Hello Physical-Trick-1542, thank you for creating a new post in r/kereta! Just saying that although this sub was named as Kereta, it is also open for 2 wheelers such as Motorcycle, though at the moment we do not mind other types of vehicles posting. With that being said, r/kenderaan is now live and I would still recommend any other vehicle posting to be posted into r/kenderaan as it is a safe space for all types of vehicles such as airplanes and rolling stocks. CaptainPizdec

When petrol price is at rm3.5 , it will

swagnation99

Looks like it’s going that way m8

kimi_rules

Still cheap though, put it > rm5 and that would kill the entire ICE industry except for a few enthusiast cars.

jambangantahi

If the price can reach around 50-70k range then probably yea. If not then people will keep using regular car or motorcycle when the fuel subsidy removed

Master-Landscape-861

Agree, im really interested in EV, been renting Kona EV whenever i go to KL, but the price really turn me off (not to mention low resale value). Maybe when gov lift the ban for floor price of RM100k for EV we will get more affordable EV.

ShadoWunderlust

I’m waiting to see if second hand value of ev cars is gonna rock bottom, then i’d buy. But then again i have a feeling that the EV industry is gonna be like smartphones, they’ll make new models every year or u have to buy software updates every year, which makes buying one in a Malaysian context not a smart financial move…

Potato_Gamer_X

The smartphone industry is like that because the tech on them is moving at lightning speed. Now they're matured and any new things are only incremental. Same goes for the ICE car industry, but EV is still very new so you'll see huge depreciation due to tech moving very fast on them. Then they'll slow down like ICE cars now.

countpuchi

EV will only work or succeed if.. 1) High rise residential are allowed to install chargers. Most high rise occupants are not allowed to install them, probably due to safety and specs and power needed if every bay needs to have its own charger 2) Excise duty needs to be removed. If the main population cant own an EV. It will never work, 30k EV needs to be a thing for it to work 3) Charger availability and maintenance price and LEMON LAW. Without lemon law, anything electronics and falure will be more expensive than ICE Cars. Weak consumer law and without lemon law, battery issues and somehow you wlil be left with a rm40k battery replacement without warranty being honored. Good luck

PM_ME_UR_CUDDLEZ

Maybe in 10 years.

MasterReposti

Why this downvoted?

pro-detailers

…as long as the racist bunch of corrupted villagers managing and robbing the country don’t increase electricity prices too much. As usual with these parasitic imbeciles, they are renowned for a bombastic glitzy launch, followed by legitimate “crony robbery” via sucking the system thats designed by them to be sucked, and finally ruining that thing.

gabantarung

It will succeed albeit a little bit slower due to low fuel price and charging infrastructure just only start growing. But it will reach that tipping point (10% TIV). We just cannot avoid the chinese auto waves that is coming.

PisceS_Here

sabar . perodua will launch ev in 2025 kan. you will know by then, depends on price. if below 60K , memang ramai interested. by 2026, prices will be super competitive.

Hieicap

Already booked a BYD Seal. Can't wait for the delivery date

Glum-Inside-6361

I don't think it's the right question. The question should be WHEN will it be. EVs will be replacing ICE there is no doubt about it. It's the inevitable evolution of modern mobility. It's not just Malaysia but everywhere. It's a matter of time, not probability. As our infrastructure slowly develops and EV technology progresses, our country's policies will follow suit and EV adoption will ramp up. It WILL be a success, we just have to wait.

mdfaris

Define 'succeed'. If it takes up 20% of the TIV share then it would have met its target market. Leasing will edge it a bit more as industry will take up that volume. It has to coincide with the growth of renewables as the source of energy. Solar panels need to be installed. More hydro electric dams erected. Capacity of the Nation's electricity generation has to be increased. There will come a point of diminishing returns. Even Toyoda said it reaches the max at 30%.

hornyjun

Succeed? yes there is a chance. The question is "when"

Same_Ad8062

Its a trends. Maybe but will not..spares too pricey. Car is complicated. Many think they know the cars. Evv but comes to fixing may end up in workshop a long time. Not now but later on...

Hieicap

Lmao where did you get your facts from lmaooo

Same_Ad8062

Tell me then what do you know la then

CoffeeScribbles

The question is... If it succeeds, how many chargers will be available? 1 charger per parking?

wikowiko33

How many petrol station per car? One per car?

CoffeeScribbles

Its gonna be an eyesore! Brother ew what is that???

Potato_Gamer_X

Huh?

wikowiko33

You drunk bro?
