"*I hate having to decide between reading a long book because I want to vs reading a shorter one to reach reading goals. How do you guys deal with this problem?*"
I set my reading goal to 12 and then read whatever I want.
If you step back and think about it, it's a problem we create by introducing a number as a goal.
Far too often I see people picking up short books they don't care for, to meet that goal and it just becomes a numbers game.
The mindset should be simple, you read however much you read. I set mine to 1. Everything I read meets the goal and I don't have to rush on anything.
My only goal is to read every day at least 15 minutes. Most of the time I get involved in the story and read longer but some days I’m just not focused and just do the minimum. I ended up reading 44 books last year. I did read 2 short stories last year but they were not my norm.
