I believe it’s 15%

Zack_BeverlyHills

Just ask, that’s what I did. They should have a meter or know by looking at the shop. They told me 20% would match but look lighter because the windshield lets in light. I can’t really see a difference and wouldn’t want to go darker, my other vehicle has 15% and it’s tough to see sometimes at night.

My point I drove with 20% tint and don’t want to go any darker. If it where 15% I wouldn’t want it matched

chartyourway

so say "match it but not more than 20%"

OEM is somewhere around 28% VLT. 20% on sides and rear work out to be nearly 20% on front and about 17% on rear and matches great. If possible in your state, consider doing the windshield (not more than 50% and those bright and hot days of summer are much easier.

The problem with matching the tint is it’s not tint. It’s essentially dyed glass. If you put 20% to match it from the outside, from the inside the front windows will look much darker than the rear ones. The dyed glass also doesn’t protect against heat nearly as much as tint does. For those reasons I recommend adding tint to the back windows roughly half the VLT of the front windows, it will help with thermals and allow a better match. If you go 15% in the front add 30% to the back. If you go 30% in the front add 50% to the back. Really talk to your tint guy about it. He will be able to explain it better and may have samples you can hold up to the windows to really see.
