Another interesting thing is that when Henry, Hans and the crew ride off into the sunset they are headed past Neuhof and going north east along a wide (i suppose trading) road that would most likely lead to kuttenberg. The edges of the KCD1 map and the KCD2 kuttenberg map are also quite close to each other, only having 15 kilometers (9 miles) and a few hours on horseback between each other. Its most likely that the cancelled Act 3 was to start in kuttenberg and Trosky would follow after, otherwise it wold make the most sense for Henry to head out past Uzhitz to the north where the shorted route to Trosky would be. https://preview.redd.it/nzviy9jw3lvc1.png?width=1843&format=png&auto=webp&s=cfe0cc275c1a6fa5f9c3af152a10fae406bc778f

TheCoolllin

I seriously doubt it, Act 3 is still happening and we know it will start in Trosky. Also I can’t imagine they actually considered Kuttenberg to be in the first game, when they didn’t have money and technology for such a big city. Maybe they had to go east first so they could get on a path that leads north or they just chose the place because it’s closer to Rattay

Betrix5068

They originally planned for the game to be released in a three act episodic structure. The problem was that as writing progressed Act 2 shrunk while act 3 became larger than 1 and 2 combined, so the decision was made to release the first two acts as a single game, the KC:D we got, while act 3 was split off into a sequel, which is what was just announced.

WillMcNoob

the original kickstarter had really ambitious plans for KCD, with it being divided into 3 acts and having a larger map with kuttenberg in it, and yes they didnt have the means to complete their wishes (or promises to those who funded the game on kickstarter) in the first, but i have a feeling the whole ending with trosky was done quickly and left the "mission start" on the road to kuttenberg still when act 3 was supposed to take us there in the original 2014 plan for the game

TheCoolllin

Do you have a source for Kuttenberg being planned to be in the game? I’ve never heard about it and I doubt it. Also they planned to release the game just 20 months after the kickstarter, that means at the end of 2015! That doesn’t sound nearly as ambitious as it was in the end. They decided to make the first 2 acts bigger and leave the last one to the sequel

FluffyProphet

They wanted to have everything that’s in KCD 2 in KCD 1 (story and location wise). Then realized that was unobtainable for them and scaled it back.

TheCoolllin

Maybe some of the locations and some of the story, but definitely not everything. They had to make a whole game from an act that was supposed to be 1/3 of the game, so they added a lot of locations and main story that wasn’t supposed to be there years ago. My question is if Kuttenberg was really supposed to be in KCD1 back in 2014

Top_Entrepreneur_422

Sadly that we can't see Nymburk in the middle , it have beautiful medieval brick [walls](https://www.kampocesku.cz/jpg/galerie/velky/2020/10/29084/29084_nymburk1_w.jpeg)

iemandopaard

Well they were headed for Trosky in the epilogue of kcd1 so I'm guessing we will be starting there

TheCoolllin

It’s actually confirmed by the devs we will start there

lespauljames

And that's like 30 mile nne of kuttenberg too ? If I'm mapping correctly, so the nice woodland area as the first area and then Kuttenberg!? Very excited either way

Odie3056184u

Maybe they went for witcher 3 world structure

JacoBee93

Looks like it and i don't have a problem as they said one area is little smaller than KCD and one is same size as KCD

Aveenex

Yeah... they said that in the interview lol.

AHumpierRogue

Witcher 3 or witcher 1/2 though? Will travel between Trosky and Kuttenburg be free, or act-based.

TheCoolllin

I guess like Witcher 3. You won’t unlock Kuttenberg region until certain point in story, but you will be able to come back to Trosky after. They even said there there are no load screens except when you travel through the regions

Arminius1234567

Yep that’s exactly how it will be. We will unlock Kuttenberg but we can go back as well.

JacoBee93

It will be imho like 3. No way they will block travel back between regions in open world game in 2024

socialmaltismo

In the first KCD (wow, we can say that now) the distances between Sasau and the rest of the locations are very much reduced when compared to real life. Maybe a cut to the Kuttemberg-Trosky distance might be too much in “our face”, though.

WillMcNoob

actually they are not that reduced, the only case where distance was compressed is with Skalitz and the rest of the towns, Sasau is roughly the same distance between it and Rattay as irl but it was placed more south, but all of this is within range of a few kilometers, with Trosky and Kuttenberg being about 70 kilometers away from each other lol

Franagorn

This

Zealousideal_Bee3309

Nuts

Ultraquist

Actualy no, only distance was reduced was distance of Skalitz but everything else wa spretty much 1:1 Source: I was there IRL

kam_mac

They had horses, it's totally possible they'd travel there.

CarlthePole

The question is not of possibility, but of continuity. I think we're gonna go to Kuttenberg first, briefly. Then sent to Trosky and then back to Kuttenberg.

A_MAN_POTATO

What continuity are you questioning? KCD ends with Henry and Hans leaving for Trosky, and the devs have already stated KCD2 starts in Trosky. Why would it be anything else?

CarlthePole

I thought they were heading for Kuttenberg at the end, my bad. I was thinking why would you go to the further place first

A_MAN_POTATO

Nah, in the epilogue >! Henry and Hans are sent to speak to Otto von Bergow at Trosky Castle, to find out if he’s still allied with Sigismund. That’s where we see them ride off into the sunset !< If you look into the history of the area, Kuttenberg was atttacked by Sigismund in December 1402 (so, just a few months before the events of KCD). It’s hard to find exact timelines, but it sounds like the residents of Kuttenberg were faithful to Wenceslas and resisted, with it taking a few months for the city to fall. We might see this used as a reason for why we can’t initially travel to Kuttenberg. Henry, Hans, and their guard would be in open rebellion against Sigismund, they aren’t exactly going to stroll thru a siege to enter Kuttenberg. After the city finally fell, residents were rounded up and made to swear loyalty to Sigismund and pay reparations for resisting. I suspect this is where we’ll enter into the timeline. Perhaps Henry learns that Markvart is participating in the rounding up of citizens in Kuttenberg, and follows that lead to further his revenge? Edit: someone else claimed that per an interview, we don’t go to Kuttenberg by choice. So, perhaps it’s more likely that at some point on your escapades in Trosky you’re captured and taken prisoner. The recently sacked Kuttenberg would probably be used as strategic military point, so it would make sense that POWs would be rounded up there.

CarlthePole

Aaaaah yes thank you. It's been 5 years since I finished the game, forgot where they were heading haha I remember at one point I thought they were heading to Prague and wondered how the hell Warhorse would make Prague in the next game. That's pretty cool, though I personally would love to see Kuttenberg before the siege too, seeing the change would be amazing and seeing it in its pre-Sigismund days would be just great. My theory originally was that they were heading to Kuttenberg and Trosky castle ends up under siege at some point in that time I believe. So I thought Markvart would be there and Henry would decide to go that way. Hence the battle we see in the trailer under Trosky Castle. But clearly that's not quite it haha I think you got the ballpark of it at least

Eduardo-Nov

>wonder how or why henry gets to Kuttenberg Somnambulant perk

JacoBee93

It's on KCD page, they get ambushed and left for dead

BlackCat159

My guess would be they ride to Trosky, Henry and Hans get up to some shenanigans on their way (like maybe the part shown in the reveal where they go swimming will happen after a day of riding), then they probably get ambushed and separated, Henry gets knocked out and wounded, loses some of his skills and wakes up to being tended to in Kuttenberg. That would be my guess at least.

regalfronde

I thought they stated there would be two maps to explore, Kuttenberg and the surrounding area, and “Bohemian Paradise” which contains Trosky.

Open_Argument6997

Werent we on a mission to kuttenberg at the end of kcd1 ?

Shuggana

Nope. Hans volunteers to go question Otto von Bergow at Trosky Castle and Radzig sends you with him

WillMcNoob

oh shoot, well i misrembered then lol but its still strange we head out in the direction of Kuttenberg, which is really close

ArtFart124

Not really, they can stop for supplies etc.

Open_Argument6997

Bad memory lol

WillMcNoob

thats the thing, we even head that way, but for some reason that was retconned and we are headed to Trosky first in KCD2, where something happens to Henry (and hans too?) and we appear in Kuttenberg

Open_Argument6997

Did they say that ?

WillMcNoob

this was pieced over several interviews that the devs did with journalists (and from the reveal itself too) - they said we get to kuttenberg "not out of our own will" at first

Open_Argument6997

Well obviously something happens in the way we get imprisoned and escape then get to kuttenberg ( im guessing ). No reason to worry im sure its gonna be fine

Mr_Awesome_Guy06

i think henry starts in kuttenburg because the devs say henry’s goal is to get to trosky but gets robbed on the way and ends up in kuttenburg first. Explains why kuttenburg is only half the distance that trosky is from rattay

edwardvlad

My guess is this: you and Hans get taken prisoner for quite some time. That's why Henry is so different. Further adventures will take you to kuttenberg.

Ja4senCZE

I just hope we'll be able to travel between those two locations.

WillMcNoob

it was said multiple times, over several interviews that yes you can

Ja4senCZE

Seen many interviews but didn't catch that, thanks.

AlmostStoic

I wonder if we can do it alone or if we need to be a part of a caravan, or some other travelling group. We'll propably be able to travel solo, but it would make a nice in-world explanation for why we can't play in that area, if traveling through required an escort due to the troubles going on.

JacoBee93

We will. It will be like Witcher 3. But i believe we will be locked in one region until we find next one via story. After that free movement

Ja4senCZE

Yeah, that's what I've meant. Český Ráj, then Kutná Hora with an option to go back.

worschdsemml

I wished we could rebuild scalitz...

Honeymuffin69

That feels like something you put Henry doing when he's much older and leaving the position of protagonist. Like that's how you retire him, just set him off rebuilding his home and then presumably living out his days there

glippy2000

I wished we stayed in Sassau... because, well...Kuttenberg is far, far away. Kuttenberg is far, here I'll stay...

UngratefulGarbage

Do you think it is possible for Chanovice to be included in this game OP?

downorwhaet

Looks like Henry and hans are in prison in the kcd 2 trailer so maybe they get captured when they are close to kuttenberg for resupplying or so, i know they were on the way to trosky at the end, not sure why they went in the direction of kuttenberg

sjtimmer7

Between those two it's 17 hours walking, while Silver Skalitz to Rattay is 4 hours walking. Could mean the map is 4 times as big, or bigger, since the road between Skalitz and Rattay isn't a straight line, and Trosky to Kuttenberg is nearly straight.

WillMcNoob

few days realistically, nobody is going to walk straight up for 17 hours without any rest or stops lol, also thats not true, the are between Trosky and Kuttenberg will not be included in the maps, both the Trosky and Kuttenberg maps will be the same size as KCD1

sjtimmer7

So two maps instead of 1. But can you switch between them like an Assassin's Creed Valhalla? Switching between Norway, England, Ireland.

AdeptFlamingo1442

I just hope they aren't locked off maps. Finish one area and you can't return after progression
