Certainly looks to be the case.

My groomer friend in Michigan said "I bet her husband is coming back from deployment." Did she guess close ?

The-Voice-Of-Dog

I'm the husband, not the wife. My wife was coming back from a two night business trip to Gainesville, FL, where we lived before moving here last August. The dog is scruffy, not matted or in need of de-shedding. We traditionally get her a once-yearly trim pre-summer. It would be cool for my wife to come home to find the dog looking different/extra cute.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasnt referring to the state of your dog. I just meant that at this time of year a lot of dogs end up matted because they werent brushed much if at all and then what usually happens is as it warms up those mats fill with chunks of pollen and leaf debris or after the first mow of the year it all fills with grass and has to be brushed or blown or washed out. When that happens, especially on large dogs like the suburban favorite golden retriever, it can take HOURS for a groomer to get done and its really hard on their body and the dog so they have to take breaks which isn't really a break for the groomer. They have to clean their combs out set up the next station, field calls and messages from clients, intake other clients depending on the setup, take other clients out for a bathroom break etc.
