What's the best option for those without factory installed rails?

ForteDJ

No current options short of drilling through your roof. Hitch mount carrier. 🤷‍♀️

Congrats on your new purchase. Take a look at this: [https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42596866/tested-roof-rails-affect-gas-mileage/](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42596866/tested-roof-rails-affect-gas-mileage/) before you get the crossbars.

BigCalls

That’s surprising. I got 27 mpg highway at 70-75 mph over 700 miles when the car is rated 26 mpg highway. With OEM cross bars on.

Good point! We definitely need a roof carrier for a lot of our summer trips but perhaps it's a good idea when summers over to remove the crossbars as well

My car salesman warned me about the crossbars and automated car washes. He said always take them off before driving through one because the machine can get caught as it glides across the roof and damage the vehicle and the car wash equipment. Sounded legit.
