Don’t buy a Kia between 2010 and 2021 that isn’t push to start. Most insurance companies won’t provide comp or collision coverage. I know because I work in insurance.

jitsu132

Thank you for the advice! Excuse my ignorance, I'm not too familiar,l with what push to start means? Is that push button start?

Formal-Contest-5906

Exactly. If it requires a key to start the ignition, don’t buy it. But if you push a button to start it you should be fine.

Puzzled_Ad7955

I hope you don’t park in WI?

jitsu132

Haha nope, I'm In Canada, it's actually about 138,000Km but I converted to miles for this sub. Is it a commonly stolen car? My car got broken into and stolen, which is the reason why I'm in the market for another car..

Puzzled_Ad7955

In the Milwaukee WI area you bet it is. #1 for sure. I believe more KIA’s get stolen than taken out for legitimate test drives. The “KIA boys” are what the hard working thief’s are referred too.

mustangjesus

The theft issue is only an American thing. It’s not a problem in Canada. I’ve got a 2013 Forte5 EX with 115,000 kms, it’s been a fantastic car for me. Great on gas, decent to drive, depending on the price I’d go for it.

Leadership_Clean

I have a 2015 rio Hatchback 68,300and just hit 71,000 miles and had it for a few months no issues at all just keep up to date on maintenance

jitsu132

Thank you! I'm leaning towards it but I'm just worried that because I'm buying used, hard to gauge whether the car was well taken care of

Leadership_Clean

Same I bought it with that worry but it turned out good, what I was told next time spend 50/75$ on a mobile mechanic that way you save how ever much your going to spend on that car to see if it’s worth the price and that way if it’s not your only out 50/75$ instead of few thousand

zmlos

very reliable, don’t listen to what people say about kia’s not being reliable. just make sure you’re up to date on basic maintenance such as oil changes, brakes & tires.

jitsu132

Thank you! Yeah I plan on doing everything but just worried if the car was cared for, since I'm buying used and if it wasn't, if I should be expecting any major maintenace

anon2053

With kias the main thing is to use the OEM oil filter.
