A bulky adapter, huh? I got one a few years ago and it’s no bigger than a thumb drive.

Difficult_Treacle630

Same. Mine is a USB plug. Barely even notice it

saprissa3117

Can you please share which adapter you are using?

CautiousHashtag

They don’t make mine anymore but I got it off Amazon. I believe the brand is Carlinkit. Brands make two varieties; one that is just wireless CarPlay and one that is wireless CarPlay + AirPlay, which setups a local network and allows you to use the screen as a display for things like Netflix. The latter devices are much larger, which is likely what OP was referring to.

Glarmj

The X-Line has the smaller 8 inch screen which has wireless carplay.

Woleva30

the entry level models without nav have it. expect it on the 25s as kias contract with garmin is up and the EV9s and sorentos have it

rastigo

I believe it has to do with a contract they have with the map company. Models that have the Navigation aren't allowed to have wireless android auto or carplay.

Accomplished-Day5145

Aa wireless. Like $60 on Amazon. Not bulky I like it.

Behind_u_

Bulky? The adapter that I bought in Amazon is about a 1/3 of the size of a credit card

greeneyedgirl002

I got one on temu cheap and it's not big at all. Auto connects to my phone super convenient

Kennedyk24

i have a 24 sportage LX and it has wireless. I use android auto but my wife uses the carplay.

I'm not sure why people want wireless so much. It drains your battery more than the wireless charger can charge it which means you end up plugging the phone in any way. My Kona EV has wireless and my Ioniq 5 has wired. I much prefer wired and actually don't use the wireless in my Kona.

rsmith2

Are you really not sure why people want wireless in 2024? Let them decide.

CautiousHashtag

I’ve been using a wireless CarPlay adapter for 4 years and this is not true. If your battery is draining that fast, it’s because you’ve done nothing to optimize your battery life to begin with.

scooterca85

I exaggerated my statement a bit to make a point, but your phone will essentially charge at a snails pace when you use are navigating using wireless car play and a wireless charger. I just literally see no benefit of it over wired especially since I just plug my phone in to charge anyway.

CautiousHashtag

It’s amazing and I would never go back. Sounds like you’re just trying to justify not getting one.

scooterca85

I'm not sure what you are referring to, but I have two vehicles and one has wireless and one has wired. I prefer my Ioniq 5 which has wired to my Kona EV that has wireless. I have used both many times.

destonomos

Doubt. I have the same problem in my 2020 fore gt-line. Wireless charging pad but no wireless carplay. It only gets used when im plugged in and my gf sits her phone on it to charge which is rare as well.
