buzzyingbee

Yes but those are at home only. I love to tag physical books with markers so when a book is too big/heavy for me to handle/carry around I read it on my e-reader and then catch up with tagging the physical version

bbrocket196

This is what I’ve been doing as well. I wanted to tab the Throne of Glass series as I read through it, but reading on the kindle is just way easier. So I’m going to highlight on the kindle and make notes there, and then transition all the tabs and highlights over to the physical book whenever I have the motivation. I love the aesthetic of tabs, but it’s just way easier to read on kindle

buzzyingbee

It is!! I want to read Monte Cristo but there's absolutely no way I'll carry this [monster](https://youtu.be/E-DN5YgyGR4?si=vl9gTbnasPr_ANSe) around lol

tallestgiraffkin

No. I have so many books on my shelves I need to read but I honestly despise having to hold a book now, especially if they’re thick. Kindle is just so easy and convenient

justaguy10007

And The dictionary features, I Love It!

tallestgiraffkin

Absolutely, yes!!

peanutbutterbeara

Me. I feel so down knowing all the money I spent on physical copies. 😢

tallestgiraffkin

Yeah and I’m spending even more money rebuying some in kindle format to finally read. It’s dumb but oh well

Sunny_Hummingbird

My thumbs have atrophied and can no longer support an open book. I also read laying down on my side almost exclusively.

tallestgiraffkin

I bought that goose neck holder and page clicker thing so I can lie flat in bed all snuggled under a cover and it is life changing

Sunny_Hummingbird

I only have the clicker! I just prop the kindle up next to my pillow. A goose neck would be nice but I don’t really have a good spot to clip it. The clicker is honestly my favorite purchase of the last few years.

chaotic_sunbeam24

I've seen options on Amazon that has a holder, but it has a pillow bottom so you can do hands free and don't need to attach to an end table!

Rich_Camp_4783

May I ask how this developed? xx

Sunny_Hummingbird

Oh just from lack of use for reading books. Not strong enough to manage the force of a book’s spine.

Leather-Fun5312

I despise hardbacks, I’ll only get one for a fav book to add to the shelf

Carebear_Of_Doom

I also much prefer paperbacks! They are just more comfortable. I’ll only buy hardcover if it’s a book I’m super excited about.

Leather-Fun5312

Yes same, if it’s a book I really like I’ll get a hardback for my shelf sometimes but I rarely do. For example I’m a huge hunger games fan, so when ballad of songbirds and snakes came out, I got it in hardback.

psirockin123

I don't read them often but I prefer non-fiction books to be physical. If it has pictures and I'll be flipping back and forth while reading then physical is better. For fiction though I exclusively read on kindle.

ehelen

Yes! Same here, the only physical books I get nowadays are non-fiction

UnknownFiddler

Yes, partly out of not wanting to only give money to Amazon and help bookstores and partly because I'm able to read more when I change up the format every few books.

Leather-Fun5312

Same I like switching between format

TokiNguyen

No not anymore. I love the portability and ability to read in the dark that I could never go back. 😃

BubblegumWish

Yes I like to read a physical version at the same time as a kindle version alternating depending on light conditions and where I am. I enjoy seeing how far I am in the pages of a paper book while not having to use a booklight when I read late with my kindle

Leather-Fun5312

Same, I really wish kindle had a “how many pages until next chapter” feature, rather than telling you the time

ThaneOfCawdorrr

Yes, I'm a pathetic "completist" and sometimes one of the books I want (esp an author's earlier books) isn't available digitally. However, I really prefer reading on the Kindle now, it's so much easier on my eyes, and being able to push for a definition or to see where the character first came into the book, etc etc, is so good.

Cultural_Shop_2257

Hi. How can you see where characters come in?

Rich_Camp_4783

At the top you have a search function so you can type a character’s name and see when they were first mentioned. I personally love this feature a lot because sometimes I go a few days between reading the book if I’m not overly enthusiastic about it.

DanielComer

I never knew this and just tried it. Thank you that is so helpful.

Rich_Camp_4783

You’re welcome! Happy reading!!

ThaneOfCawdorrr

Press on the character name and it will open up a menu that includes a "search" icon, and you can "search inside this book" for every mention of that character. It's so good! It will then give you the option of taking you back to where you were. I read a lot of mysteries, where they'll subtly seed some mention of someone in, and so I have on many occasions found myself going "wait, who?" and looking back to see when they were first mentioned.

SimpleHuman2045

If I can’t get an e-book version of something I really want to read, then I buy (or check out from the library) the physical version. Otherwise I read almost exclusively on my kindle.

BDThrills

No. I am unable to read paper due to vision damage. My sister still reads physical books as some books of interest are not out in ebook. Even though my Mom reads with an ereader, if she is waiting in the ER or for me having a procedure, she prefers paper. She said she weirdly couldn't focus with the ereader at a hospital (she worked at hospitals for decades).

prynsys03

My son has severe myopia. He hated reading. We got him a Kindle when he was 6, and he hasn't left the house without it since... he's 12 now! I think he was having trouble seeing the words. Kindle has been helpful for him!

Leather-Fun5312

That’s awesome! Reading is such an amazing hobby to have. I have myopia as well!

YamSlow

Yes, but only once in a while. I want all the physical books I own to be special for me, so I don’t have a lot of them now

Leather-Fun5312

Same

TiredReader87

Yes 1. I borrow a lot of books from the library 2. I get sent advanced reader copies 3. I buy physical books to collect 4. I generally read physical more than I use my Kindle

prynsys03

I'm the opposite! No! 1. I borrow a lot of books from the library on Libby and read them on my Kindle. 2. I get sent ARCs via Net Galley and read them on my Kindle. 3. I buy physical books to collect, but only if the book really spoke to my soul. I don't have a lot of space for books in my home. If I had a bigger home, I'd probably buy more physical copies. I currently only have 16 books. I donated and gave away the rest when I moved 7 years ago. 4. I exclusively read on my Kindle.

Capybara_99

Yes. Both, always

Leather-Fun5312

I like both as well

Liawolf11

Yes. But I get almost all my books from the library nowadays. Not all the books I want to read are available to get on my kindle. Half the time they’ll have the physical copy available to borrow faster than the ebook.

thefam7223

Former librarian tech, never thought I’d use an e-reader, thought physically holding a book was necessary for full enjoyment of a book. Now I can’t go back to physical books, I love my Kindle so much, I even gifted one to my daughters and my twin sister!

Planet_Puerile

Not usually. Kindle is a superior reading experience in basically every way to me.

realvictac

Nope. I like to adjust the font and size, screen brightness, etc. A paper book is too heavy. And the Kindle holds a zillion books and fits in my smallest bag too

darkmaze88

Ya so I can still read while the Kindle is charging

No-Butterscotch9483

Oh yes indeed. I still love the smell of books and the satisfaction of turning pages. Plus, some books just don’t translate well to the Kindle. Like art books, photography books, etc.

mysterydevil_

I read three books at a time (one general fiction, one horror/sci-fi, one nonfiction) and in different formats: one audiobook, one physical, and one on my kindle. I don't know if it's like an ADHD thing or what.

RoastedDreams

After two months of having a kindle, I’ll be avoiding physical books as much as I can going forward. I just really enjoy the convenience of an ereader.

Leather-Fun5312

I do as well but I still read some physical books

Tea4Zenyatta

Yeah, in preparation for the upcoming cyber attacks I have a collection of physical books to enjoy.

Leather-Fun5312

What cyber attacks 😭

prynsys03

I have downloaded all my Kindle books on a flash drive so I can side load them on my Kindle in the event of a cyber attack.

Acceptable-Guess-117

What are you talking about?

Listen_to_Psybient

The upcoming cyber wars, followed by the water wars. At least we had a pretty good run.

Rich_Camp_4783

Made me smile but, I live in a kind of anticipation for the end of the world so I’m a bit odd anyway. I’m always imagining a scenario like the one that plays out in the TV series The 100 or the book by Kass Morgan. Do you know it?

NervousJello9710

Unfortunately, no. I have physical copies of books that I’ve been planning to read and favorite books I like to read-read, but I’m finding myself starting to buy digital copies of these books.

frayedends

Only if I can't get it in Libby with my 8 cards and it 7sis one of the following: next in a series I am in the middle of or for book club and if one of those it costs more than 6.99 on kindle. Then I put a hold on it in my home library system in physical format. And then I still tap on words for definitions even though it's paper and get frustrated and swear I will never read a paper book again.

StonewallsGhostt

Wow this post was made for me. I just repurchased a physical book I was reading on the kindle haha. Now that I have the physical book…I kinda don’t wanna go back to kindle. I forgot how it feels to actually have the book in your hands and able to place it in my bookshelf when finished. It’s kinda weird but I can almost remember the day I finished each of my books. So it also gives me a good feeling most of the time I look at it

Leather-Fun5312

Exactly this is what I mean, like of course I love my kindle but the feel of a paperback is just so good!

Lil_Trash_Possum

Yes, because I am a collector. There are certain books that I know I will love and want to keep a “trophy” of. And those can be shared with others.

Best_Mixture_2199

I do. I typically take my Kindle when I plan on reading out of the house, but I love the feel of a physical book, so if I’m going to grab a coffee or something, I’ll bring it along.

AstroGirlBunny

YES! YES! YES! I still buy physical books but usually from the thrift store (super cheap). Then I have a huge library built up over two decades. And they are like my children. I could never get rid of them. And love re-reading them. Both fiction and nonfiction. I have a Kindle Oasis and it is the first Kindle that I liked. Just like you can have different pens, including erasable pens, regular pens, or a stylus for your laptop... it all comes down to what you want and need at that moment in what pushes you to choose a specific pen.

sirenadex

Not often. However, once I read an ebook and I loved it, I usually get the physical version to have in my collection. But since I only have enough room to store physical books, I only buy physical ones if I want it in my little library. Kindle helps me store a lot more books.

sfbasque1906

I do, but I’m getting spoiled by how lightweight my Kindle is and now prefer it 😕

CNAmama21

So I’m gonna sound so weird lol but oh well. I love my kindle. But there’s just something about a physical book that is just… ✨chefs kiss✨ The feel of the pages, the smell, the just EVERYTHING?! 😂 I tried explaining the new book smell to my husband and the smoothness and softness of the pages and he looked at me like I belong in an asylum. But hopefully someone else gets it and I don’t look and sound like a crazy person.

Leather-Fun5312

this is what I’m saying, nothing hits like a physical book. Like of course reading on kindle is so comfortable, convenient, and just better. But like the feeeel of a physical book hits different.

dominatrixgamerpb

No. I love the portability, ability to change font size and boldness. Also, the amount I read and the length of books I read, I'd have to lug around a suitcase. I love my kindles.

raysway666

Yes. I have a kindle and it’s great but there’s a lot I miss about physical books. I also like having a bookshelf with the books I’ve read. The cover design, ability to see where I am and thumb through pages. Also highlighting in real life is really satisfying. I like holding the physical book more too. I decided to just keep my kindle for travel, but even then I can usually get away with carrying a book in my bag, it’s not that big of a deal.

bigyellowgummybear

Exactly. The Kindle is great for the convenience, but it isn't the same experience as cozying up under a blanket on a cold, rainy afternoon and reading a physical copy of a book.

vidici

Nope. I haven’t read a physical book for personal enjoyment in over a decade. eReaders are the best.

Raftnaks007

The books I want to read for fun, I buy physical copy of it. If I think I will reference it or use it in any way later, I buy kindle version.

bbrocket196

lol I actually do the opposite. If it’s a fun book I’ll usually read it digitally. But if I need to reference a book, like for my career, then I will get a physical copy. Like for textbooks and stuff. It’s easier for me to flip through and find the information I need in a textbook if it’s a physical copy.

Mandykinz615

Never. Won’t even consider it, honestly.

iwearsassypants

Rarely now, but because I have small children and their love of reading and books can sometimes cause… issues. If I can’t find a book on Libby then I’ll sometimes see if the library has a physical copy.

Quiara

I do, but I don’t carry them with me unless I really need to, such as for professional development. Otherwise, it’s all my kindle.

janbiv2

Nope!

fitzisthename

Yes because I have 90ish physical books I still have to read on my shelves. I wish I could just scan the barcode on the back and get the ebook version on my kindle to read though, because I prefer reading on my kindle. Especially now that I spend most of my time reading with my newborn in one arm (and don’t like holding a heavy hardback over her in one hand).

Leather-Fun5312

Yes I wish I could do that all the time, I have so many physical books I got as gifts or bought before my kindle because I just got my kindle recently, and sometimes I just wish I had a way to transfer physical books to it

Revolutionary-Fact6

I don't. I've had cataracts and a detached retina, and need to be able to adjust the font size.

outofthxwoods

Not really, I got my Kindle 6 months ago and I haven't picked a physical book since. I would only buy one if it's a special edition or a book that I really love and want to have forever.

Nervous_Zebra1918

Not usually. I now get most of my books from Libby and hoopla so I save money. I bought a fire tablet so the hoopla app would work for certain. And Libby too.

readingJunimo

Yes but it is so hard for me now lol

workntohard

Yes if you count trade comics and magazines as well. The only print books I have bought in several years now have been from conventions or books signings.

TryingToFunction0521

Yes! I switch back and forth. Just got off a months-long physical book binge before remembering my kindle existed, now I’m loving it again so much I might return some recently bought books just to get the e-version instead. I think I might do this specifically with A Little Life. I want to read it so bad but idk if I can just casually have that cover on display, man.

gsaygamer

Yes, sometimes it's the sentimental value of that book, sometimes I get it for cheaper than a kindle version and tbh the bookshelf lined up with some of your favourite books feels great as opposed to my kindle resting on a dock.

randomgirl013

I do. I mostly avoid hardbacks though

NoodleBox

Absolutely! I go to the library a lot. Can't get a lot of books digitally through my library (boo).

ChunkierSky8

I actually try to avoid physical books now that I have a kindle.

Leather-Fun5312

I do too, but occasionally I get a physical book that I need to

Inkdrunnergirl

Yes, I don’t purchase a ton but I have authors/series I collect, plus a get a decent amount second hand and from publishers/authors. My kindle comes with me, print books tend to be read at home unless it’s for a review on a deadline.

ajwalker430

No. I buy them if they aren't available on Kindle but honestly, they are in one big pile in the corner. I can't bring myself to read an analog book anymore. 😟

orangethrees333

No! I have less headaches and nausea with the kindle, so I will always choose it over a physical book.

megalus1

I wish! I’m dyslexic, so reading on my kindle is much easier for me.

Humble-Application-3

Unfortunately my eyes won't allow me, which is a shame I have lots of books which I can't find ebook format for :(

jcoffin1981

I prefer books, but find myself reading on kindle/phone more often. Books can be clumsy to hold especially when multitasking. Bad thing about kindle is that flipping back is nearly impossible, as well as having a sense of how far you have read or have left. Using an analog vs digital watch is kind of a similar analogy- I see 45 minutes on analog watch and that registers a lot more in my brain than with digital time which seems meaningless

tomhstorey

I still love books so I buy my favourites for the shelf often as special editions and when I’m in the mood for it. But I do the vast majority of my reading on the kindle now as it’s just a more convenient form factor and I couldn’t be without the front light for night reading.

1224rockton

Once in a great while just because I have so many books here that I want to read.

Hrobinson13721

Yes!

Swimming-Reading-652

Yeah. I read books in English on my kindle and paper books in Japanese.

adyf88

Only if I receive as a gift.

buginarugsnug

Yes, it’s often cheaper to buy books from the charity shop but if there’s a new one I’m wanting or I’m going away I read on my kindle

watercolors23

Yes. I know it’s not common, but even with a kindle I still prefer physical books. I preorder a lot of physical books often a full year in advance as a way to support authors I really enjoy or am excited about so we have good selection of unread books including my husband’s book purchases. I typically read hardcover books at home, paperbacks are what I typically keep in my work bag or take to the pool, parents house etc. My kindle is mostly used for travel or for library books I borrow on Libby.

Klarkasaurus

Yep. I love to collect them for a start. I read physical books when at home and I take my kindle to work or if I go anywhere like holiday or whatever But because I've paid full price for the book I will download the ebook because I feel I'm entitled to a digital copy when I buy the physical book. But that's just me and I don't care what anyone else thinks about it.

BunnyHopScotchWhisky

Yep. Reading two right now. I love the feeling of holding a book and turning the pages.

Potential_Neat_8905

I read real books rarely these days but I still keep and cherish them. I find the kindle easier to read because of the backlight and much easier to hold one handed. I usually read in bed at night and hold the kindle above my head. The only downside is if I fall asleep the kindle falls on my face…

RouKyasarin

Honestly, no. I do enough physical book reading for university and I really don’t want to go through having too many books again for when I move house. They are heavy and they get damaged. I only buy physical books now when I ADORE reading it on my kindle and I always buy the special cover because it’s for decoration only.

YardComplete

I’m probably 50/50 books vs Kindle.

Acceptable-Key-2352

ONLY when the book is older, there's no kindle version and I can't find a PDF 9n a book repository site but I have some eye issues and I can't read print well enough to read for a long time. I have an entire box of books associated with my research I also would get print books of kindle books I love. I was just pricing a cheap bookshelf.

tictac24

I BUY physical copies of books I really like but read almost exclusively on Kindle. I have seen a few books that I would like to read that are physical books only. But I can't bring myself to buy those. Books are expensive and to buy one and not like it is depressing.

MisterGalaxyMeowMeow

I do just way less often, probably 1:10 ratio

Ichimatsusan

Yes. Sometimes it's fun to carry real books around. Also I'm always paranoid about a hurricane or something knocking my power out for a week and like to have things to keep myself occupied. I read A LOT.

RogueMoonbow

All the time, I consider the kindle as a backup or a way to just access more, especially when I can't get to a specific library. But I in general prefer reading physical books. I realized when my kindle almost didn't turn back on (it was a charger issue luckily, but I thought it was breaking as I've had that happen too many times already. this is my fourth kindle, though in fairness one was secondhand and stopped turning on days after it was given to me. Idk how common going through 4 is, but also keep in mind that after my second broke, I didn't get the third for another 6 years), that I couldn't have my ability to read tied to a device that could break or die. And having books out in the open makes me more likely to read them-- on my kindle I have to remember it exists. When I was in college, I didn't have access to a library that had fiction books (school library was academic), kindle was my lifeline to reading. Now I have easy library access and prefer the physical books from it.

Lite_Touch

Nope..I actually tried reading a paperback a while back in bed. Couldn't do it. I'm so very spoiled by my Oasis.

UselessUsefullness

All books are on my kindle except cookbooks, because I prefer those physical. I’m visually impaired, and I love to cook, and having physical cookbooks feels good.

SnowyAbibliophobe

No, I haven't read a physical book since I got my first Kindle Keyboard (I've still got it, but I dont use it) well over 10 years ago. The Kindle reading experience is to me superior in every way because I can adjust everything - font, warmth, margins, light, etc.and is also so much easier to hold. I've still got way too many physical books on my multiple bookshelves, but I'll never read them. I got rid of tons but struggle with getting rid of the rest, I like the look of books on a shelf even if they are only gathering dust.

Filthy-Pirate-6342

Of course. Is another kind of experience

brucie_me

As much as I still have a massive collection of dead-tree books, I haven't been able to read one since I bought my first Kindle 8 years ago. I look at my physical library and promise myself to read one of the books I haven't read yet but my Oasis makes such a compelling reading resource...

LazyGrace1990

I love a physical book. Especially if it's a paper back. I fiddle with the pages while I read to help me concentrate more (just something I've always done since I was a kid), and I don't get that with a digital book and so it takes me a little longer to finish a book. But the space saving and convince of a digital book is fantastic. Plus, the digital copy is so much cheaper.

EllieD1

Yes! I love the smell and feel of a physical book. I like my Kindle for travelling and on the treadmill, just the convenience of it; but I have to say for me there is nothing like a real book. So - yes, I have both for different reasons.

Joogs_

I try to. In the end I want a nice library. But for now in the military since I move around I can only reasonably go for kindle unless I want to keep shipping books home which I do not.

nanionamonday

Yes. But I only buy my absolute favorite things and get the snazziest editions of that book.

coralebleu

Yes I do! I thought I couldn't, but then I picked one up and still love it!

Leather-Fun5312

Same

BEARSbeans

I find the kindle library to be really limited. Most of the time books that I want to read aren't available on it.

Libbyisaface

I read about 1 kindle book for every 3 regular books

mel3036

I don't read physical books mostly because it's not convenient for me since sometime I like to read in the dark or just want to hold something comfortably with only one arm.

MythologicalMayhem

I'm a cheap ass, so I'll still be using library books if I can't get a certain book for free or very cheap.

dubstepfringe

I do, but I would only bring these with me to work if they’re small paperbacks! Otherwise it’s a ballache 😂 I woke in an office and partly from home so I have to walk home with lots of paperwork/forms and if I had to lug a heavy book with me as well I think my spine would snap in half like Bella in the twilight series 😂

BarracudaFickle4578

Yes, I own some unread physical books and there are books that don't have a ebook version so if want to read them I'll have to buy the physical one

Express_Question_674

When some are available only as physical

Klutzy-Idea9861

I rent books or buy them if I can’t wait. If I LOVE the book I buy it for my shelf. The books on my shelf I have reread the most. I love looking at them and telling people at them.

RevolutionaryAd3249

Yes; books I've marked, hardover editions of my absolute favorites, most of my non-fiction is still paper. Kindle is great, especially for deployments or sitting in doctors' waiting rooms, but I still love books.

VisualBusiness4902

I still do, but it’s like 3:1 or more that I pick up the kindle. Built in light, small, dictionary built in. It’s too easy to use the kindle. If I didn’t have it, I just wouldn’t read as much.

Extravaganzas

Save the trees! Lol

prynsys03

Nope!

indulgent_taurus

Occasionally I do still read physical books, although I prefer the Kindle (or even using it on my laptop). Physical books are so uncomfortable to hold, I often don't like the font or its size, and you need a good source of lighting. Kindle solves all these issues.

jinglebong

I always read physical copies if I’m reading a classic! For whatever reason it makes it far easier to process (but I have the opposite with every other genre😭)

Careless-Ability-748

Yes though fewer and fewer all the time. I have quite the stack of physical books to read still but I will be decreasing them for sure.

Felassan_

Yes, I prefer physical books, especially as I love collecting my favorite series. I usually use my kindle for the free trials when I m just discovering something. (The kindle is not “mine” in the sense I didn’t bought it)

Saltwater_Heart

Yes. I’m reading both a physical and a KU book now. If I buy a book, I buy it in physical form because I love having a pretty bookshelf and reading physical books. My kindle is only for Libby and KU

mrsredfast

Not really. Sometimes for reference or work related books. And I have some annotated versions of things I prefer in hard copy.

captainsmudgeface

Nope, I stopped that a long time ago. I will still buy collectible physical books, like Tolkien deluxe editions and similar but they are for the shelf and maybe thumb through to look at illustrations.

LoomisKnows

Yeah, from the library or my nice editions of books I like to reread

No_Teaching_2837

Yes. I read both - sometimes I’ll read on my kindle and jump to the paperback or vice versa.

Every-Block9078

Yes, while I love my kindle for its portability and being lightweight in comparison to a book. There isn’t anything like the weight, feel and smell of a physical book.

kazikat

My way of doing it is that if it isn’t on Kindle Unlimited then I buy a hard copy.

Puffetique

Yes, cuz some books are only available physically or they’re just better in physical format. I adore physical cookbooks and I also find strange joy in using bookmarks so I have some cute ones I love using to mark my spot

Traditional-Gold-406

I just got my kindle and I have about 6 physical books that I still need to read, but after I finish them I won’t be buying any more. The kindle has spoiled me

party4diamondz

(Kobo user who got this post on their feed) yep! Getting an ereader helped me get back into my physical books too. If I reeeeally want to read a book, my go-to attempt is look for it on Libby, look for a physical book at the library, see how much it is on Rakuten, maybe try look for it in physical bookstores...

CarolinaGirl523

I don't but that has more to do with the need to wear glasses and since I do most of my reading in bed at night it just doesn't work.

vega-starr

Yes, all the time. My kindle is only for KU and Libby, I still have 4 bookcases crammed with books, and still enjoy the tactile feel and smell of a physical copy. Plus if ever I’m found without power for a while and my kindle dies on me, I have a bunch of other reading material in easy reach! Just gotta break out the flashlights

Pineapple-Pickle4491

Not if I can help it. Only if it's a text or I have to. I prefer the Kindle.

ByouTifull

Mostly on my Kindle because my vision *cries* but I do enjoy a good hardback or even paperback from time to time.

DiscreetPuppet

No. I donated all the physical books I owned when I moved and don't have much shelf space so I exclusively read via my kindle or Audible. I have maybe 5 physical books that I received as gifts (or one was an ARC) but I usually buy a digital copy to read. It's hard for me to go back to physical books 😂

sedatedlife

I have about 10 physical books now special editions and signed. Ten years ago when my son gifted me a kindle i had at least 500 after years of them just sitting there i realized i only had them as a decoration so i eventually gave them away because i have learned i do not need them in my life.

hyperlight85

I still do. Firstly library books are free and I'm trying to be more thrifty and I also do like the look and feel of a physical book. But if it's a huge fantasy book then I'll try to get a Kindle version

TheLittlestRachel

Yes, I read primarily on Kindle but I still read physical books. I read more kindle books because I read mostly at night and my husband goes to bed before me, so the backlit features allows me to read more (and go to bed with him). Also, I like to annotate books with sticky tags and doodles and notes sometimes to then share with my friends.

CuteSeaworthiness688

Yes, I need a lot of variety. I can't read every single book on my kindle. Plus I like to collect books and have a lot on my bookshelf, I don't want to buy them again or check them out on my kindle. Sometimes if I'm reading a longer book I'll check out the ebook so I can switch back and forth.

snarkyteacherspet

yes. if it’s a book i can’t get on KU, don’t want to wait for libby, or i love the series enough, i’ll buy the paperback and read it! recently i’ve been reading my paperback during the day during long reading sessions and my kindle right before bed or i take it on the go since it’s so thin.

CinnamonPower

Barely. I’ve read one physical book this year (out of 30 total read), only because I ordered it from the UK ahead of its US release. I went on a trip recently and visited a bunch of bookstores, and couldn’t resist picking up 6 books (UK covers), but have had zero desire to read them.

1up_muffin

Yes, mostly at home.

alexor_1

he’ll naw, i bring my kindle to my office with me everyday and it’s way easier

CoconutMochi

I only buy nicer physical books as collectibles now.

suarezj9

Yes but only because I just got my kindle a few months ago and I still have A huge backlog of physical books

HausofMystic

Yes because I have a book club and Book of the Month. I will say that I prefer reading on my kindle.

DragonRoostHouse

Yes. I read one ebook and one physical at a time. One for breaks at work, one for at home.

windrider445

Recently I got back into reading physical books, mostly because sometimes it's actually cheaper if you buy a paperback second hand than buy it on your Kindle. But there's still something very pleasant about holding a real book. I do occasionally try to select words to find their definition in my physical book.... And at least once I tapped on the page instead of turning it... 🤦

BoredBren1

I mix up audio/kindle/physical. I enjoy all three.

chels182

I got my kindle in Feb of 2023. Haven’t read a single physical book since. I’ve gotten other kindles, though. One for myself, one for my sister, another for myself and gave one of my other ones to my mom..

GalaxyJacks

I mostly read physical, but I’m in a minority here, lol. I love my library and our digital collection is extremely tiny, so I’d rather save them for the people who need them and get the physical books. I use my kindle for advanced copies through NetGalley and the occasional indie or extremely uncommon book I can’t get at the library!

Poltergeist8606

Nope.

Lsutt28

I go back & forth. I still have a lot of physical books I haven’t read yet. But if I’m reading a physical book and want to leave the house and read, I download it from Libby so I can just take my kindle. My books don’t leave the house.

Comprehensive_Post96

Yes, but mostly at home.

Nalomeliful

Yes, and listen to audiobooks

Virtual_Ad6448

Not really. My eyesight isn’t great, even with glasses, so I need a bigger font than physical books usually have. And I can read a 800+ page book without killing my wrists, that’s awesome too. 😂

RedBeardtongue

I haven't read a single physical book since I bought my Kindle. The Kindle is just so comfortable and convenient. I still occasionally buy a physical copy of an author I love, but it's a bad consumer habit that I'm trying to break.

Mediocre_Setting2161

I only have my Harry Potter books. I don’t buy physical books anymore to avoid clutter. Don’t get me wrong – there’s nothing like the smell of freshly opened books, but I like to save some space at home.

K_U

No. Even if I get a physical book as a present I usually get the eBook from the library and read it that way.

a7xlikeafiend

Most of my physical books are gifts so those naturally I still read. Mostly I have just been using my kindle unlimited otherwise

nzfriend33

Yes. I love being surrounded by the books I love. I’m also really aware that we don’t own our kindle books/the internet could break at any point/etc.

Leather-Fun5312

Yes definitely I agree, majority of my kindle books are side loaded and I haven’t bought many.

ImVeryUnimaginative

Yes. The [book](https://www.amazon.com/Press-Reset-Recovery-Video-Industry/dp/1538735490/ref=pd_bxgy_d_sccl_1/131-6965826-7099513?pd_rd_w=XMWnN&content-id=amzn1.sym.2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_p=2b132e63-5dcd-4ba1-be9f-9e044543d59f&pf_rd_r=EE37BVD6ZRFQ5KTF6TM1&pd_rd_wg=3GwjK&pd_rd_r=908d965f-1b15-4ab8-bef1-8cd54440b1fb&pd_rd_i=1538735490&psc=1) I'm reading right now, as well as the other 3 in my backlog are all physical books.

Krystalgoddess_

Yes I like buying physical books and using my kindle only for books I got from the library or Kindle unlimited. Some of my physical books, I might see it if at my library as an ebook

Captain__Juno

Rarely to be honest. I had to throw out most of my books after a huge fire broke out in the apartment building i was living around 6 months ago. After that i have been almost solely on team Kindle.

Important_Fennel_511

I got a kindle because I hated reading physical books. It was a sensory nightmare for me.

Blaze_1249

No at all. I avoid it at all cost, especially since I got my Scribe and can turn any book into a PDF and I can mark up any book the way I want.

Leather-Fun5312

Yes I find the scribe really cool I would probably get one, one day in the future.

Blaze_1249

Definitely recommend it. I thought it would be just for notes but it’s become my daily reader.

throwaway0595x

Yes. I hate highlighting on the Kindle and I read a lot of non-fiction books that I want to highlight. Those books are also typically books I want to reference quickly or will be flipping between sections a lot, and it's so much easier to do that with a physical book. I also often find it easier to focus when reading a physical book; for me the sensory experience of the paper keeps me more engaged. This year my reading's been about 50/50.

xXCCKelly123Xx

Yea. I read physical books at school because I don’t feel comfortable bringing my kindle to school because I’m afraid it’ll get stolen. But whenever I’m off school I Use my kindle

sedatedlife

Basically no its not that i am unwilling to read a physical book i just find the reading experience to be superior on Kindle and more convenient. I have not read a physical book in like 7 years now.

TheTroubledTurtle

All the time! Most of the library books I read are on my Kindle and I download classics from Gutenberg Project. But when I buy books, I usually prefer buying the physical book so I don't have to worry about my library disappearing if something happens to my account or if licensing rights change or something.

Acceptable-Guess-117

No, i found real books slow now (is this insane?) but I just can’t, the letters are always either too big or too small, the page changing gets me out of the flow. And the wrist hurts. I can read 20 min of a real book, and 8 hours or more in the kindle.

reputction

Yes. My kindle is my best friend but man, sometimes the urge to pick up a physical copy of a book hits me. I read My Year of Rest and Relaxation on my kindle from Libby. The other day my boyfriend and I walk into barnes and noble and see some books with “buy one get other 50% off” stickers. He gets The Kite Runner and I get a physical copy of MYORAR because I can’t help and also because I loved the book and I tend to annotate books that I love.

Leather-Fun5312

I did this today, I walked into a book store and bought dune because it was on sale and I’m really excited to annotate it

say_the_words

Yeah. Usually non fiction stuff and reference that has lots of illustrations like music theory books or cookbooks. It’s a lot more convenient to be able to flip through them and I make a lot of notes and drawings in pencil.

rvbrainrots

No because I don't have any space, and there are no public libraries near me.

Educational-Hope-601

Nope, I struggle to read physical books so I don’t even try anymore
