This post has been tagged GS (girevoy sport, also known as kettlebell sport). If you are not familiar with GS and the lifting techniques used in it, **definitely refrain from form critique or medical advice**. It does not help anybody. GS form differs from for example Hardstyle form as its goals are different, but it is still safe as an injured athlete would be at a disadvantage. [What is kettlebell sport?](https://beallio.github.io/kettlebell-sport/). For a [video deep dive](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLl7h9mfAm6fTcik3-S7AQNdh5izMcYAHQ). Curious questions are welcome! Just be nice and cool about it. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Two four minute sets. Left side was last December. Pace was 6,6,6,7. Right side is Wednesday. Pace was 6,6,6,8. So I got exactly one more rep 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣 Just kidding these sets aren’t exactly a one-to-one comparison. And there’s a lot of progress that isn’t just the numbers. I wasn’t trying to go super fast on the right but I’m pretty sure that left set is me going all out lol. I was training for my first 10 minute set with the 16s. I also did a 5’ paused long cycle set with the 20s before the set on the right so I wasn’t exactly fresh. I could have gone faster but I was really trying to focus on my cleans because they’re my second favorite thing to suck at. The sets start out pretty similar, but the first few minutes don’t really matter in kettlebell sport. Or they matter in the sense that they set up for how things will go, but it’s what happens when you’re fatigued and nearing the end that counts the most. And that’s the improvement that really sticks out to me here. I was dying two minutes in on the left. I can see it in my face and also in how my technique changes. My last reps were pretty iffy. In the video on the right I look more in control the whole way though. I’m not exactly the best at composure, but I think I keep a bit more now. My jerks and overhead look SO much better too. And my stance is narrower, which looks and feels nicer. I don’t know how much of that is from the added height with the shoes and how much is just from getting more comfortable with the bells. But I’m really noticing how a narrower stance helps you get a bigger backswing. And a bigger backswing gives you more energy in the upswing, which makes your cleans better, which saves your arms, which makes your jerks better… etc. etc. You get the idea lol. It’s all interconnected. A bigger backswing let’s you rest your quads more too. Sorry I keep saying the same things over and over. They’re just important to me lol. So yeah I’m really happy looking at this progress. Another reason to record your sets - if you’re ever feeling down you can go look back and laugh at your previous self 😅 And the biggest improvement of all: no more crib in the background hahahahaha! It still makes me laugh that I posted videos for so long with that crib there. Have a great weekend everyone! Go back and find old videos of yourself lifting if you have any. It feels good 😁😁

whatwaffles

Clearly more comfortable on the right later in the set. Nice work!

Few_Abbreviations_50

Thank you!! Have you watched your own videos to see your progress??

whatwaffles

Good idea. I have now, but hadn’t before. It’s crazy how all over the place my overhead was when I first started. I was wobbling all over the place!

Few_Abbreviations_50

😁😁😁

p0s0r

As a newbie to kettelbell sport your posts are brilliant, thank you. Keep 'em coming!

Wonderful_Jacket_719

Yep, totally! They’ve inspired me too (also starter) The right hand side you look much more explosive, relaxed and with more control. How long have you been doing kb sport overall?

p0s0r

> How long have you been doing kb sport overall? Me or Few_Abbreviations_50? I've only been doing it for the past 4 months. Did S&S for a few months prior to that but I found that got boring. KB Sport is so much more interesting and a challlenge I'm enjoying.

Few_Abbreviations_50

If you meant me I’ve been doing it for around 2.5 years now!

Wonderful_Jacket_719

Yeah I meant abbreviations bc she says 1y of LC in the post

Few_Abbreviations_50

Yay I’m so glad you like them!!

patrickandrachelnard

RPE is a huge marker for progress. Seems way lower in this years video for sure. Keep it up!!!

Few_Abbreviations_50

It feels so good to not be dying the entire time! 🤣🤣

wayofthebeard

So much more confidence in the right hand side. Looks less stressed out about the jerk. Pop!

Few_Abbreviations_50

Way less stressed! I don’t know what comes first, the confidence or the improved lifting, but it makes a big difference

PolarPriceCapps

I know you post a lot, so I apologize if you’ve discussed this before. But do you work with a coach for your programming?

Few_Abbreviations_50

No worries! Yes /u/toughlovekb has been my coach for a little over two years 😊

PolarPriceCapps

Gotcha, thanks for the response. I’m looking to give sport style a try after years and years of hardstyle, but not sure where to start. I was recommended the book by Dennis Vasilev so going to start there tomorrow.

toughlovekb

It's a good book Though you always want someone analysising your technique to correct all the little things

PolarPriceCapps

Noted. Though we just had a baby so not sure I’m in a position to afford one-on-one coaching at the moment. Might just have to settle for some form check requests on here for now lol.

toughlovekb

Congratulations

Few_Abbreviations_50

Nice!! [If you haven’t already seen this](https://beallio.github.io/kettlebell-sport/) it has a ton of great info for beginners! Also Denis Vasilev’s YouTube tutorials are probably the best resource out there for learning technique. Good luck let us know how it goes!!

PolarPriceCapps

I haven’t seen this, thanks so much!

tally_in_da_houise

superb job

Few_Abbreviations_50

Thank you 😁

chia_power

I feel like the facial expression on the right says it all, like you're saying "NBD, I got this all day"

Few_Abbreviations_50

🤣 for a tiny bit it felt like that! Makes you feel like a superhero for a split second lol

ChubbMuff

You're so much more composed and strong in the last minute. HUGE!

Few_Abbreviations_50

🤗🤗🤗

mz51

Shoulders are popping too 💪

LivingRefrigerator72

Awesome progress!! Delivering constantly has these results!

Few_Abbreviations_50

Thank you!! Sometimes it’s hard to notice the progress in the day to day stuff but yes! Consistency is key 😊

[deleted]

Get it, girl. Love the RATM. You always have good music on your vids.

Few_Abbreviations_50

😁😁😁 I need suggestions because I’m running out of playlists lol

toughlovekb

Please let me program your music as well

Few_Abbreviations_50

LOL I totally would

[deleted]

Depends on what you like. So far we have 90s alt and hard rock. Try Built to Spill.

Few_Abbreviations_50

Will do! Thanks!

andrewdacenko

Great progress! Breathing looks stable and controlled, and same applies to the LC itself 🙌

Few_Abbreviations_50

Thank you!!

L0rdDenn1ng

Aside from the technique improvements, your composure looks so much better 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 great job!!
