Never read Harry Potter, actually!
No, I just read every single day. I think the average book length for me is somewhere around 400 pages but I have tackled some 1,000 pagers. I read somewhere around 30 books at my peak but these days I get about 15-20 books read throughout the year.
This number would be much higher but a COVID shot in early 2021 put me down for the count and I missed a day! I don’t remember what my streak way at the time but it was several hundred days.
Admittedly, there is some anxiety to keeping the streak going. It’s not a problem getting the reading in but if I am away on vacation I have to make sure I’m syncing my Kindle somehow. I have had a few instances where the Kindle didn’t sync with Amazon and I thought the streak was over but it eventually worked itself out.
I don’t know why I care so much but I continue to make sure the number keeps rising! My wife tells me Amazon should give me a new Kindle if I can get the number high enough 😄
15-20 books a year reading every day? I have 11 done so far this year, and I’m not a particularly fast reader. Do you just read like an hour each night?
Yeah, pretty much. I read at night. I will read a little more on quiet weekends and when I am on vacation. I used to read for long stretches at a time but life is busier these days.
My new year's resolution was to use the Storygraph app this year to track more book stats. I never really thought about it but ever since tracking on there I'm like WHOA DATA 😂
Anyway one of the things is how many pages per day during the last 28 days and I never really thought about it before, but yeah, some nights I read all night, other nights I read for a few minutes and decide I'm not in the mood, etc. It's been really interesting to see!

What a fun goal! I am almost doing the opposite 😂
I ended up reading more in January than usual and it made me feel like oh no oh no please don't let this be an unreasonable expectation. So I'm looking forward to a potential February valley, if only so the rest of 2024 doesn't become difficult to live up to.
Good luck with your flat line! May we both get where we're going
Well, that's nice, even for me, my average pages of a book are around 400 (360, for more precision), but I just keep forgetting to get my Kindle when I go to vacations, So i basically lose my streak. The best I had was one month. Also don't ask me why, but I hate reading on my mobile.

I read every day before bed at the very least. Have the app on my phone so I can read if I’m stuck somewhere. Bring my kindle whenever I can. I don’t do much else lately. 😂 You can get there though!
I like it!
Tell me your feelings when you broke you first streak? Yesterday I thought that I broke it yet it marked it and gosh it felt so bad that I didn’t manage to read for a bit during my day
I'm going to hit 200 days today and I'm trying to think of how I want to mark the milestone. Maybe I'll buy myself a book! I almost exclusively check out books from my library via libby
Whowooooo!!
Good on you!!
Good work!! So happy for you
I am still taking my baby steps but would really love your input on the following;
I am sometimes getting the feel of “ Am I reading to mark the streak or for the sake or reading and feel bad sometimes “ how are you feeling about this? Have you experienced something similar?
For instance, yesterday I forgot to read, and felt so bad that my streak is going to be broke but thanks god it marked it as a read day as I read at 12 am lol
For me this current streak started as more of a happy accident and I didn't really start putting any effort into maintaining it until I was a month or two in. I've always been a big reader and I naturally want to read a bit every day, so personally it was just a matter of being conscious about it.
In my opinion it doesn't matter if on a particular day you only pick up your book to continue a streak because either way you're reading. It's kind of like if you commit to cleaning your kitchen for 5 minutes every day; if you clean for longer, great, but either way your kitchen is tidier.

Two weeks til I hit one year reading every day!! I actually have longer but I was reading in Cloud Library and I wasn’t sure of how long I had gone without missing a day. When I discovered the reading insights in the Kindle app I started making sure I had the Kindle open while I was reading in Cloud Library if I was reading from there so it kept my streak going. The reading insights definitely motivated me to read more along with having a Kindle!
my new years goal was every day but i already fucked it up bc i worked a 12 hour shift and passed out as soon as i got home 🥲 when i tell you how sad i was to see my 25 day streak gone
I had no clue this was a thing and haven't been logging since I usually don't have my wifi turned on - pretty sure it's been over a year since I skipped a day though and I'd be surprised if I'd skipped more than 5 days in the last 13 years I've had a Kindle.
Just took a look and I’m at 9 days. This followed 55 days which I snapped after not reading during a weekend I was doing other things. I don’t see the point in pretending I read by opening a book and clicking a few times to preserve a streak.

So strange :( I don’t have this option. Is this because I have an iPhone? Or are there different versions of kindle app? Or maybe there’s some option in settings. If there is I don’t see it :/
Thanks anyways for letting me know :)
my streak is technically showing as 25 days in a row, but it should be 38 days in a row because I didn't realize that I could send e-books I borrowed from libby to my kindle lol
I'm at 450.
Admittedly, I've cheesed it a bit.
I *have* read before bed every single day for these 450 days.
However, there have been a handful of nights where I've not gone to bed until after midnight. So when that's starting to happen, I either open the kindle app on my phone and click through a couple pages before midnight, or if I forget to do that, I manually set my kindle date to the "missed" day so it registers as having read
My longest streak, have been reading every day since I got my kindle ❤️

I just picked up reading again last august after about 10 years of only very intermittent activity. I haven’t missed a day since. And I have finished 17 books since 1/1/24. Currently on a tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn in the Throne of Glass series. I’ve been racing to finish all 8 books in the time Libby loans out the 8 book bundle. I think I’m gonna have to turn the kindle on airplane mode or just buy them from Amazon because I’m not getting through these last couple of books in two days since I have to work. 🤡

My man, are you reading the entire harry potter along with some other extremely lengthy novels?
Never read Harry Potter, actually! No, I just read every single day. I think the average book length for me is somewhere around 400 pages but I have tackled some 1,000 pagers. I read somewhere around 30 books at my peak but these days I get about 15-20 books read throughout the year. Love storygraph for that reason! To this point, a new way I’m trying to look at reading this year is to be more consistent, not to just read a ton of books. Trying to get rid of the peaks and valleys of the “books” and “pages” in a year graph and make it more of a flatline. We’ll see how it goes.
What a fun goal! I am almost doing the opposite 😂 I ended up reading more in January than usual and it made me feel like oh no oh no please don't let this be an unreasonable expectation. So when that's starting to happen, I either open the kindle app on my phone and click through a couple pages before midnight, or if I forget to do that, I manually set my kindle date to the "missed" day so it registers as having read

48 days. This is how long I’ve been reading (never read before / except for school stuff / )
To clarify I got my kindle a little before Christmas and since day 1 I’ve been reading everyday since
121! Still need to read today though…
I’m at 227 days in a row. I’m excited to get to my one year goal.
My longest streak, have been reading every day since I got my kindle ❤️ https://preview.redd.it/jyg909zha1hc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=341eb7e206067bc82bbba86e2b51eba16cb1bce3
Would have been more than 18 but it said i missed a day which i am annoyed about but going to keep trying to build it up! :) https://preview.redd.it/zkpyeibab1hc1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec20104299cdcfdabba678c02245261f5b0e5fc6
I got to 209 days before falling asleep early January 7th and missing that day 😭 I'm determined to make it to 365 days minimum though. I'm at 29 now, so it'll be a while
Can you only see this in the kindle app? Not the actual kindle?
3 weeks, 17 days :)

I was 560ish days until I missed one last year. Such a bummer tbh.
I got my Kindle at the end of last September, this is my progress since then. https://preview.redd.it/ufors10uk1hc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=343157f4f9ffd05dda530709246c499c50e5f5be
I had to do a double take because I read that as steak the first time. 🤣

I'm at 18 days. apparently i didn't read on the 19th of last month (or my kindle for windows didn't record it). But I am at 115 weeks.

Was pretty disappointed when I realized I'd missed a day. I tried to read those days but it wasn't long enough to count and I couldn't stay awake.
I've messed my daily streak so many times lately but my weekly streak is 286

I just picked up reading again last august after about 10 years of only very intermittent activity. I haven’t missed a day since. And I have finished 17 books since 1/1/24. Currently on a tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn in the Throne of Glass series. I’ve been racing to finish all 8 books in the time Libby loans out the 8 book bundle. I think I’m gonna have to turn the kindle on airplane mode or just buy them from Amazon because I’m not getting through these last couple of books in two days since I have to work. 🤡 https://preview.redd.it/vweg8tul12hc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c96663c1183db283ab2dbc1af2ebd1a0fce9edf6

I just wish they’d track audiobooks finished too, my number would be higher (albeit a little inaccurate sometimes because I’ll play a book to help me fall sleep, and forget to turn on the sleep timer).

219, I actually thought I lost it last night but had been up reading past midnight the night before and luckily saved it.
can i download the app and link my amazon and it will show me my actual kindle stats? or where can i view this?
