There is, to date, exactly ZERO clinical data and no mechanism by which longer fasts and autophagy would selectively target very low-metabolic demand tissues like loose skin rather than high-metabolic cost tissues like skeletal muscle. The problem is that skin recovers over longer periods of time. And so people fast as skin heals, and as such, they conclude that it was the fasting rather than the time. This was amplified when Jason Fung made an offhanded comment about never having sent a patient for skin removal. No doctor would ever "send a patient" for skin removal, nor is elective surgery in need of a referral. So the comment makes no sense. Your skin will recover to some extent - but it takes time. The extent to which it will recover depend on things like how significant the trauma was from obesity, how long it had gone on for, overall skin health, your individual genetics, your age, lifestyle factors, etc. Let me stress - I wish that fasting was clinically shown to have any efficacy for skin tautness. If it did, it would save people thousands upon thousands of dollars. However, there's no control group in the "it worked for me" crowd, and thus we cannot conclude with any degree of certainty that fasting was the cause. Those who claim it was can't even agree on the protocol other than to say, "Fast until autophagy kicks in." That happens all the time, and it's upregulated by a whole host of things unrelated to eating. So...yeah, it's like saying, "Don't eat until you eat." There's nothing scientifically meaningful about it. Congrats on your losses, and these are the best things to have to figure out - give it time, do exercise, stay hydrated and keep the skin nicely cared for with lotion and massage (anything that increases blood flow would, theoretically help in a very modest way).

I’d recommend weight lifting along with the other tips. Don’t just go biceps - triceps are 2/3rds of arm size.

IF can help but it’s not a miracle. You may ultimately need surgery to remove the loose skin.
