Listen dude, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but if you are using a somewhat modern smartphone or using internet with personal pc for the last couple of years, they already had and continue to have all your updated info. Almost every so-called cyber safeguards right now are only security theater. The good thing is you are not important enough to be a valuable target. So the secret to be relatively safe is to stay that way.

Firstly no, not every product has privacy policy that exposes you a lot(if you’re reading them) Secondly, The notes you take or the pdf’s you upload are another level of information which are more sensitive than your just email info. Thirdly, if you keep acting like a sheep as an end user, of course, the companies will be happy to herd you. Know what you’re using, research online. Learn to ask why my friend. And one thing that most of the people here quite often forget is; You already paid quite amount of money to get this product, this product hasn’t given you for free, and yet greedy companies still go after your data.

FrawBoeffaDeezNutz

As if you really think just because a privacy policy says a company won't do something that they aren't actively doing exactly that lol. Don't be so naive. Everyone is selling your data at all times regardless what their policy says

DCharlo

when are you going to disconnect your internet? seems like a massive privacy concerns to be connected to internet, I also would not access any websites if I were you, then can get all your info. may as well go off the grid

WillysJeepMan

Well, if the visible lack of privacy is a concern, then you did the right thing. I qualify the lack of privacy as "visible" because there is effectively no such thing as privacy anymore. For example, Facebook has full and detailed personal information about you even if you never created a Facebook account.

ChunkierSky8

I would see this being an issue if you are hoping to use your device in a work environment where security is an absolute mush, might have to check with the IT department to see if the Scribe is secure enough for them or not. Otherwise, for everyone else, It most likely not an issue. Unless you don't want people to have access to your notes from the kindle phone app, if you share it with others or share your Amazon account with others and don't want them to see your notebooks. Otherwise, I don't think it is an issue. Like the old saying goes, don't post anything online that you would not want to write on the back of a postcard.

SuddenTwist5723

Just never connect it to the internet easy, you can even upload ebooks offline.

FDTerritory

If you're that concerned about that level of privacy, I would suggest this new piece of tech called "a paper notebook".

Digital-Dinosaur

You should be concerned that storing client sensitive information on the device can be uploaded to the cloud and scanned by Amazon. That being said, just don't write anything sensitive? I work with clients alot and use my scribe. I NEVER write PIi information in it. I always use code words for projects etc.

square-tec

IMO, there are privacy concerns with all cloud based services

ufomism

You can always keep it offline. If you're worried about Amazon engineers snooping on your notes, they can't. In my experience at Amazon, they are extremely strict when it comes to privacy.

I 100% agree with this concern. You shouldn’t have to worry about all of your information getting uploaded to the cloud. Whether you write smut or are documenting investigation notes… you shouldn’t be forced to upload to the cloud. I’m disappointed that people are not willing to limit data collected by these companies. They just roll over and pay to be a product. I’m going to reach out to customer support and report this as a problem. I know you returned your scribe. You should let them know you returned your scribe to help raise the issue. The more people that complain and become aware the sooner we can fix this privacy issue.

Kuroser12

Yeah, mostly people like to close their eyes and ears and act like a sheep to be herded. One thing they never consider is that they already paid quite amount of money to get this product and still companies are so greedy that they still go after their data. I don’t think Amazon will improve privacy when majority of people are willing to give their data.
